The story of my ovarian cancer discovery is here

This is such an important health issue - there's a reason why OC is called the 'silent killer'. I really want more women to be aware of what few symptoms there are (I wasn't).

This is my story. I hope it's a long one.

It sounds like a great way to be - busy, resting, enjoying

Have a fab time just 'being'

Redteapot67 · 18/07/2018 23:28

What a lovely positive update.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 18/07/2018 23:32

whoa that is a busy time! So glad to hear you feel more able to enjoy things like this , but perhaps pace yourself. Or what the hell - kick your heels up and do whatever you can and live life to the fullest. Grin

Gonegrey31 · 19/07/2018 09:01

Hello TQ, so lovely to hear from you and have all your upbeat news. Enjoy the dog sitting! But don't overdo it in the heat, I took a mad collie for a walk (?run?) at the weekend and she nearly finished me off....

BigGreenOlives · 19/07/2018 09:06

Sounds as if the swimming and the massage were just what you needed after Cornwall & graduation ceremony. I hope you enjoy having the spanner to stay & it isn’t too crazy.

Popchyk · 19/07/2018 09:10

It is just brilliant to hear your news, TQ.

And well done to your DD2 for her graduation.

WildIrishRose1 · 20/07/2018 00:41

Good to hear your news, TQ.

ScarlettSahara · 21/07/2018 02:24

Have only just found your threads TQ. My mum had OC (& also bowel cancer- strangely it was 2 independent tumours).
I have read all your first thread & most of this thread & you sound awesome to me with everything you have had to cope with & raising 3 lovely daughters.
It is such a good thing you are doing in raising awareness of this horrible disease.
I wonder if Mumsnet could have an easy access symptom checker?
💐🥜(sorry no cashew emoji when you need one - bloody Apple , useless!)
💐 for Leslie & you other ladies who have faced/ are facing this.

TwitterQueen1 · 21/07/2018 08:24

Thanks Scarlett. So sorry to hear about your mum.

Hi TQ, how was your weekend?
We went off to see As You Like It at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre. I got the gist of it but lost concentration a few times (heat, seat hurting my hip & Prosecco- am a bit of a lightweight!). Got back home early hours of morning- I feel such a country bumpkin because I invariably feel exhausted after London.
Thanks for your sympathy re my Mum.
Try not to feel deflated about your career - I can empathise there. I stopped work to raise a family & had hoped to go back but then got ill but work does not define us. I can look back & think of things that I am glad I was able to achieve as I am sure you can. My Mum was actively discouraged from going to Uni (such a shame as she had a flair for languages).
Glad that you enjoyed your Spa day & had a lovely Graduation Day with your DD. Hope that my DD will get there- she has dyslexia and really struggles with memorising facts.
Hope you are managing to stay cool & hydrated.

Sorry to hear your news Picachoo. That's the trouble with OC - symptoms vary and can easily be dismissed as something else.

Keeping everything crossed for you - let me know.

Scarlett I know what you mean! I'm only 60 miles from London yet I feel (and enjoy feeling) like a country bumpkin! Too flipping exhausting.

Hi TQ, how are you getting on? Ive been following your story from the beginning 💐 How are you managing with the heatwave and the dog sitting?

TwitterQueen1 · 09/08/2018 16:56

Hi Dreams
I haven't been coping particularly well with the heat tbh. It's debilitating and tiring so I've been mostly sitting doing nothing. Dog is a joy - she's gorgeous - she hasn't enjoyed the heat very much either and has been happy to lie around the house. She's unusual in that she doesn't seem very keen on walking generally, which is probably just as well. I'm finding that I have one energetic day followed by a tired and lazy day so I need to try to balance activities out a bit.

It's my birthday on Saturday and I'm having friends round on Sunday so I've written lists of jobs for the DC to do. They're being fantastic!

I find the Heat exhausting too, hard to motivate myself to cook, iron or do housework, but I can just about find the energy to swim for an hour or so, it’s a kind of addiction, a good one I guess.

I’d love a dog to walk but I look after my 2 year old grandchild 2 days a week and have another due in the New Year. So getting a dog will have to be on hold for a while.

Hope you have a lovely time at the weekend for your Birthday 🎂 with your daughters and friends 🥂 keep us posted on your progress X

flyright · 10/08/2018 11:08

Have a lovely birthday tomorrow TQ and well done to your girls for general marvellousness.

Your dog sounds just the ticket. I'd love one but still working full time so ginger kitty fills the gap for now. He does his best.

whattimeislove · 10/08/2018 12:58

Been thinking of you TQ (ive name changed) - hope you have a fabulous birthday weekend!

Gonegrey31 · 11/08/2018 06:48

Happy Birthday TQ! Hope you have a fantastic day and are thoroughly spoiled x

TwitterQueen1 · 12/08/2018 08:37

Thank you all for the birthday wishes! I do appreciate the kind words and support. I had a lovely day and was indeed spoiled. The DDs gave me books, some fab pots and plants for the front garden, cheese & biscuits and chocolates. A perfect mix of goodies.

We had a lovely lunch out too and then came home and chilled in front of the TV and a good film (Allied).

Dog goes home today Sad but I have friends coming round to sit in the garden and enjoy some food and drink, so another lovely day in store.

I'm hoping for clear sies tonight to see the meteor shower!

Hello TQ, glad you had such a lovely day.
I see from the other thread that you are going to see Mama Mia 2 today, just to say stay until the end of the credits - great final clip at the very end.
Hope the trip to the dentist goes well. Take care x

TwitterQueen1 · 20/08/2018 17:39

Hi GoneGrey. I did stay to the very end! Because I didn't the first time and found out afterwards what I'd missed Grin Grin. He's so funny and played his part brilliantly.

The film makes me sob (silently and secretly as I was with the DDs) but it's just lovely. Dentist said I should have had a crown really (big £650 gulp) but he's put in a big filling instead. x

Good to hear from you, TQ.

Hope you are enjoying the cooler weather now.

Gonegrey31 · 20/08/2018 21:17

I cried too, TQ, it’s the thought that I’m unlikely to be around for my dd’s wedding that got to me. Stiff upper lip and all that is tough in front of dds, isn’t it.
Hope those wretched forms were successfully dealt with too . X
