Dd is fast asleep and has been having a nightmare. She is 3. Her temp is 94.4. The house isn't particularly warm adn she has Vallergan for her excema. Should I do anything like take her to hospital?

Take her temp again and see if it is rising is she still up or gone back to bed?

Pixiefish · 23/01/2007 22:17

I've not woken her at all. Her temp seems to be creepinmg up slowly.

\Thats good do you feel more relaxed about her? If you want her to see a doctor tell NHS direct, your her mum and you know best...but otherwise I'm hanging aroud to see how it goes xx

EmmyLou · 23/01/2007 22:27

I'd keep her in bed with you so you can keep an eye on her and have spoken to someone who can put your mind at rest a bit.

Pixiefish · 23/01/2007 22:33

I've put another quilt over her and she's in my bed. I think I'll sit up with her for a while to see. burningthecandle- If I suddenly disappear I might have taken her in so don't stay up worrying if i don't get back to you tonight. If NHS Direct tell me to take her in then I won't be hanging around

God no of course not honey. I will keep my fingers crossed and take it easy...I'll be thinking of you and DD do post and let us know how tonight went tommorrow, best wishes and for DD

EmmyLou · 23/01/2007 22:38

Could you google Vallergan and see if temp drop can be a side effect?

cheeryface · 23/01/2007 22:43

i have had ds with a low temperature before. once when he had a migraine and a couple of times when he was recovering from a virus.

i was told by someone on mumsnet that it was o.k so i did nothing about it and he was fine.

hope she is o.k

Pixiefish · 23/01/2007 22:46

95.3 now. NHS Direct still not rung back

kid · 23/01/2007 22:53

I'm not good with minimum temperatures, I only know when its too hot.
DS had a temp of 41.1 tonight, that really freaked me out. I can't wait for the morning so I can take him drs.

I hope NHS Direct are able to reassure and advise you.

BURNINGTHECANDLE · 23/01/2007 22:58

Pixie ring back NHS direct they are normally faster than this!!! It's not right

BURNINGTHECANDLE · 23/01/2007 22:59

Hello kid has the temp gone down yet or the usual tepid spounging and all that..

Pixiefish · 23/01/2007 23:01

emmylou- low temp not listed with Vel;lergan

NHS DIrect just rung back. Could be cos she is overtired (she had a bad night last night)

Her temp is now 96.7 so they say not to worry but to make sure it doesnt raise too quickly.

OP posts:
BURNINGTHECANDLE · 23/01/2007 23:04

No because she could go into shock if it was too quick but it has been gradual so that is good...Are you ok? Feel better now theyv'e called back?

BURNINGTHECANDLE · 23/01/2007 23:05

By the way 96.7 is considered to be in the realms of normal

kid · 23/01/2007 23:07

BURNINGTHECANDLE - I gave him max dose of calpol and ibuprofen and sponged him down. Last time I checked his temperature it had gone down to 38.1
He needs to be seen by a Dr, he has been poorly for 4 days

BURNINGTHECANDLE · 23/01/2007 23:10

Oh Kid I'm sorry yep tis the season for coughs and sneezes and other diseases...look I'm a poet
But keep an eye on the temp and keep it down as much as you can and I hope your night is not to disturbed and you get some sleep. Let us know how you get on xx

kid · 23/01/2007 23:14

Looks like yet another long night for me then. I don't mind as long as he is ok. I am still managing not to fall asleep at work after several broken nights sleep.
DS is 4 so is able to tell me what hurts. I thought he had 'man flu' but I am more worried now.
I'll see what the Dr says tomorrow.

LisaHy · 23/01/2007 23:16

I've been following this thread all night - felt bad that I was not more helpful at the beginning - we are all used to the high temperatures, but not low ones - it's really hard to find out any info. I am sure she will be OK, especially since you are keeping such a close eye on her. Hope all is well.

mrsnoah · 23/01/2007 23:16

Kid, thats too high.
how old is your DS?

BURNINGTHECANDLE · 23/01/2007 23:17

Good luck you have my sympathy good night kid good night Pixie of to bed soon

mrsnoah · 23/01/2007 23:17

Kid
ok. I see.
If it gets that high agin I would not hesitate and take him straight to Hospital.

kid · 23/01/2007 23:25

I almost did earlier. He is drowsy too but I put that down to the medicine. I am going to check on him again before I go to bed in a minute. I hate it when either child is ill, but temperatures that high really scare me. The highest it reached was 41.5 but I immediately stripped him off and sponged him down. When I did that, he cried that he was cold and doesn't want the water on him. Its tepid water I am using but I guess that still feels cold to him.

MamaMaiasaura · 23/01/2007 23:27

Pixie those ear ones are crap. I have a nurofen one and is utter rubbish. I do the traditional under the armpit one - simple and add .6 if C of 1 if F
