Ovulation sickness - anyone get this?

Since having children (never happened before) I get really incredibly nauseous around ovulation (feels like morning sickness) and also often the day before my AF starts.

Anyone else get this? It's awful and actually puts me off having another DC, have consisted it but the monthly reminder of how bad morning sickness is just makes me shudder. Interestingly I had hardly any morning sickness with DC1 but quote a bit with DC2 (both girls!) and I between those pregnancies developed getting motion sickness (never before) and started getting these weird hormonal nausea episodes.

Interested to hear if anyone else gets it and if so if you've found a cure...

I get this too, but not every month. My theory or observation with my body is that it depends on which side I ovulate on if I get this or not. Last month I had pains on my right side, so I’m assuming I ovulated on that side. And I had no bad symptoms. This month, now, I’ve been having pain on my left side, and all the symptoms… fatigue, nausea, heartburn, hot flashes, just feeling awful. Could just be coincidence and nothing at all to do with which side I ovulate.

But I’m happy I found this thread to know I’m not the only one that gets this!

I googled ovulation sickness and just found this website. After reading so many posts about fèeling sick during ovulation I'm actually very relieved to hear it's not just me. For the last five years I've been feeling sick exactly two weeks before my period. I am extremely tired, achy and brain foggy. It lasts for a few days every month. I'm turning 52 in July and I should just be done with this sort of thing!!

Low iron is the cause.
day 1-14 requires a high iron diet
keto works best

brekky;
100g home made organic beef patty
(50% beef liver and 50% beef mince)
Free range bacon
1 organic egg
3 sliced mushrooms
1 grilled tomato

coffee, alcohol and black tea depletes the body of it’s iron stores. Green tea is better.

jucing green vegetables helps to drive bad oestrogen out of your liver. The liver causes the sickness when you ovulate.

boosting your body with vitamin C and b vitamins help during ovulation.

beef liver smells and tastes awful, however if you mince it up and add taco seasoning garlic and onion, it tastes better.

Omg so glad I found this. Never had children but I started feeling like this yesterday like waves of nausea. I also have a cold too so maybe thinking the cold has hit my immune system right at ovulation and so now I have this too which I have never felt before. I am turning 37 this year and so I'm thinking maybe it staring to change as my cycle keeps getting longer too. Thanks for making me feel less anxious about this which it turn probably made it worse too. So glad I found this place

@jules5232 I know this thread is super old, but I found it today and I could've written your comment myself. I have pelvic pain and all the same symptoms you listed off. I've suspected IC as well. What did you end up finding to be the trigger for you? Was it solely ovulation?

jules5232 · 16/12/2022 20:55

@melyssam Hi! I'm sorry you don't feel great. I actually do still get this. I just had a baby a year ago and for a few months actually didnt, but the last few have been back to it! Not every month is so bad, and I don't suffer nearly as much as I did year ago! I do get tract infections every now and then so sometimes that would have been causing my pain, and IC specialists were able to rule that diagnosis out very quickly.
If it is not an infection, it is almost always ovulation for me that triggers the pain. I also had some issues with a hypertonic pelvic floor after the pain started, but doing some stretches helped with that a lot. If you feel like that might be a possible reason for your pain, I would highly suggest that you look into it. Being tight in those muscles can cause a lot of pelvic pain and irritation. There's a lot of evidence and information about it. I hope that any of this might be helpful for you!

Bumping this thread as I have been suffering the symptoms exactly described here. From just before ovulation I get awful nausea and fatigue, as well as increased anxiety. The pelvic pain comes and goes. But I am struggling with how these symptoms are affecting my life.

it’s interesting someone mentioned low iron as I am always borderline anaemic. I wonder if that does impact.
