Feeling so ill

Day 4 now. Day 1, felt rough - cough, nose, eyes, cheekbones, etc. Didn't sleep all night.
Day 2 was meant to do a night shift. Felt grim. Took a nap to try and prepare. Luckily work phoned and gave annual leave as quiet. Stupid thinking I could work.
Day 3 (yesterday) another night shift. Phoned in sick. Temp 37.9, heart rate 146, coughing and breathlessness.
Day 4 (today) mostly slept. Weak and exhausted. Cough, sore throat, etc., continues.

I've never felt this bad in my life. It's taken me ages to type this. I'm pretty sure it's viral. Could be a flu strain (had my jab at work, ITU) or just a very heavy cold. ButI can barely walk.

How much longer will I be this unwell? I have 3 children to think about.

Polter....Thank goodness I broke up on Friday 16th with the kids.
Otherwise I would have been off sick all week.
Hope you feel better soon x

Yep me too-nearly 3 weeks ago started with flu type of thing bad cough. Went to GP last Wednesday and it's developed into pneumonia 😩I'm in hospital since Wed on IV fluids antibiotics and horrid vile steroids. Possible discharge Monday if off oxygen. Crap Christmas!

PurpleMcPants · 24/12/2016 17:27

Sorry to hear that furcoat, I had pneumonia a few years back and it wiped me out for ages. Hope you get out of there soon.
I've been trying really hard to join in getting stuff ready for tomorrow but can't keep going, have to accept I'm nowhere near fit yet.

Allfurcoatandnoknickers · 24/12/2016 17:31

Thanks- got evil appetite thanks to steroids, oxygen levels reasonable just going to be a long recovery- warned me 3/6 months which is pretty crap. I've got pots too so everything takes longer to get over! How long was your recovery would you say?

PurpleMcPants · 24/12/2016 20:13

About 6 weeks I'd say BUT it was comparatively mild and i wasn't hospitalised with it thankfully. I'd had 3 or 4 chest infections in a row before it developed though so was ill for months and months. I turned up at the Gp with my then-2 year old in tow, she was horrified I was in sole charge of a small child!

Badders123 · 25/12/2016 16:29

Finished abx
Still coughing
Should I just accept it's viral or go back to dr when it opens on weds?

BobbyNoggle · 25/12/2016 17:19

Go back on Weds.
Your GP must have thought it was a bacterial chest infection to prescribe ABs in the first place.
I had a chest infection few yrs back, that required three different courses of ABs to shift. Ended up on lastly on ciprofloxaxin, which did clear it up.
Horrendous.

P1nkP0ppy · 25/12/2016 17:24

Another cough victim here, 6 days and counting 😷
My ribs ache, my throat is raw and I can't stop coughing. Gone back to bed but can't sleep.
Thoroughly miserable me 😢

Just to clarify the salad won't be going in the oven Xmas Blush

lougle · 25/12/2016 18:56

No night shift for me tonight. I managed to stand up for an hour or so at Mum and Dad's, but I'm thoroughly exhausted now. Very headachey but less sneezy and the cough is starting to ease too.

My DD who is 46 has never in her life had a cold, or any other infection that lasted more than two days. She is ridiculously healthy.
Until now. She's had this cold virus for six days. It's some kind of record for her. She ate about a quarter of her lunch and is currently asleep in the living room.
No, she's just popped in to say she's off to bed.
If if gets her, with am immune system that defies most illnesses, goodness knows what other (normal) people must be going through.

I feel like shit!!! Cough so bad it hurts my head to cough!

Badders123 · 25/12/2016 20:21

Crazy...yep!

PurpleMcPants · 25/12/2016 22:18

Finished my ab's today too but still feeling so weak and just woken myself up coughing. I have a script for another course of a different ab so will get that tomorrow hopefully. I'd go back to the docs if you're no better Wednesday Badders.

I've got a pain deep in my lower right lung when I cough now. It's so painful!

Badders123 · 27/12/2016 10:03

Oh lougle 😞
I'm still coughing up gunk so im going back to the Dr tomorrow

Ds1 has raging tonsilitis so he is feeling really rough too

BobbyNoggle · 27/12/2016 10:36

Oh poor you LougleFlowers, it really is a horrible illness.
Are you going to try & see your GP tomorrow? Sounds like you're maybe developing a chest infection ?

lougle · 27/12/2016 15:57

Sorry you're feeling rough.

I'm not sure if it's just a pulled muscle. It feels very deep behind the ribs but I suppose it could be a small muscle that's twinged. I'm still producing yellow mucus, but it's shifting and I'm not bringing it up when I'm coughing. My O2 sats are good, so I think it's still viral. I'm just wiped out. I'm back to work tomorrow. Just a short 8 hour shift, but quite daunting. If I don't go back I'll need a Fit Note and I really don't fancy organising that at this time of year Hmm
