So after a mmc in August at 12 ish weeks I have had a lot of random health niggles and various Dr's appointments (at one point they even mentioned lymphoma) but I still have no idea what is wrong with me so feel free to comment as any ideas are welcome as I cannot remember the last time I didn't have some sort of pain and I feel like a rubbish mum to ds and we also want to ttc ASAP but I don't feel like it would be sensible at the moment until I feel better able to cope my symptoms are as follows:
Pain in my shoulder all the time this sometimes is accompanied by numbness in my arm and hand and pins and needles especially in the middle of the night.
Since December I have had pain in my lower back that radiates down my left bum cheek and leg sometimes as far down as my ankle which had been know to wake me up sometimes it is worse than others last week was fine this week it has woken me up at 4 am every morning.
I have had bloods done for thyroid, liver function and fb all fine, I have had a scan on my gall bladder all fine, periods are just getting back to normal after mc and I have ibs and have had for years so tummy sometimes sore but I have had this for years. My Gp says he thinks it is muscular and at first just gave me something for the pain and has now requested physio but I am not convinced as it has been going on so long. I am totally fed up that I am only 34 and my body has turned against me, plus it wasn't helped yesterday when a lovely colleague said that they knew someone with back ache like mine and they were dead within a few months cos it was cancer Confused

Thanks for the link, I was thinking of calling gp and seeing if they would refer me for a scan as I was thinking gyne issue like ovarian cysts as I k ow they can cause back and leg pain too, although I had a scan at start of Aug when pregnant so hadn't thought it could b that till now, endo could be a possibility I might mention that too I don't want to keep ringing them tho they may just think I am a time wasting I will keep u updated, I think the shoulder may be related to wisdom teeth just found out they have to come out

Google pirriformis syndrome
Sounds like what you have

CPtart · 01/03/2016 21:38

I've had lower back, buttock, hip and leg pain for 3 months now. It's a struggle to turn over in bed, sit, stand or walk for long periods etc. I've had sciatica before, but this is a different kind of pain. GP thinks it's a problem with the sacro-iliac joint and referred me to physio initially. They told me last week I have one leg slightly longer than the other (!) not that uncommon apparently, causing pelvic tilt, abnormal posture and spasm of all the muscles on the affected side. Also had plantar fasciitis last year on the same side which now makes sense. Have been referred for special insoles and see physio again tomorrow for another pummelling in attempts to release the tension and stretch the appropriate muscles. Piriformis was mentioned. Really hoping these methods work as GP mentioned steroid injections into the joint which I don't fancy at all.

lozwil · 02/03/2016 06:46

I hope the insoles work tbh if they offered me anything I would take it right now, I really want to ttc but have a feeling if u do I am going to be laid up for 9 months I don't thing my mood is helping I should have a new born now and when it went wrong thought I would at least be preggers by now but I am scared to incase I have some thin seriously wrong with me I know I am been over dramatic just felt awful for last 4 mnts and not even capable of looking after my ds who is 5 properly sat here with a wheat bag on my hip wondering how the hell i am going to get him sorted for school as dh has left for work and how I am going to manage a day Sat at my desk

Have they tested your vitamin D levels? I had joint pain, numbness and tingling in my hands and feet, exhaustion and urine tests were positive for blood (not visible though). I was diagnosed with vitamin D deficiency and now take a supplement. I feel better than I have done for years. Hope it turns out to be something easy to fix for you.

lozwil · 02/03/2016 19:13

I don't think they have tested for vit d I will have to check when I call them I am having a nerve conduction test tomorrow to see if I have a nerve problem in my arm and back so we will see what that shows x x x

So I still have pain above my hip at the back, where my love handles would be (cos of course I don't have any lol). I think I am going to call GP to check as aparently my last sample was clear of infection and blood but this feels like it could be kidney related or I am wondering if it could be related to the ibs I am being investegated for. I may even mention if I can get checked for ovarian cysts as aparently they can also cause this type of pain

Oh dear SadThat sounds miserable. Hope you start to feel better soon.

lozwil · 10/03/2016 13:25

It is paddington I am normally so upbeat but after weeks of being in pain I feel awful I know it will be ok in the long run and once they find out what the problem is the likely hood is it will be easily fixed the good news is spoke with a different Dr who is referring me for a pelvic scan and blood test for cancer markers so at least they are nor fobbing me off fingers crossed it's nothing serious tho x

Soo got a call from Dr asking me to go in ASAP as they want to do further investigations around my kidneys as I have had 2 urine test with blood in (the last one was clear) especially as I have back pain too will.have to wait till Monday we have a family history of ckd so doesn't look good it at least if that is what it is I can hopefully get the correct tratment and feel better even if it means no more dc's

OP posts:
lozwil · 13/03/2016 06:20

Arrrgh up at 4 again cos of back pain going to pay to see someone as gp doesn't think it is anything to worry about, it might not be but if nothing is done on Monday even an xray then I am going to have to do something

lozwil · 14/03/2016 10:07

So went to Dr still blood in urine but they said I have to wait for results of pelvic scan before they will refer me to urology which is at the end of the month they don't think back pain is connected to it tho ffs still getting nowhere this month I hope scan shows something feels.lime I am going mad

The only thing that occurs to me is that the arm/hand shoulder thing sounds similar to issues I've had, which the GP put down to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. There is a minor op which will cure it apparently, but I've not pursued that - mine comes and goes and isn't really too bad. But that waking up with pins and needles and an arm numbness is classic of Carpal Tunnel.

lozwil · 20/03/2016 07:30

Thanks Hassled I saw neurologist on Fri and he says I might have mild carpal tunnel but cos of my age(34) he wouldn't do the op just yet. He also said that he could not find any nerve damage so whatever it is hopefully isn't permenant. Hope your Capel tunnel isn't too bad x x

Soooooo the saga continues, still feeling really run down and having back pain, pelvic exam and ultra sound fine, so not problems there. Went to see gastroenterology and consultant basically said that he wouldn't do any further Investigations due to my age it couldn't be anything serious so really worried not sure what my age has to do with anything tbh so back to GP next week as this is concerning as df family have a history of bowel probs. Fed up but trying to get on with stuff

Oh no, hope you feel better soon. I'm suffering with terrible IBS at moment so can sympathise- hope you get to the bottom of what's going on x

Newkidontheblock22 · 01/04/2016 06:50

First time poster so bare with me!

Just thought I would post as your symptoms mirror some of mine and I have recently been diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. The shoulder pain could be due to the tendon being inflamed where it joins the bone.
Worth pushing at GP to get some tests or a referral. Hope you feel better soon

StarTravels · 01/04/2016 08:03

Get copies of your thyroid blood results and post them. They may say they are normal but they may not be normal for you.

lozwil · 01/04/2016 08:28

Thanks all back to gp's on Thursday I am going to get a bit assertive I think I haven't slept since 2 this morning due to pain in my back and side and according to nice I should have been given a 2 wk referral for a colonoscopy cos of all the symptoms to rule anything sinister out I am going to write everything down ad I am rubbish when I get in there just want to know what's wrong so I can sort it or at least deal with it all.ds says now is are u going to Dr again he is 5 he shouldn't be worrying about me x
