Hello, I need help please.
I'm 32 no children not sexually active. For a year I have been having watery discharge that soaks my pants. They smell like a cross between fish and a horse's stable! Tests have come back negative for bacterial diagnosis, thrush and STDs. And there is apparently nothing to see up there according to gp who also didn't think smell particularly strong.
I am on the pill to help w acne. I have put on a lot of weight this year-18months by eating junk if that might be relevant. It does make me sweat more Inc groin but the discharge is defo coming from inside.
Haven't changed soap powder and I don't wash inside vagina or use soap.
Thanks for any suggestions!!

Thanks guys - I bought the BalanceActiv pessaries and used them for a week, twice. And the smell cleared up then came back. I wonder if that shows it IS BV and it's recurring because of something I'm doing.
Maybe a shitload more pessaries, antibiotics and clear knickers needed!
I'm airing my vag today - going knickerless under my dress, will see if that helps! Am indoors so unlikely to knock anyone out with the dead-horse aroma.

Love the idea of my vag smelling like aromatherapy oils tho!

It may come back - its quite common for it to do so after your period for example. It says that you can use balance activ to maintain/ prevent here and there if needed?

tobysmum77 · 04/07/2015 10:24

you don't have a coil do you?

LeftMyRidingCropInTheMortuary · 04/07/2015 10:29

No I don't have a coil.
Yes, I think I might just have to use those pessaries regularly to "freshen up".
Meantime, I'll get on with cleaning up my diet and some of the other suggestions upthread too!
I'll have the most fragrant fanjo ever!

Yeah I only asked cos that's what caused mine. It took ages to settle it back down and it kept coming back after my period, eventually it settled for me and I didn't need to use anything any more.

Having a diagnosis from the gp would have been pointless for me anyway, as everytime I have them I get thrush.... treat that and I imagine the other will come back Angry

The gp I saw was definitely more helpful. It might be an idea.

LeftMyRidingCropInTheMortuary · 04/07/2015 10:42

Yeah, it's a bit like my pcos diagnosis. It makes no bloody difference cos there's nothing much they can do!

There is this new range called sass, do a product that is supposed to correct your pH levels, I've no idea if it's as natural as it sounds but it stops my itching (my fanjo actually is a delicate flower and gets really irritated after smear tests - maybe poking yours with more stuff might irritate it more??)

LeftMyRidingCropInTheMortuary · 09/07/2015 14:20

Update: asked GP about it again today. She confirmed BV often doesn't show up on the tests. She gave me a longer dose of metronidazole (3 per day for 7 days as opposed to just 5 tabs). told me to use the pessaries in combination.

Here's hoping I get a fragrant fanjo soon!

Gaaah! 7 days of antibiotics and pessaries later and the smell is still there!
Have bought the Holland & Barrett probiotic acidophilus tablet things (blueberry flavour, mmm!) i read about on a similar thread to mine. Have shoved 2 down my throat and 2 up the fanjo. Worth a go.
Will report back with findings in an effort to help others!

Reporting back as promised: following the probiotics (down throat and up fanjo) for 2 days, still got a bit of a watery discharge but it's maybe less than before. No smell. Which is the main thing!

Will do the probiotics for 7 days and then stop for a day or so to see what happens then. In a spirit of scientific discovery.

How are all of your fanjos doing?
