endocarditis is inflammation of the heart wall I think It can be viral or bacterial cardiomyopathy is a word used to cover most heart muscle disorders

VeniVidiVickiQV · 12/12/2006 18:01

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 12/12/2006 18:01

chandra - i havent been back for any kind of check up since 1993 ! perhaps i should

VeniVidiVickiQV · 12/12/2006 18:37

Hers was an infection from blood....? She'd been ill for MONTHS before hand.

lulumama · 12/12/2006 18:39

glad to hear it went well, misdee. xx

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 12/12/2006 18:39

oh dear VVQ

did she have flu symptoms for a while? peter went down with a what seemed like flu/heavey cold. but he couldnt shake it off.

OP posts:
VeniVidiVickiQV · 12/12/2006 18:48

Very unwell - they thought it was gastric/digestive related. She lost loads of weight. They were ruling out cancers and thrombosis etc.

I think the infection in the blood stemmed from whatever was going on with that.

Very surprising considering all the tests done and consultants that checked her out.

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 12/12/2006 18:57

are they sure it was a virus, thr weight loss and being unwell sounds like heart failure in its stages to me. no-one thought peter had a heart problem, he was told it was a cold/flu/asthma/nothing and it was only until an x ray picked up the enlarged heart that they knew. blood tests wont pick it up.

well diagnostics shouldnt have been a problem (i dont know all the tests that were carried out but i know they were looking at as much as they could and various consultants were involved - her colleagues)

mrssnoah · 12/12/2006 19:54

Very relieved for you.
Was thinking about you today.
Its not the same but my DD2 had all sorts of heart problems in utero and for the first year. Scary times.
Glad all's well, try not to worry for the next 4 yrs. x

Chandra · 12/12/2006 20:13

Guess that makes up the point Jampot, that you get not to worry about having one to the point of forgetfulness (should we be checking our memory instead then? )

mummy2aaron · 12/12/2006 20:18
