I'm tempted to tie a piece of thread around it. Anyone else used this technique? How long should it take to drop off?

I had one under my boob,gp took it off with brny hot thing...painless

Couldn't do it myself

MerryMellowmas · 10/12/2006 19:49

My dh had one under his arm. We tied string tight round it, hurt a little bit but not very sore, it died and we found it in bed a few days later.

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 10/12/2006 19:51

how tight do you have to do it? i have two on my neck that i want rid of.

MerryMellowmas · 10/12/2006 19:53

Very tight. You need to kill the fecker!

Better to do it with the wire string stuff you can get. Only hurt for a minute. It must be a dangly one though.

treacletart · 10/12/2006 19:59

Oh its certainly dangly! What's wire string? Do you mean fishing wire? I wouldn't want to slice it off immediately! I was thinking along the lines of stong cotton..

OOOh I'm thinking it could be gone by Christmas!

I did it. It took a few days. I just used sewing cotton and tied it very tight. It sort of went hard first (blood got in, but couldn't get out. Then it shrivelled and dried up and then fell off. Sorry if tmi!

My husband had a skin tag removed by his GP at the doctor's surgery. He really didn't fancy the DIY approach. He had a stitch or two.

aliceband · 10/12/2006 20:03

i had one in a delicate place, it was burnt off!

BettySpaghetti · 10/12/2006 20:03

Does anyone know what causes them?

I get tiny ones on the top part of my underarm and occasionally around by my colar bone.

Thet are small and tend to eventually die and drop off by themselves so I've never had to do anything about them.

treacletart · 10/12/2006 20:05

Ok I'm heading for the sewing box....

Santa123 · 10/12/2006 20:06

A long strand of hair should also do it

treacletart · 10/12/2006 20:07

What colour should I use?

OP posts:
fortyplus · 10/12/2006 20:07

BettySpaghetti - they are a benign skin tumour. According to my GP the typical person who gets them is...

Female
Fat
Fair
Forty

MerryMellowmas · 10/12/2006 20:09

Go for red or blue [favourite colours)

treacletart · 10/12/2006 20:13

Tis done! DH did it and chose a sort of fleshy pink. He was really grossed out - Good job I'm already up the duff and we dont have to have sex for a while!

belgo · 10/12/2006 20:15

fortyplus -

"Female
Fat
Fair
Forty"

my dh is none of the above !

BettySpaghetti · 10/12/2006 20:15

fortyplus -well, I don't really fit your GPs criteria( I am one of them, not quite another and neither of the other two )

belgo · 10/12/2006 20:20

aliceband · 10/12/2006 20:27

...

aliceband · 10/12/2006 20:28

it's all made up!

wheresthehamster · 10/12/2006 20:32

I have one in the same place and I went to the GP last week because it had changed in shape and colour so I wanted to get it checked out.

The GP said I was the 3rd woman in that week with a skin tag in the same place!

Later I mentioned this to a friend and she said she had one there as well.

Perhaps we should start a club!

The clinic are going to remove mine as I'm too wimpy for DIY.
