Constantly bleeding black blood for 2 months

Hi
I'm still currently waiting to fully register with my doctor but I'm just wondering if anyone could spare any advice.
I'm 20 and do have an active sex life but this problem is starting to effect everything!
I have been bleeding for the past 2+ months now but it's thick, black, stringy blood. My periods have been out of the ordinary since getting the implant, so I'm wondering if it's best I go back on the pill.
I'm not cramping or anything like that but this is constant now, it's taking over my life.
Thanks :)

I can't explain it but I will say that you can't put off seeing a doctor any longer. Either complete your registration asap or go to your nearest walk in centre and get seen there. Get proper advice, don't just leave it.

OP please go to GP

Black blood can be really serious - simplistically speaking if it's bright red then its nothing to worry about as it's fresh. But if it is black then it is originating up in your digestive or uterine system and needs to be checked out!

Thank you so much! I will as soon as!

If you’re not able to see a GP then see if you have a sexual health clinic nearby. They often have walk in sessions, and sometimes you can make appointments too.

KarateKitten · 29/09/2017 10:55

Derelict, seriously? So fresh blood is nothing to worry about? Be careful what you write, I think doctors would disagree with you.

Footle · 29/09/2017 12:11

Why would even fresh blood over that length of time not be serious?

CredulousThickos · 29/09/2017 12:14

I would simply go to A&E at this point tbh.

If you really have been constantly bleeding black blood for two months you need urgent treatment.

lougle · 29/09/2017 12:22

Karatekitten fresh blood is more likely to be from haemorrhoids or an anal fissure than other causes, because the blood hasn't had time to get 'old'. If it is accompanied by other symptoms, it may be caused by another more worrying condition.

Footle · 29/09/2017 12:47

Lougle, OP is talking about menstrual blood.

lougle · 29/09/2017 12:55

Yes, sorry, I read that and then got completely mixed up. I'm so sorry, I can confirm that fresh blood from the vagina will never be caused by haemorrhoids.Blush

I had horrible periods when on the implant- black/brown stringy bleeding off and on the whole time i was on it. I was disappoined as so many of my friends raved about it. I waited several months to see if it would calm down, but in the end I had it removed and my periods (eventually) went back to normal. Maybe it doesn't agree with you?

BitOutOfPractice · 29/09/2017 16:50

Oh crikey op you need to be seen ASAP. I can’t believe you’ve put up with it so long

user1484050576 · 29/09/2017 18:04

Exactly Grace, that's why I've been waiting because that's what I was told especially because of the way my body is. But now it's just not going my way!
Thanks everyone going to see if I can go to a walk in centre or something.

You can search for a local sexual health clinic here

Bunnyfuller · 29/09/2017 23:57

I also had this on and off with my first implant, settled after a few months. Gl

user1484050576 · 30/09/2017 13:05

Update:
I went to Urgent Care and they said if it gets really bad go to A&E. I'm currently so bloated after having only toast and water. I'm dizzy and sickly. I'm in agony and I'm at work. Should I just go to A&E?

OP posts:
Leatherboundanddown · 30/09/2017 13:08

Yes A&E you could have an infection

Itscurtainsforyou · 30/09/2017 13:14

BitOutOfPractice · 30/09/2017 14:26

Definitely. Go now.

Leatherboundanddown · 30/09/2017 15:14
