Was reading about Ashley Giles' wife at the weekend. She was diagnosed just before Christmas, and he had to come home from Australia. She is already well on the way to recovery.

Fingers crossed for you.

CountessDracula · 24/01/2007 13:08

teecee · 24/01/2007 13:09

snowleopard · 24/01/2007 13:09

Sorry to hear your news onlyjoking. Yes I know two people who have had them. One was malignant (ie cancer) and it was sucessfully removed with one op - he is fine a good 30+ years later. The other was benign but very large, she also had it removed and is fine about 10 years on. Hope you can take some comfort from these, and that your DH makes a full and quick recovery.

Blu · 24/01/2007 13:10

My fingers are crossed for you and your family, onlyjoking. What a lot to have to dealwith - you must be out of your mind with worry.

I guess there will be lots of complicated factors, lots of causes and ifs and buts about position, size, type etc etc...but I do someone who has had a completely trouble-free recovery from a brain tumour following straightforward treatment.

aderyn · 24/01/2007 13:10

Sorry to hear your news. The only person I knew who had a brain tumor has turned out perfectly fine. This was a family friend and happened about 20 years ago. My parents are still in touch and the woman lives a normal happy life.

noddyholder · 24/01/2007 13:11

OJ so sorry to hear this as others have said there are so many types and many are harmless Hoping your dh gets good news xx

Twiglett · 24/01/2007 13:13

sorry to hear this OJ .. couldn't let your post go without replying

I hope you get a great prognosis

mouseman · 24/01/2007 13:14

What a worry for you. My husband had one in 1997. It was a terribly worrying time but he is fine now. He had to have his Pituitary gland removed as the tumour was on it and is now drug dependant but this was just bad luck with the location. I know that many people receive treatment and are fine. Please try not to worry too much and let me know if I can offer you any support.

kittylette · 24/01/2007 13:16

omg, im so sorry to hear this,

my DFs cousin was only 25 and he developed a brain tumour, it didnt look good and he actully lost his eyesight, but 6 months later after fearing the worst he is completely fine now and his eyesights returned

and hes got the all clear after intensive radiotherapy, and is 100% back to normal

thinking of you all xxx

Plibble · 24/01/2007 13:17

Sorry to hear about this. I have no experience of this personally, but my brother has a friend who has had a brain tumor since birth. It is large and is inoperable but benign. He is now in his late 20s and, although it could turn malignant, there is a pretty good chance that it won't. I believe it has little or no bearing on how he lives his life.
I hope you get good news.

Flamesparrow · 24/01/2007 13:17

No help, but thinking of you xxxxx

Wilbur · 24/01/2007 13:19

So sorry to hear this, what horrible news for you. I had a friend in my teens who had a brain tumour and was treated (had a big op and a long recovery) and is she now completely fine, has had children and everything. Take care.

Pinkchampagne · 24/01/2007 13:20

So sorry to hear this, OJ. It must have been an awful shock for you.
All the best to you & your DH.

onlyjoking9329 · 24/01/2007 13:21

thanks for all yuor messages, the difficulty is our three kids have autism, which means finding childcare is a nightmare and they don't have the understanding to know whats happening, which in one way is a blessing but it is hard as they don't understand why i am upset.
