Urge to pee still not resolved

Ladies just posting to see if any other ladies with this (there's been a few lately on here) have made any progress. I feel all the time like I need to pee. Been to gynae & urologist and rules out things like ovary problems, overactive bladder, uti etc. No one seems to have any idea what to do next? I have good and bad days but I think that's mainly down to how well I can try to
Ignore it rather than genuine improvement. I have vulval eczema but both gynae & urologist don't seem to think there's a link. Anyway just wondering if any other recent posters or anyone else could shed some light or am
I destined to feel like this forever Sad

Just thought id post an update. Saw gynae yesterday and feel more despondent than ever. I'm sure she thinks I'm exaggerating this. Anyway she's prescribed Estrogen cream but at my suggestion and she didn't look convinced it would do anything for me. I'm not so sure either. I feel like this will never get resolved and it's really dragging me down. She offered to prescribe something for overactive bladder but having paid £170 for a urologist two weeks ago who told me I don't have overactive bladder I said no thabks. Will give the cream a try but I think I need to get back on some sort of nerve pain tablet- tried amitriptyline for 5 weeks & saw no benefit but I'm going to do a separate post to see what sort of nerve pain options there are with fewer side effects than I had- felt like a drunk on it. Onwards & upwards and if anyone can please please shed any light id be so grateful. Thanks mumsnetters xSad

@Royalair use the cream everyday. I do. If I use it a couple of times a week my symptoms come back. Also rub plenty around your vulva too. This is why I prefer it to the Vagifem pessaries. Do not be despondent my gut feeling is this may well be the answer. I would say give a good 3 months but do use it EVERYDAY. PM if you would like to chat. The cream may STING stick with it. If it does sting it means you are lacking oestrogen. I use every morning so I am ready for any action at night!

fairbalance · 29/05/2015 14:44

Once you get over the first 3/4 weeks of stinging I find the cream very soothing. I love it no more symptoms but I definitely need it everyday on an ongoing basis. It is very low dose oestrogen so I am not worried at all.

PPS My best friend is former family planning doctor who was responsible for the whole of family planning service up North. She is on top of gynae issues HRT etc I discussed with it she felt it was lack of oestrogen in my case. Fortunately my GP is a colleague of us both so he happily prescribed knowing I had discussed the intimate details with her. So yes in case my case it was an expert diagnosis and it was correct.

Thanks fairbalance, had lots of tears today which isn't like me but I feel quite alone with this as drs seem very try this, maybe that, let's see etc and don't seem to realise that at almost 4 months of this it's hard to have faith. I really appreciate your time to post the messages. I'm
Just praying now it helps. Flowers

Thanks confusedinbath, I sort of thought at 41 I was a bit young for Perimenopause symptoms and gynae seems to think I'd have other signs before urinary ones but who knows. I've read about the d-mannose and am considering it after this. So thanks for reminding me. Hope you continue to feel good x

@royalair urinary symptoms were some of my first symptoms but do, do stick with it (even if it stings like crazy) put it liberally on your vulva too as well as internally. You must DO IT EVERYDAY (do NOT drop to a couple of times a week) for a good 3 months. If it works you will need full HRT as an early menopause runs the risk of cardiac disease and osteoporosis. PM me any time. Do let me know how you get on. I am fairly certain you will see an improvement. It sounds so much like my story.

royalair · 29/05/2015 19:39

Thanks so much fairbalance. I will try to update the thread as maybe it will help someone else in the future. I've honestly lost some of my sanity over this. I'm almost afraid to start the cream in case it doesn't work & then I really don't know what I'd do. Anyway I've picked up the prescription and will give it a go. Thanks again x

I now I am repeating myself but it will sting, may be a lot, it means its working. Please, please stick with it in my experience that is good sign Smile

royalair · 29/05/2015 20:34

Thanks, maybe stinging will be better than feeling like I need to pee all the time Hmm

Sorry fairbalance to be a pest but I thought Gynae said apply twice a day but sticker on cream says apply once at night? do you know what you started on?

