i dont think he should. mum had arranged to take him tomorow for me. hes got it in both eyes, doesnt look gungy just watery and all red underneath . on antibiotics and eyedrops from today. mum doesnt seem put off by it but if he touches a babies face, which he loves the babies wont they get it

No - it is highly contageous - children are not allowed to go to school or nursery with it so shouldn't be at toddlers - I would be fuming if someone put my child at risk of getting something which would make them poorly and uncomfortable.

quadrophenia · 29/01/2007 14:14

no I wouldn't

goosd brandy7. how is ds apart from his eyers?

SmileysPeople · 29/01/2007 14:34

No.
I am even off work with it today myself.
seems a bit of a crap reason, but my eyes are just little slits in my faec and oozing with gunge.
Should adults stay off work too?
I guess I am less likely than my ds to rub my eye and then poke my finger into someine else's eye or mouth, or generally smear my gunge about.
But it could happen.

princessmel · 29/01/2007 14:35

No

brandy7 · 29/01/2007 14:35

jelly, dont worry hes not going

misdee, hes okish other than the eyes. STILL waiting for a 2nd opinion in London and STILL waiting for him to even be put on the list for his echo.

fortyplus · 29/01/2007 14:37

Definitely not - it's highly contagious and it would be totally unfair on everyone else.
Sadly there are selfish people who do take their children out with it - that's probably how yours got it in the first place.
You are doing the right thing by keeping him away.

misdee · 29/01/2007 14:37

&still thats not on!

SmileysPeople · 29/01/2007 14:38

What about me?

Should adults go to work?

I don't think I could drive very safely today on the motorway, but I am intending going tomorrow.

bandstand · 29/01/2007 14:41

try usng that as an excuse?

HuwEdwards · 29/01/2007 14:43

No - v.contagious

brandy7 · 29/01/2007 14:43

smiley, my friend had conjunctivitis and has just had a week off work. presumed it was because of the pain, ididnt realise how contagious it was till i googled it

fortyplus · 29/01/2007 14:44

You will be aware of when you accidentally rub your eyes, so it's fine for you to go to work as long as you wash your hands every time you touch your eyes and don't share a towel with anyone.
