The story of my ovarian cancer discovery is here

This is such an important health issue - there's a reason why OC is called the 'silent killer'. I really want more women to be aware of what few symptoms there are (I wasn't).

This is my story. I hope it's a long one.

Thinking of you today TQ. Mind yourself,x

Itscurtainsforyou · 26/03/2018 12:07

Another one checking in to say I'm thinking of you today and have everything crossed

TwitterQueen1 · 26/03/2018 13:58

Aaagh! Results not back yet. I had a feeling this might be the case! I only had the scan last Monday and normally it takes two weeks to get the results so I don't know why my consultant booked an appointment for today. I was so stressed about it and now I just feel exhausted and very fragile emotionally.

The consultant did say that he'd a look at the images and they looked the same as before, ie at the end of November, but that we needed to wait for the radiologist's report. Tbh if there is no progression that is good news to me. He also said it's not in the lungs, which again is good news as I was a bit worried about that. I don't get breathless exactly but I do feel like I've run out of air sometimes if that makes sense...

thanks everyone for the kind thoughts. I will update again when I have more news. My onc nurse will ring with the results when she has them but I don't know when that will be.

Well, I think I would be cautiously optimistic at that interim report. But how frustrating for you, so sorry that there is yet more delay. Despite all that is going on, I do hope you and your lovely DDs have a good Easter together. You are amazing the way you are coping with everything, sounds as though you went alone to the appointment. Lots of Easter eggs and Flowers xx

Itscurtainsforyou · 26/03/2018 14:54

That's good news for now, hopefully you can have it confirmed asap. Another step forward TQ, you're doing so well.

mytether · 27/03/2018 13:18

Hi TQ. Posted up-thread, just checking in here and wanted to let you know that I am still following and still sending you every single good wish I've got. I hope you can rest, I can only imagine how exhausting it is waiting for and getting results. Take care, you are incredible.

TwitterQueen1 · 28/03/2018 16:51

I chased up the scan results with my onc nurse and got confirmation of good news Smile. No progression at all, and the tumour at the top of my spleen has reduced from 1.9 cm to 1.6 cm. This is very reassuring after 3 cycles and definitely in the right direction.

Also no evidence of lung mets, which again is good news considering all the congestion last year. Right kidney has minor issue, and one cyst remains on the liver which no-one is worried about as it may have been there before and it's not doing anything.

Nobody likes chemo but when you have cancer, chemo is your friend.

I'm feeling very relieved and reassured. I need another mindset change though. I've put on way too much weight and I need to get off my bum and be more active instead of just sitting and watching crap tv.

Happy Easter everyone!

flyright · 04/04/2018 07:37

Lovely news. And with the weather improving you can maybe get outside for a bit of exercise. Or gardening. I believe that kind of thing is called for this time of year - need to take my own advice!

TwitterQueen1 · 05/04/2018 15:57

Chemo #4 (in this round) today. Time is just rattling on. All very smooth except for the usual 'can't see a vein, vein not behaving, let's try another one...' palaver but it went in 2nd time. We've given up on my left arm completely - it looks normal but it just won't play ball.

Crisps were on offer on the lunch trolley today! That's the first time I've been offered them - very welcome they were too. We also now have to wear a name band, which is another new practice. I guess that's in case we collapse mid-treatment .

Much chocolate was (and still is being) consumed over the Easter break. DDs gave me Monty Bojangles truffles (Waitrose) amongst other items like a Lindt bunny - all of which are absolutely delicious.

Gardening is mostly pretend now flyrightEaster Sad -my whole front garden needs a massive makeover but I'm pretty much limited to pruning and planting the odd flower. I'm focusing on crocheting for Woolly Hugs instead.

Hope everyone is well and enjoying the sun.

flyright · 05/04/2018 16:43

Fair enough re the gardening.

The ears are the best bit of a Lindt bunny although sometime the base is pleasingly thick. Just less satisfying somehow.

TwitterQueen1 · 20/04/2018 11:08

I've just had my hair cut! And I feel so much better for it. It's my 1st cut in nearly a year - since the chemo buzz cut last May. It's not growing quickly as my current chemo (Caelyx) slows growth, but I had grown grey wispy curly bits at the sides which were ageing and annoying. I do have some quite nice grey highlights along with some brown coming up behind the grey.

This is not the most exciting post ever, but I though I would share anyway Grin.

It's me a good 10-12 days to feel anything like 'normal' again after #4 chemo. I haven't felt ill exactly, it's more like being in a zombie-like trance where you just can't be bothered to do very much or respond to people. Feeling good today and off for coffee with some friends now. Have a lovely weekend everyone.

OP posts:
TwitterQueen1 · 20/04/2018 11:11

i should add that it's only a 'boy's' cut, ie short back 'n sides - but progress anyway.
