Cream for my scabby hand (gross picture)

Can anyone recommend me a good over the counter cream for my hands?

I’ve been using sudocrem the last couple of days, but I’m not sure if it’s actually making things worse. I’ve been wearing gloves to do the dishes, but still have to wash my hands, hair etc.

It’s really sore. Please help!

Body shop hemp cream. It’s incredible. My hands split open and bleed and this almost fixes them overnight.

DearMrDilkington · 17/01/2018 18:22

Ouch! What happened?

moreismore · 17/01/2018 18:23

You could try a rich emollient like E45 or Eucerin and West with cotton gloves overnight and then religious application of neutrogena or similar and use specialist emollient wash instead of hand wash. If that doesn’t help in a few days you might need a prescription cream. I’d also show the pharmacist who can advise further.

moreismore · 17/01/2018 18:24

Wear not West

DontDIY · 17/01/2018 18:27

DearMr not sure, I think maybe I’ve just not been drying my hands properly? Have it started very slightly in my other hand. I’ve had it before, or similar, but I can’t remember what helped. Think I did get emollient cream from the GP actually.

Thanks very much for the suggestions! It’s been really bothering me today, so I’ll pick something up tomorrow .

This is what you need OP. Works really well for me and if you use it often it is a really good preventative.

Try using this regularly until your hand clears up and I'd also recommend the Hemp hand cream from body shop but only once it's healed. You can also get gloves online that are full of moisturizer, could be worth wearing overnight to help prevent the skin cracking again.

I'd ask pharmacist followed by GP.

iklboo · 17/01/2018 18:36

DH slathers his hands in E45 or bepanthen and wears white cotton gloves overnight. As we sleep in the nud it's a bit like going to bed with a pervy snooker referee. Grin

Coconut oil.

yorkshireyummymummy · 17/01/2018 18:39

I swear by Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream.
I don’t go anywhere without it.
My second choice is sudocrem which you have used.
Best advice is to see a pharmacist though.

Doje · 17/01/2018 18:41

Go and ask a pharmacist. I did recently, for something not as bad but similar, and they recommended a steroid cream and some emollient cream.

Soubriquet · 17/01/2018 18:41

Ooo child's farm cream

My gf had bad dermatitis on her hand. This cleared it up very quickly

Theyhaveallbeenused2 · 17/01/2018 18:41

I would get a cream from pharmacist first off to clear it up save any infection. When cleared I would use hemp hand cream from body shop daily

blackwhitebrindle · 17/01/2018 18:46

Oh gosh, not the o’keefes until it’s 100% healed as it stings so badly. Also I only use that at night as it leaves a film on your hands which annoys me in the day time.
Hemp for now until it’s healed, o’keefes every night once it’s healed!

Ollivander84 · 17/01/2018 19:14

I would nip to the chemist as it could be fungal

LizzieSiddal · 17/01/2018 19:18

You need to go and see a pharmacist. They will give you the best cream for whatever you have!

ClaudiaD13 · 17/01/2018 19:20

I'd speak to your pharmacist. You might be best using 0.1% hydrocortisone cream (which you can buy over the counter) for a few days.

DontDIY · 17/01/2018 19:45

Okay, pharmacist first then. But thank you all, will definitely try the other suggestions to prevent this in future.

Iklboo had a proper laugh at that Grin

That looks sore and maybe is a fungal infection (I have no medical training). If it is not fungal you can get steroid cream over the counter from a pharamist.

ineedamoreadultieradult · 17/01/2018 23:05

I agree looks fungal, definitely pharmacist visit.

DontDIY · 18/01/2018 13:34

I went to see the pharmacist and he suggested Vaseline? Said to try that for a few days, and with cotton glove on at nighttime, and see the GP if it hasn’t cleared up as I may need a steroid cream.

Really didn’t think simple Vaseline would be a possible answer!

OP posts:
LizzieSiddal · 18/01/2018 15:08

Gosh that sounds so simple. Hope it works but do see the dr if it doesn’t.

Chaosofcalm · 18/01/2018 17:41

Pharamist can sell you a mild steroid cream which you can use for a week
