General Health Improvement - anyone up for joining me?

I've realised I've deprioritised my own health - mental and physical - in the last year and I need to do some things to get myself sorted. I've been trying to lose weight but it's not working, mainly because I'm also stressed, too tired, drinking too much wine, etc etc. I also get migraines and heartburn. So - I'm starting a thread on digging in to the root cause and trying to fix from there up. I'm going to try small fixes day by day rather than set myself a big goal. Today's fixes are a long walk, sunscreen and no alcohol. I'll get more into what I think the root causes might be as I go. Anyone up for joining in?

unavita the nytols do the trick for me, lovely restful sleep, and don't feel too out of it in the morning. Did my full stretch routine this morning and my back is feeling much better. DH is now away for a week, but chucked some music on loud this morning and DS and I had a boogie round the lounge so feeling upbeat. Big day at work coming up, got to run a 4 hour workshop to decide business strategy for the next year today...

Lovely stretching, good job on that! Need to add it to my list too. Good luck at work 😊

That headspace app is great! It didn't get me to sleep but has so much interesting stuff in it!

How are people doing? I'm improving with eating and drinking, and I managed a longer walk than usual yesterday (still not far but good for me IYSWIM). Unfortunately have been unwell since last night, flare up of one of my conditions, so need to see what happens with that.

JontyDoggle37 · 18/06/2017 06:22

Caglio that's great about the walking. Shame about the flare up - without intending to sound like an arse could you view each one as a learning opportunity - what triggered it, and what gets me out of it as quickly as possible? Maybe you could experiment with a few things and keep a diary?
I've got to say, I'm feeling pretty good and a lot better than when I started this thread. DS has suddenly started mostly sleeping through on his own, I've toughened up and put the dog in the kitchen overnight and DH has been away for a week, so I've actually had restful sleep and woken up not feeling knackered. I've replaced my pillow as I was getting more neck pain and today I've got up and it feels better. I've gone for a few lunchtime walks at work, even with impending deadlines, because I knew it was better for me. Yesterday I carved out time to get my horse on the lorry and take him to the local forest for a long ride, which was bliss. I've also lost weight even though I haven't been properly calorie counting. I've also started a 'body health workout' I'm aiming to do four times a week, which is basically all my physio exercises and a bunch of yoga stretches rolled into one half hour session - that will help my back and neck as well. The worst thing for me is lack of sleep - I'm actually a bit worried about DH coming home in case he screws up my sleep again! Think I will have a word when he gets home as he's a nightmare for sitting on his phone in bed, or having the to on and playing around with all the programming, which means loads of clicking on the remote. Anyway, today I'm taking DS swimming and thena. Dog walk if we can get out before it's too hot, plus a load of household chores to catch up on. Gratuitous pic added of lovely woods rode yesterday!

Hello health improvers! Molly checking in...

Caglio chamomile tea is great for aiding restful sleep.

Jonty, soooo jealous of your forest rides

I've been walking -13 miles yesterday which is a lot for me, but the seaside called my name and it was easy.

Molly that's great mileage 😁
My horse practically loads himself in the Horsebox, it was actually catching him in the field that took 25 minutes yesterday!😂He loves sunbathing and didn't fancy doing any work at first!

Loving the photos! I'm having another restful day as still tachycardic. Not in a dangerous sense I mean, it is a key symptom in one of my conditions, but it has a knock on effect on everything iyswim - dizzy, headache etc. It's not normally this constant, so may have to speak to someone if it goes on much longer. They may take it seriously due to the pregnancy, not sure if it's making my condition worse :( otherwise yes I'm not entirely sure what triggers it, heat doesn't help but also the general 'overdoing it' type thing.

Also nausea is back despite being 19 weeks Angry and it's making it really difficult to keep drinking water, I feel more sick after a couple of sips.

Sorry for negative post!

JontyDoggle37 · 18/06/2017 15:14

Caglio that's why we're all here, to vent to when we're down and give each other a helping hand back up. I think you're enormously brace going through pregnancy combined with your health issues. Cut yourself a break woman! On the feeling sick, if you put cucumber/lime slices in the water, would it make you feel less sick?

Morning all
Bad night with DS, wouldn't go down to sleep until 9pm and then woke at 2 and I couldn't get him back to sleep until 3. Still managed to get up at 5 and blast through a load of chores, so starting the week feeling on top of things which is good.
Health-wise, in doing really well with my water and lost a bit more weight yesterday. I'm really worried, however, about my back/neck/shoulder that I've been having physio for. Getting lots of pins and needles in my right hand and arm, which is freaking me out a bit, and also the muscles either side of my spine are almost constantly in spasm. Seeing my physio tomorrow so will see what she says.

Thank you Jonty I wouldn't call myself brave TBH, shall we say this baby was a surprise :o Blush a happy surprise mind you, we are thrilled, but I'm still not sure it's quite sunk in!

Sorry about the pins and needles etc, trapped nerve perhaps?

MollyHuaCha · 19/06/2017 18:05

This heat is so exhausting where I am. I went for a cooling swim but could only manage 20 minutes. Caglio, hope you are managing to stay cool and rested. Jonty, hope your DS sleeps soundly tonight which will mean you'll be able to too. Good luck with the physio.

JontyDoggle37 · 22/06/2017 08:19

Morning all, super busy here as usual. Physio went well, digging down to root cause of all the issues which is good. Sadly not sleeping quite as well since DH is home (he is such a bloody fidget!) but still a lot better than before. Have found a really good stretch routine for horse riders on Facebook so I'm building that into my morning stretch routine, and I got out for a run yesterday while it was still cool. Definitely seeing a difference in my body now, and 4lbs down in weight too. I'm generally feeling a lot calmer and not so stressed as well, even though this week has been very full on at work. Onwards and upwards! Molly and Caglio hope you're coping ok with the heat x
