Hello, I need help please.
I'm 32 no children not sexually active. For a year I have been having watery discharge that soaks my pants. They smell like a cross between fish and a horse's stable! Tests have come back negative for bacterial diagnosis, thrush and STDs. And there is apparently nothing to see up there according to gp who also didn't think smell particularly strong.
I am on the pill to help w acne. I have put on a lot of weight this year-18months by eating junk if that might be relevant. It does make me sweat more Inc groin but the discharge is defo coming from inside.
Haven't changed soap powder and I don't wash inside vagina or use soap.
Thanks for any suggestions!!

Hi folks. OP - hope you don't mind but we think you will probably get lots of helpful responses on the health board and this isn't really an AIBU, after all. We're going to move it over in a moment.

cleanmyhouse · 03/07/2015 21:30

Um...you really can use tea tree oil near your bits, i wouldn't apply it directly but a few drops on a panty liner really is fine. Some people dilute it with oils and put it on tampons for thrush. So, yeah, its not like cyanide.

MsColouring · 03/07/2015 21:32

.....um embarrassing but I had similar once and found I had a tampon 'lost' up there. Though if you've had it for a year I would presume this has been checked.

Doobigetta · 03/07/2015 21:34

Tea tree oil is fine on your bits and will help soothe and clear thrush (although I don't think that is OP's problem) but it has to be a VERY weak solution. One drop to 100ml cooled boiled water, and no more.

TattyDevine · 03/07/2015 21:40

Arghrr I don't blame you for posting in here if you've got nowhere with a GP.

Hope you get it sorted, its these health niggles that aren't serious enough to get the attention of a GP bar the general screens but that is a chronic problem which means something to you that keeps you awake at night.

All the best.

FryOneFatManic · 03/07/2015 21:40

I only had a bad smell once, and found a tampon up there that had been there for a couple of weeks.... It was a funny shade of green

Even though this was about 25-odd years ago, I still double-check towards the end of my period that I've removed everything. It helps that I use a mooncup now. I haven't forgotten that Grin

cleanmyhouse · 03/07/2015 21:41

Tea tree oil is also anti bacterial, not just for thrush.

Man, i feel like i've gone on a bit of a tea tree oil crusade. I didn't mean to.

LeftMyRidingCropInTheMortuary · 03/07/2015 21:46

Thanks CleanMyHouse - ive got a vision of u as a kim\aggie person putting teatree oil on anything and everything! I don't have any at the mo - do u think eucalyptus oil wld work? My fanjo will tingle and smell gorjus.

Sounds like bv

LeftMyRidingCropInTheMortuary · 03/07/2015 21:57

gp / test ruled that out..

LeftMyRidingCropInTheMortuary · 03/07/2015 21:59

I should also say that it's a bit itchy sometimes.

Doobigetta · 03/07/2015 22:23

OP, no, eucalyptus wouldn't be a good plan- it can be a skin irritant. Lavender would work- again, very very diluted.

pinkfrocks · 03/07/2015 22:24

could be trichomoniasis- have you been tested /swabbed for STIs?

pinkfrocks · 03/07/2015 22:26

here you are www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Trichomonas_vaginalis/Pages/Symptoms.aspx

watery, smelly, fishy, doesn't go away- see your GP!!!!

pinkfrocks · 03/07/2015 22:27

Or go to a GU/ STI clinic- far better equipped to check you out.

babymouse · 03/07/2015 22:32

I'm going to second pp who have said go to a gum/sexual health clinic. They have so much more experience with these things than GPs. Good luck!

3littlefrogs · 03/07/2015 22:33

Has your GP tested your urine and blood for glucose?
You should be screened for diabetes. Sugar in your urine can be a sign of diabetes and can encourage yeast infections in the vagina.

aliasjoey · 03/07/2015 22:35

Do you know for SURE it is a vaginal discharge?

Only I had damp knickers and a horrid smell for months before eventually realising it was actually urine. Turns out to be mild incontinence but I wasn't aware of any leakage, so assumed it was fan of Blush

LeftMyRidingCropInTheMortuary · 03/07/2015 22:43

Thanks...I actually took the antibiotic they suggest for trichomonas as it's the same one they give for bacterial vag. Gp gave it before the test came back just in case. Defo from vag tho...I can stick finger in and it comes out wet + smelly sorry!
So not trich either! Also I hadn't had sex for six months when this started.

pinkfrocks · 03/07/2015 22:51

go to a GUM clinic

You might need repeat treatment of anything you have had.

cleanmyhouse · 04/07/2015 06:23

No! Not eucalyptus! Ouch!

tobysmum77 · 04/07/2015 10:11

OP I had the exact same thing happen, the gp said the test for bv won't necessarily pick up borderline cases.

Balance Activ is the answer, it is a bv treatment but it's just about balancing what's there.

tobysmum77 · 04/07/2015 10:13

you can just buy it in Sainsburys or on amazon if like me you don't fancy that Grin
