I dunno .. I wasn't the business end .. it was during a smear which was rather longer and more uncomfortable than the initial anticipation

Anyeay, mine is at an odd angle which is why I have to lie on my side for a smear, and why lying on my side during labour got things moving more quickly. Apparently.

Well, the bottom joins the top of thew vagina, surely, and the top must be somewhere near the womb?

the cervix is just the bit between the uterus and the vagina, i dont get how the top can be near the womb, the whole thing IS the bottom of the womb

No, I think TT meant the womb is at the top of the cervix.

childbirth would maybe alter your cervix, twig? or has it happened in the last week or sommat?

Its not abnormal dont worry.Most peoples cervixes are central and to the back.Some are to the left and some are to the right.Some are so damn difficult to find they are up by your tonsils but it doesn`t sound abnormal.If i examine someone i always have to document where the cervix is,ie to maternal right ect.That is just to reference for future internals to make it easier to locate.

Yes, that is what I meant, although I phrased it badly. I did imagine cervices were longer though - I think I once read that a cervix was narrower than a match and sort of assumned it was also as long as a match. I dunno.

it was fine last year (january) and over the course of the year its shifted (no childbirth in between)

Oh I had the whole clinic in to find mine, spot light on the job and everything. Just when I thought it couldnt get any worse my next door neighbours sister walked in.

Ah now. If it was uncomfortable,perhaps the lying on your side thing might work for you. Now of course it does mean you have one leg int he air, which makes the request to 'just relax' even more ridiculous, but the actual insertion time is reduced. Well, for my particular angle of wonkiness anyway.

Oh and from inserting my mooncup I know mine looks a bit to the one side as well. Gave birth perfectly OK, so I'm sure it doesn't matter.
Sleepymumof3, are you a midwife? Just because I haven't met a midwife who documented the position of a cervix in such detail, mostly they just seem to say posterior, central anterior.
