I'm tempted to tie a piece of thread around it. Anyone else used this technique? How long should it take to drop off?

Female
Fat
Fair
Forty...

Probably means you're lined up for all sorts of nasties, then!

belgo · 10/12/2006 20:43

it's incredibly
sexist
fatist
fairist (you know what i mean)
age-ist(sp?)

JackieNoHoHo · 10/12/2006 20:48

I get these too - had a couple chopped off by the doctor.

I thought the 'Fair, fat and forty' thing was gallstones. And it only dawned on me recently that the 'fair' is not 'fair haired' but 'female' as in 'the fair sex'.

ClementClarkeMoore · 10/12/2006 20:51

Ah yes, was just about to advise the cotton thread method. Well done.

mistletoemania · 10/12/2006 21:11

i'd run out of string have so many mine are very visable so you'd see the stringiykwim i'm fair i'm not thin and i'm f**kin 39 this is a great one to cheer me up ta

aliceband · 10/12/2006 21:22

guess what, i googled fair fat and fourty, and got... gallstones .
so now we know.

pooter · 11/12/2006 00:11

Treacletart, I know im too late, but DONT DO IT!! I did the string thing on a skin tag i had on the back of my knee, and whilst it did work, in that it eventually fell off, it went all gooey and weird first [barf emoticon], before turning black and dropping off. Anyway, it grew back after a couple of months, so i went to the docs, he gave me a local anasthetic and chopped it off. I didnt feel a thing, and he was able to send it of for testing and reassure me that it was benign. So - go to the docs! It doesnt hurt!

treacletart · 11/12/2006 19:26

Well the deed is well and truly done...

Today it's swollen up into a ball and its turned a nice purple colour. Sorry was that too much information? Just figured anyone else contemplating the same procedure might be interested.

belgo · 11/12/2006 19:27

I was wondering what was happening! Thanks for the update

southeastastra · 11/12/2006 19:28

belgo · 11/12/2006 19:29

southeastastra - nail clippers sounds even more horrible!

southeastastra · 11/12/2006 19:30

i know but it was over with quick.

treacletart · 11/12/2006 19:32

Was there a lot of blood?

OP posts:
southeastastra · 11/12/2006 19:34

no not really, but don't try it! i just got fed up with it, it was under my arm

treacletart · 11/12/2006 19:35

oooh mine too! It was getting tricky to shave .

OP posts:
treacletart · 12/12/2006 21:17

It's a bit bigger and a little darker tonight - but it's not hard yet... do you think I did it tight enough??

Dh won't even look at it now

OP posts:
treacletart · 16/12/2006 12:02

Sorry if this is too much information, but its gone pale and a bit yellowy now but not drying out at all - is this right? Should it not have dropped off by now? - its been nearly a week. I'm worried I didn't do it tight enough although it certainly seemed as tight as possible at the time.

OP posts:
southeastastra · 16/12/2006 12:22

you should have just chopped it off

chaoschaos · 16/12/2006 13:39

I just pull mine off. Bleeds a bit, but if you press a tissue on very hard for a while it stops. Grosses out dh big time, so I do it when he's not around.

treacletart · 18/12/2006 09:13

Its gone!

I tied another thread round on Saturday and by last night it had shrivelled up and died.
Hurray!

OP posts:
LITTLEdonkeyFISH · 18/12/2006 13:07

Well done!! Did you tie the second piece tighter?

treacletart · 18/12/2006 14:26

Yes, a little tighter I think.

OP posts:
brimfull · 18/12/2006 14:30

My friend had them on her bum,she thought they were haemarrhoids.

tangodevon · 19/12/2006 10:08

My ex - a gp , says that you should cut it off with very sharp nail clippers

MerryMellowmas · 19/12/2006 10:09

[ouch emoticon]

Pleased it has gone
