We were almost at our 1000 post limit for Thread 51 - hope the title is OK but wanted people to know that we aren't just about people on Tamoxifen but for all with cancer concerns!

Aw river thank you and Flowers for you whilst you're waiting. Would London suit you for a meet up, and the date that boobz said?

Shadow lovely hair Smile

I don't normally post at this time of the morning but dh has been poorly with a chesty cough and cold. He woke me with a massive coughing fit so I got him his cough mixture and some water. Now he's snoozing peacefully and I'm wide awake!

malteserzz · 06/06/2015 09:22

Morning all

Thanks nanny not an easy decision at all but looking forward to not having all of the work to do at evenings and weekends fingers crossed for your results x

Midnight I'm sorry for your loss agree that a chat with your GP could be the best first step to getting some answers

Shadow great hair the cold cap has worked really well for you, I didn't have the same success but still think it was worth going as I'm sure it helped mine grow back quicker

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend, quiet one here as did is still in the middle of GCSEs. She had that maths one the other day that was all over the Internet she said the questions were a bit random but that it wasn't too bad !

Sienna17 · 07/06/2015 10:53

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all your kind thoughts. Surgery over with thank goodness.

Went in early Thursday morning and had the guide wire inserted. It wasn't pleasant but not as bad as I was imagining, I almost squeezed the radiographer's hand off! Then I went up to the ward where I had to wait until 4.30 to have my operation! One of the longest days of my life! Then I thought they weren't going to let me out as my blood pressure was low. Luckily it started to go up and I was back at my mum's by about 9pm. Stayed at my mum's a couple of nights and came home yesterday.

My boob is very bruised and my nipple is all glued up but it doesn't actually look too bad considering. It's not painful, just a bit sore. I still feel a little bit out of it, feel very lethargic although I couldn't actually sleep at all last night. Came home to a letter from tax credits saying they want to investigate my working hours - just what I need, so that is playing on my mind I guess, life just seems a bit rubbish at the moment! Have to go back to see consultant a week on Monday to see where we go from here.

Marshy · 07/06/2015 11:03

That's a big step done sienna. Don't overdo it now and try to rest up where you can. Did you have to have lymph nodes sampled?

DidgeDoolittle · 07/06/2015 18:49

I posted on here a couple of weeks ago. I had painful boobs and had been referred to the breast care surgeon. I was freaking out as I was treated for breast cancer ten years ago. I was convinced it had come back.
So, to update you. I went to the clinic on Wednesday, had an ultrasound scan and I'm completely fine. The relief is huge. I can't tell you how stressed I have been.
Thank you all for your support when I was at my most stressed.

shadowfax07 · 07/06/2015 18:51

Lovely news, Didge Wine

midnightvelvet01 · 07/06/2015 19:04

Thanks everyone for your advice Smile

malteserzz · 08/06/2015 08:27

Good news Didge :)

Sienna I'm glad your op is done and that it went ok, make sure you rest and take it easy for a bit. I found the GA took a while to get over apart from anything else

Boobz · 08/06/2015 09:29

Hey Shadow - did you have weekly tax? Curious to know for hair purposes!

Pleased for you Marsh on your results.

Glad you are doing ok Sienna - take it easy.

And happy for everyone else who has had good news recently.

About to fly back to London for EC#3 tomorrow and am having dinner with my oncologist/surgeon couple combo... would like to go armed with ideas for surgery so I can ask him the right questions - anyone know of a good website which talks about all the different surgery options (including reconstruction?) I have been so focused on the diagnosis/pathology/chemo side of things, I haven't really thought about the surgery yet (will be having a double mx with recon post October).

Thanks

shadowfax07 · 08/06/2015 11:09

Boobz, I had EC and Tax every three weeks, not weekly. Six cold cap sessions were tough but doable, I'm honestly not sure if I could have coped with more. I did have horrendous side effects from Tax though, hopefully the weekly side effects will be kinder to you.

Sienna, hope you managed to get some sleep, and that you're still reasonably comfortable.

Boobz · 08/06/2015 14:05

I have 16 cold cap sessions. Deep joy!

Rivercam · 08/06/2015 22:19

Sienna - well done on your op. Take it easy and don't overdo it.

