I'm being tested for cancer

I have been told I'm not going through an early menopause but the GP sent me for a blood test to check for ovarian cancer and the letter has already gone to hospital for a scan to check for cervical cancer. I'm very calm. Wondering if I'm being denial, stupid, or best way as I've no idea what is going on yet. I'd like to talk to people about their emotional feelings rather than physical if anyone would like too.

Had a phone call from the hospital this afternoon saying the pathology report said all clear. I feel strangely empty when I feel I should be delighted, but maybe it's the Tramadol coupled with ongoing family stresses.

Any news on a date yet Just?

Hi, just saw this thread. I've been referred for u/s & ca125 test as result of mid-cycle bleeding, pain & bloating plus family history of breast & ovarian cancers (was prev awaiting referral for brca gene tests). Have an appointment for Friday. Hoping to find out it's just ovulation bleeding & a bit of wind.
Just, I called ultrasound every day to check for appointment cancellations - could be worth a try if you are still waiting?

Great news, Tril. I felt flat when I was told my blood tests were normal too. I think it must be because you use so much energy stressing that when it was for nothing it is a bit of an anti climax.

Still no date. I haven't had a letter yet so wouldn't even know where to ring.

I've just phoned to see about my appointment. I feel such an idiot. She said I am being tested for one type of cancer, not two and I am having my abdomen and pelvis scanned. Does that mean ovarian cancer?

Sorry I don't have an answer to your question, but I should imagine if you are confused, that they wouldn't mind at all if you called back and asked for clarification. They must realise that the people they are dealing with are stressed. Sometimes it can be really hard to take all the information on board that they throw at you.

Thanks for making me feel normal, by the way. It seemed really weird to not have some kind of intense positive feeling from what should be such good news. Flowers

I spoke to a receptionist so I'm not sure how much she knows.

Hope you're feeling better today.

I'm all over the shop today and don't know why.

You are very welcome to join but you might get more responses if you start your own thread as people who have hidden this thread, or answered and moved on, won't see it.

Hopefully the time will pass quickly for you. Keep busy.

I have my pelvic mri in a couple of hours. Not really sure what to expect so not nervous. More nervous about the results but they could be anytime up to a month away.

Fromparistoberlin73 · 06/06/2015 17:32

Good luck Nikki Flowers

Still thinking of you just. Gradually feeling better, though it still feels as if everything i eat is getting stuck? Lost a few kilos though in preparation for my holidays!
