You won t believe this Cod, but I have exactly the same thing. It won t go away. Has come every winter for 3 years, dry, itchy, red, outer corner of my eye and slightly swollen upper lid. Hydrocortisone helps, but then it comes back again. Tried no slap, but I look too scary.

I wonder if Enid is right about stress. Cos I used to get excema as teenager before exams. And with secondary transfer it s a wonder my whole face didn t fall off.

I repeat -

NO SLAP for 18 MONTHS

then you will be fine

TheDullWitch · 06/03/2007 12:45

You can get hyrdocortisone over counter now. But really you shouldn t use it too often.

Does it feel like an allergy? My mum had a thing where her eyes would be very weepy, and bizarrely it was because she wasn't producing enough tears, so the eyeball was drying out, which seemed to then cause overproduction of tears. She had it fixed with a laser eventually.

Iota · 06/03/2007 12:46

wear sunglasses all the time

Enid · 06/03/2007 12:48

mine spread to the sides of my nose

drink loads of water

Iota · 06/03/2007 12:49

18 months cold turkey and a complete cure

OR

keep wearing slap and keep getting outbreaks that have to be tamed by hydrocortisone

you choose.....

Enid · 06/03/2007 13:54

also chuck away all eye stuff

creams, foundation, the lot

dont wear any make up for a week and see if it improves

SaintGeorge · 06/03/2007 20:37

Eyes doesn't always get really gunky with blepharitis but it can cause the symptoms you have.

There are some more serious eye conditions too so please ask for a referal to an eye clinic if it doesn't clear up soon coddy.

Speaking from experience, I have permanent eye damage because my eye condition wasn't diagnosed quickly enough.

Iota · 07/03/2007 13:39

how's the eye today?

are you wearing make-up? [hard stare]