Marshy - can't commit to any dates at the moment until I know what is happening. I was really looking forward to this summer as I changed my hours a year ago, meaning I work longer over three days, rather than shorter every day. Therefore, I thought I would have more time with the kids this year, and as looking forward to having days out with them. Now I can't plan anything, and worrying myself about the everyday practicalities post hysterectomy ( even though I don't know if I need one yet!).

Dodge -great news. Hope you celebrated with a huge piece of gooey chocolate cake.

Shadow - lovely photo.

Marshy · 09/06/2015 14:30

River, don't fret about dates. Do you know when you're getting your hysteroscopy results?

Boobz · 09/06/2015 18:04

Back in London for EC#3. My onc asked me if I was wearing my own hair today - that made me smile!

Chemo tomorrow. Out with the onc+breast surgeon duo couple tonight - am really not sure I am prepared enough with questions but am an hour early and already on the wine so am sure I will think of lots when they turn up!

A few ladies on my TNBC and YBCN facebook groups died over the weekend. Very sad.

Rivercam · 09/06/2015 18:50

I was told three weeks ( two weeks to go), and then four-to-six weeks for next appointment. A nurse friend that if I need an op, it could be as quick as ten days afterwards. Aargh! What happened to NHS waiting lists?!

Boob - sorry to hear about your bereavements.

hotchocforme · 09/06/2015 21:41

Boobz, how did the dinner go? You are lucky to have friends such as those. :)
All the best for the chemo.
Yes I am still doing well. Is it a crazy fitness thing that you're on?

I saw that you mentioned clinical trials earlier. Are you thinking of doing one? I actually came on here to ask if anyone had done one. I have trawled through cancer research uk's website and found one that is in my town. I do need to speak to my onc about it though.

Well done for getting through the surgery Sienna. Take it easy. X

hotchocforme · 09/06/2015 21:43

Oh, and I met with a local support group in a pub last week. They are all nice and I enjoyed it.

Hope that you are all ok.

royalmama · 10/06/2015 13:38

Hello ladies,i was referred to this group after having posted elsewhere. I found a lump in my breast two days ago and since then it seems i am living a nightmare. I was at hospital most of yesterday, i had a mammogram and ultrasound and am now being scheduled fir a core biopsy because the lump did jot look good.i don't have to tell you lovely ladies how torturous it has been since then.I still haven't read through the posts, but will be doing to see. What I can learn from your experiences. In the meantime, I wouldn't mind any quick feedback, advice, pointers ,etc at this stage. Thanks and stay strong.

Sienna17 · 10/06/2015 14:20

Hi royal, I have been where you are very recently and all I can do is sympathise, do you know yet when your biopsy will be? Bear in mind they don't give you the biopsy results straight away, they usually call you back a week or so later, so that is yet more waiting. My only advice is to just keep going, there's no point in saying try not think about it because of course you will! Everyone on here is lovely and supportive so keep posting if it helps.

royalmama · 10/06/2015 16:08

Thanks Sienna17. I still don't know when the core biopsy is to happen and yes I was told it would be a week till the resukts came out! Sigh. I try to keep busy and to be practical, but as you said, the thoughts are consuming and I feel myself tired already. Did you tell your family and friends as soon as you found out or did you keeo it to yourself? I have only shared my anxieties with my sister and a very close friend. I do not want to be felt sorry for or bombarded with questions:( i need all the strength I can to gpface whatever is around the corner.

Sienna17 · 10/06/2015 16:30

Hi again royal, I'm a single mum with 3 kids and being in this situation has made me feel very alone and very conscious of not having a partner to share things with. I did however tell quite a few of my friends and think it helped to do so. A couple of people at work have had bc and were really happy to talk to me if it helped. Also when it was bad news it made it easier to tell people as they already knew I was having tests, if you see what I mean. I hope you get the date for your biopsy soon.

malteserzz · 10/06/2015 16:57

Royal I'm sorry you gave come to join us, the waiting for results and a treatment plan is the worst bit. I was lucky in a way as had a one stop shop so had mammogram and biopsy on the same day and they said that it was cancer there and then. Once you know what you're dealing with and you know your treatment plan things will seem a little easier. I told everyone straight away but everyone is different just do what seems right
