You'll feel your symptoms getting worse because stress and anxiety worsens IBS. Not because you have PC, but because you are convinced that you do to the point where your Ibs symptoms are getting worse.

The left side pain could be an ulcer or h. pylori. That's easily tested for.

Baddz · 03/08/2015 08:41

Get some therapy.
Please don't go to a and e.
That's for people who are actually Ill and you will be taking resources from them to feed your anxiety further.
I'm not really sure how much use this thread is to you op :(
Go to your GP....print off this thread so he can see just how anxious you are.
Good luck x

hellhasnofurylikeahungrywoman · 03/08/2015 08:42

Kit, until you get help for your health anxiety your life is going to remain one big round of catatrophising symptoms and going for tests and scans. It is no way for you, or your children, to live your lives. Please, use that money you are thinking of using for scans to get some help and claim back your life.

ShipwreckedAndComatose · 03/08/2015 08:46

There isn't a single voice here that is going to say anything different to you. Everyone is in agreement and you know how rare on Mn that is!

worldsgonemade · 03/08/2015 08:53

My mum recently died of pancreatic cancer, she went downhill rapidly. Symptoms started end of November gp diagnosed chest infection after antibiotics and steroids did nothing and do loosing over a stone in very short time blood tests were ordered her liver function was off the scale, she was immediately admitted to hospital ct scan and biopsy taken diagnosed with pancreatic cancer mid December and she died January 18th. It was 5 weeks to the day, her symptoms/condition was awful. I'm no doctor but after my recent experience with this illness I would say if liver function was normal it's not cancer of any sort, that's the first test they do and yours has come back normal. I hope you can claim down stress will make ibs worse.

pinkfrocks · 03/08/2015 08:53

OP I may be wrong but you sound familiar. I notice this is your first thread under your username. Have you posted before on these types of issues? Because people with a health anxiety pop up every few weeks or months (usually under new names) with new symptoms and show the same response to posts.

I posted some helpful information about for Fodmap diet, a specialist dietitian who works with that (by Skype as well) and a list of IBS symptoms that match what you have.

You've chosen to overlook all of that.

What else do you expect us to do here?

I feel sorry for you as you are mentally ill. But I also feel annoyed because people are giving their time and yes, you are being silly, because you simply are not listening. Take a few deep breaths and read all the posts from people who have had experience of people with PC. They will tell you that what you is not PC- it's anxiety.

PunkrockerGirl · 03/08/2015 08:54

Thanks kitkat Flowers

I really do feel for you. Anxiety is a truly awful thing. I hope and pray you get the help and treatment you need.

tobee · 03/08/2015 11:09

Anxiety is a bully. It takes over your waking hours. It disturbs your sleep. In this case it's made you decide you have pancreatic cancer because it is the worst case scenario. It's testing you as to how you can cope. Like all bullies, it's enjoying seeing you cowering in the corner, taking over your life in it's hideous power, with it's jack booted foot pressing down on your head. The only way you can begin to live a normal life is to stand up to it. If you keep letting it push you around it will have won, because you will feel life isn't worth living anyway. I've definitely been there, and feel for how you are currently feeling. But it can change. I'd say it's urgent that you get help.

Neednewflowers · 03/08/2015 11:49

Listen to the consultant. He has experience in PC. You have none.

He has told you that you don't have PC. If he had an inkling you had it he would not be saying that you don't have the disease.

LeChien · 03/08/2015 11:55

Worldsgonemade, exactly the same thing happened to a lovely lady in my village. I'm sorry you've gone through this Thanks

OP, please get help for your anxiety, you can and will feel better than this.

pinkfrocks · 03/08/2015 14:01

OP if you are still reading...pop out and grab a copy of today's TImes. In the T2 supplement part there is a question and answer page and today's question is from a reader with health anxiety. Prof Tanya Byron discusses and offers suggestions for treatment. I can't link as the Times is subscription only but it could be the best 31.20 you've spent if it makes you go and get the help you need :)

pinkfrocks · 03/08/2015 14:02

£1.20- not 31!

kitcat2000 · 03/08/2015 14:42

thank you all for sharing your thoughts , feeling so guilty and awful as many of you have gone through this im so sorry you have had to go through this Sad , i have a GP appoitment tonight so i will talk my anxiety through and see if i can get help ..
i am feeling dreadful about just about everything

OP posts:
Northernlurker · 03/08/2015 20:08

Hope the appointment has been useful. You don't need to feel awful about this. It's not your fault that other people do have to face cancer, it's not your fault you have health anxiety. However it is your responsibility to do what you can to maximise your health and by speaking to your GP about these feelings you will be doing that.

yousuf1 · 04/08/2015 02:09

I agree with other posts that it is health anxiety. Unfortunately all the tests in the world won't convince u that u don't have PC, however once u realise on ur own that u don't have PC I believe u will move onto something else. I'm sorry to be blunt but you need mental help this is not good for your children they need a mother who is positive to be around.

kitcat2000 · 06/08/2015 07:37

OP posts:
pinkfrocks · 06/08/2015 07:50

so you didn't talk to your GP about health anxiety- or they didn't latch on that you have this?

Please stop asking the same things.

Your symptoms are ALL to do with IBS. You have seen a consultant. They have told you that.

People here are giving you help but you are not listening.

I posted a link to someone ( and a diet) who could help you with your IBS.
You've presumably not followed through?

I also mentioned that there was an article in the Times this week about health anxiety and the psychologist gave links to many organisations / forums which can help people like you. But I really think it's a waste of time posting these because you aren't yet willing to accept you have a mental health issue.

Can you see that?

Your scan will be a waste of time and money because even when it shows you are healthy, you will not believe it and keep on looking for 'answers' when the answer is to to get help for your mind. The answer is CBT.

Please go back to your GP and start behaving responsibly instead of avoiding the issue.

pinkfrocks · 06/08/2015 08:02

And if you want to spend money, ask to see a private CBT practitioner if they NHS has a waiting list.

Cancel your scan.

Can't you see what you are like?

I am sorry to be blunt but you are like an alcoholic or an addict who doesn't admit to a problem.

insanityscatching · 06/08/2015 08:10

Dfil died from pancreatic cancer. He went to the GP because he was really tired all the time. She ordered routine blood screen and was at his house within 24 hours as his bloods were so abnormal. Your blood would show that there was something serious wrong. You need to see GP and ask for support for your anxiety.

kitcat2000 · 06/08/2015 08:10

we did discuss my anxiety she wants me to take medication , i tried that and had awful side effects so i stopped , so im terrified of taking something els ,

i didnt manage to get out and get the artical you mentioned , nor have i looked uo yet the diet .
iv been utterly absorbed in my fears of PC at the moment to be honest nothing els is entering my mind ...
but thank you i will try to look at it at some point ..

i wasnt always like this i was care free once apon a time , have you never experienced anxiety or depression or any other mental health issue , its truly terrifying and i wouldnt with it on anyone ever ...Sad

i prey all you have said is right and i am ok .....right now i cant see the woods fot the trees and its all so very scary ..

OP posts:
insanityscatching · 06/08/2015 08:14

You can ask for alternative medication but sometimes side effects only happen for the first couple of weeks and so it's worth trying to persevere as most likely side effects aren't longterm.

pinkfrocks · 06/08/2015 08:36

here is the article

Pancriatic C any support or advice
pinkfrocks · 06/08/2015 08:38

This was the Question- couldn't upload the whole article at once.

The Answer part gives the name of a book you can read and also helpline and organisations but you need to go back to your GP.