OP posts:
fairbalance · 30/05/2015 14:06

Yes try twice a day at first for a couple of weeks and then go to once a day, I do mine in the morning as it fits in with my naughty plans better Smile Any time is fine to suit you. Do NOT go to two, three times a week. My symptoms come back ASAP if I do that. Put loads on your vulva too. Remember if it stings like crazy stick with it. The stinging wears after about 4 weeks. I love it. It is fantastic at keeping my symptoms a bay but it may take a few weeks to work properly so again stick with it for a least 3 months.

fairbalance · 30/05/2015 14:08

Ps The stinging means you are lacking oestrogen so are on the right cream. It is a good sign so stick with it. It does stop once your oestrogen levels down below have built up.

royalair · 02/06/2015 15:13

Fairbalance, just wondering if you knew how long estrogen cream would take to work if it was going to. I think I started it last Friday night but don't notice any difference. it doesn't really sting that much using it either and I remember you said it would sting if I was low in estrogen. I'm presuming it's not going to work in that case. thanks

fairbalance · 02/06/2015 18:33

Keep going it early days I would say at least a month before I was free of some symptoms and three months before I got rid of them all. If it stinging a bit that is good but plenty around your ureter. Squeeze it on your fingers and rub loads in. It stings externally rather than internally.

fairbalance · 02/06/2015 18:34

It takes a good free weeks at least to build up your oestrogen levels in your tissues.

royalair · 02/06/2015 20:10

Thank you. Just feel I never be fixed Sad

OP posts:
fairbalance · 02/06/2015 22:12

This is not an instant fix. It is very low dose oestrogen cream. It will take a while to build in your tissues. It does so over time. Do rub plenty in externally too. So do not be disheartened and give the full 3 months before giving up. Usually an improvement after around a month but for some women it can take LONGER.

It would be sad if you gave up before the 3 months and then found later down the line this was the problem all a longer and you had not given it long enough to really work.

fairbalance · 02/06/2015 22:13

Ps It very safe and is only absorbed very locally in the urinary and vaginal tracts so do not worry.

heather1 · 02/06/2015 22:19

Could it be thrush? Both my sister and I have had bad Utis. Mine lasted for ages. It was really awful. In the end I was given an oral thrush treatment and the urge to go regularly went away.
My sister ended up in A&e. Apparently doctors are not that good at spotting it because the thrush symptoms are atypical.
I was given oral diflucan. Sometimes it takes a couple of doses to clear the thrush away. The die off symptoms can make you feel quite fluey. But afterwards I felt much better and no need to wee all the time.

Noregretsatall · 02/06/2015 22:31

Hi, I'm another one who had exact same symptoms are you op. Went to docs, she did an internal, said my vagina was very dry, prescribed oestrogen cream which I used every day for two weeks then twice a week (at night). Symptoms disappeared! So relieved! I came off the cream about three months ago, thankfully symptoms not returned.

Noregretsatall · 02/06/2015 22:33

I'm menopausal btw!

Impala77 · 02/06/2015 22:45

I've had exact same problems since I had my daughter 2.5 years ago. Nobody seems to know what it is, I've had loads of tests and pills for overactive bladder but it's no better. Initially I was told it was because I had bladder and bowel prolapse, I had that repaired a year ago but nothings changed.
I also can't have sex as it makes me feel desperate to pee. I'm 38 and feel like my life is over.

royalair · 03/06/2015 08:19

Gosh ladies this is terrible (thanks by the way fairbalance- you should consider becoming a Dr!Smile
It seems like I've read lots of people with this and often it's never solved or goes away after years. Not sure I can stick it much longer!
I've never had thrush but it's about the only treatment I haven't tried so I might. I don't think Ive much to lose. It's so frustrating & leaves me feeling very low like it's in my head but I know I wouldn't do this to myself.

OP posts:
royalair · 03/06/2015 08:21

Impala have you been checked for any skin problems down there? Like eczema etc. Even if you don't have it elsewhere. I have that & gynae thinks maybe a link but she's not certain. Might be worth exploring that.
