She's 4 months and vomitting loads. Just been sick for the 4th time in 5 hours and she is absolutely soaked again. It's not straight after a bottle so knows it's not, last bottle was at 7p.m - she was just sick so loud it woke me up.

Have tried giving her diaralyte but she just heaves instantly and her tummy is making horrendous churning noises - really worried about dehydration

call nhs direct

hercules1 · 10/04/2007 23:30

I would. THey can become dehydrated so quickly especially at this age.

Beauregard · 10/04/2007 23:30

Yes i would .
She may have a bug.
Hope she is ok.

mollymawk · 10/04/2007 23:30

Possibly no help - but if it were me I would phone NHS Direct and do whatever they say. Or do you have an out of hours number for your GP?

FoghornLeghorn · 10/04/2007 23:30

Thanks Ellie but I was thinking the same as hurcules, my niece became v. ill from dehydration but she was 14 months, she was on a drip

I think that refusing 2 feeds is a good guideline. Also when DS was like this at 13 weeks I took him to a&E and they did exactly this with the diarolyte, syringe it into her every 10 mins, even if she is sick, some of it will get into her system.

My friend took her babe to hosp recently and they did the same.

But if you are worried, then you shoulderr on the side of caution

thelittleElf · 10/04/2007 23:31

Personally i wouldn't mess around with little ones, they dehydrate sooner. Have you tried just giving the baby cooled boiled water. My advice would be straight down to A&E xx

SpunkyJohnny · 10/04/2007 23:31

yes, go

mamazon · 10/04/2007 23:31

i would.

best to be safe than sorry

hercules1 · 10/04/2007 23:32

NHS direct can't diagnose. I am sure with a baby so young they will have to tell you to get her checked out.

FoghornLeghorn · 10/04/2007 23:32

She has refused more than 2 UCM, she had only drunk 2-3 oz of each bottle, max, all day

Give her cooled boiled water to sip. Does she have diarrhoeah? I would just call nhs direct straight away 08454647

SpunkyJohnny · 10/04/2007 23:32

NHS direct will say A & E anyway.

Hilllary · 10/04/2007 23:33

Yes she will probably need a saline drip to rehydrate her poor little mite.

FoghornLeghorn · 10/04/2007 23:33

OK that's it, am off now. Just getting DD1 up cos DH coming too, he's really worried, DD2 is really dopey and not her usual self

OP posts:
OttersPool · 10/04/2007 23:33

no sorry but i would not
just let her sleep and try again in morning with fluids
she will be happier in her own bed and its most likely just a bug

hercules1 · 10/04/2007 23:33

PLease let us know how she is when you can.

Sounds like my ds1 when he was two wks old, woozy, screaming, dehydrated. The doc sent us straight to ruh where he was checked for everything abd put on a drip.

FoghornLeghorn · 10/04/2007 23:35
