The story of my ovarian cancer discovery is here

This is such an important health issue - there's a reason why OC is called the 'silent killer'. I really want more women to be aware of what few symptoms there are (I wasn't).

This is my story. I hope it's a long one.

shewolfmum · 26/06/2018 22:12

Twitter...great news... have you thought about cannabis oil? Just to help stop it growing. Need high stregnth thc oil.

TwitterQueen1 · 27/06/2018 07:41

shewolf yes I have. I spent several hours on the net yesterday, looking at various research. Do you take it? Isn't THC the hallucinogenic component though?

Sorry to be late here. I am worrying myself senseless I have OC. I have been weeing non stop at night for quite a while now and have just finished antibiotics for a UTI but I still wee about 7 times a night - usually before 2.00am weirdly. I also have some pelvic pain and feel generally Blergh, which I've put down to a new stressful job and the weather. I have a docs appointment on Tuesday and am actually scaring myself daft! I don't have the fat tummy and am really very fit on the whole but still terrified :( So, symptoms are: lots of weeing (proper long wees!), bit of pain in my pelvis and tired...

TwitterQueen1 · 10/07/2018 22:20

Hi piggy. Not sure those symptoms are enough for O C to be honest but you're absolutely right to get checked out. What did the doctor say? Could simply be a UTI. Let's hope so. Let me know.

Hi TQ hope you are relaxing and enjoying the cake healthy eating still

I think I'm having my ovaries removed, I'm 50, have a cyst on one that grew from 5 to 6.5cms in 10 days (between Ultrasound and MRI) so they 'think it's a good idea to prevent problems' - bit worried about sudden menopause but feel grateful they are acting proactively I think

Thanks for your support before

TwitterQueen1 · 11/07/2018 10:24

Hi KatyMac
I don't know anything about cysts but that seems very fast growth so I would want to get it out asap too! I had already gone through the menopause (with very few ill-effects) when I was dx last year at 56. Everyone's experiences are different - I hope yours isn't too bad.

Thanks - I'm a bit scared and had a run in with the hospital this week so I'm wobbling but I'll be OK

Hi TQ I just checked in to say hello. It is great to hear some more positive news from you. I had tnbc 11 years ago and am currently wrestling with low abdominal pain which a telephone diagnosis says is ibs. This seems unlikely as I am 74 and haven’t been diagnosed with ibs ever.
Keep as well and happy as you can TQ and long may the remission last.

TwitterQueen1 · 14/07/2018 20:10

Thanks greylady I am not in remission though. The cancer is still there and will resurface anytime soon. It's a temporary hiatus.

thegreylady · 15/07/2018 16:18

Oh sorry for getting it so wrong. I just wish you luck and send love and hope that whatever treatment you have offers some control however temporary.

TwitterQueen1 · 18/07/2018 22:36

Such a busy couple of weeks - I feel almost normal again! My brain is definitely improving, though I'm still struggling for words sometimes.

Had 4 days in Cornwall last week but got very bored. Friend drove and then worked all the time. I went on 2 walks the first day, massively overdid things then and on subsequent day trip to St Ives, and was
consequently too knackered and also unable to do anything for the next 2 days..

Came home to no hot water because boiler needed repressurising. DDs not happy but I refused to do anything over the weekend. Massive stress Monday trying to find someone who could do it within 3 days, finally found a company who wanted £165+ for a 2 minute job. Luckily, a very kind local independent plumber took the time and trouble to contact me and fixed it within 2 mins for £20....

DD2's graduation yesterday. Very tiring but lovely, lovely day.

Spa treat today - brother's birthday gift from last August which I've been too unwell to enjoy until now. OMG, heaven! amazing massage, a swim!!! (I haven't swum for 2 years). Slight downside in that all that massaging and jacuzzi jets have resulted in a dire rear! But I can cope with that.

Taxi DDs to train station tomorrow (20 miles - local trains not running) and then 5 days of peace and quiet Wink except I have now have a last minute dog-sitting booking for 3 weeks, so lots of walks to come. She's a spaniel so no way could I turn her down. And I need to build up my strength and resilience.

Phew! My confidence is increasing very slowly, and I am determined to make the most of this precious time.
