Deep Bartholin abcess misery

Hi,
I’m having trouble finding information and just wondered if anyone else had experienced a very deep (I’d say ‘internal’) Bartholin’s cyst abcess?
I started to feel unwell on Christmas Day and after a few days of feeling increasingly poorly (nausea, cramps, downwards pressure) and then finding a large painful lump I ended up at out of hours yesterday. The doc said she thought it was a Bartholin’s abcess as it’s around the right location, however it’s very deep. I was prescribed two different anti-bs and she said to give it 48 hours & go back to doc if worse.
Only thing is I’ve woken up today with it bigger and more painful than ever with nausea even worse (assuming from anti-bs).
Has anyone had one of these ‘deep’ abcesses before? Was it definitely a Bartholin’s or a different one? Did it go away with just anti-bs or am I likely to need it to be drained? I’m supposed to be driving on hol with the kids on Tuesday but the docs won’t be open on Monday and I’m trying to work out whether to cancel holiday or not. The way I’m feeling now I can’t even get off the sofa. So worried it might burst too with it being internal :( Can’t remember ever feeling this poorly & miserable!
Any insight would be gratefully received!

Hi, ended up back at hospital this morning after GP sent me back. The registrar apologised for the consultants behaviour yesterday and said he was glad I came back. Just in recovery now trying to distract myself from pain! Turned out to be a cyst and a large blood clot so I have a much bigger incision than anticipated - ouch!

Hi there, hope your feeling a bit betterXx Just wanted to say a burst absses can make you feel a lot better IF its on the surface. As yours is deep it can make you feel/be alot worse. Dpnt meen to scare you just stating facts

beggingbehind · 02/01/2018 17:12

Alos glad the op went well and your on the road o recovery! Ive experinced some awful consultants in my time and they just make you feel more nervous about going back!

gillybeanz · 02/01/2018 17:16

Anti biotics don't work, my dh has had these recurring for years.
Cut drained and packed is the best they can do, but the anti bacs won't work.
So sorry you are feeling so poorly, you need to get it checked out asap.

So sorry you have had to go through all that pain and even worse to deal with an arrogant consultant...they are absolutely the worst to deal with.

I hope you recover very soon and take care of yourself...treat yourself gently for a few weeks to give your body chance to recover Flowers

Ouch! Glad it’s all done. Don’t be afraid to ask for more pain relief. There are plenty of options available.

Packing change is akin to first postpartum poo.
You'll feel grand once it's over.

WinnerWinnerChickenDinner0 · 03/01/2018 20:06

How are you feeling op
Hope the drugs are keeping you comfortable

NickyS17 · 03/01/2018 21:19

Hi, packing change was a bit brutal and been bleeding a lot since which is a bit worrying. Guess it will take a while to work out what’s normal!

You poor thing, what a miserable start to the new year. You have my sympathy, cysts and abbesses are bloody awful. At least you are now on the mend with it removed.
