My health has deteriorated over the past few weeks, what could be going on!

For the past couple of weeks my health has been slowly getting worse. I am fairly healthy usually but recently I've been having headaches, poor memory, poor concentration, dizziness, confusion, blurred vision, heart palpitations and poor balance. It's been very strange!

I went into a supermarket a few days ago and I was squinting the entire way around because my eyes were sensitive to the lights then at one point the room started spinning a little and I grabbed hold of the trolley because I thought DS was rolling away!

I also was walking up the stairs to bed and I was struggling to catch my breath and I went very warm and dizzy.

I've been to the doctors who's going to be giving me a blood test for things such as a vitamin D deficiency and diabetes but I can't remember what else! Confused

I've had an eye test today to see if that's what was causing it and my vision is perfect. The plot thickens!

I'm curious to see if any of this sounds familiar to anyone? I'm a little worried and wondering if anyone has any idea what these symptoms may suggest.

Hyper thyroid? Not medical at all so just a wild guess based on the heart palpitations/ feeling tired but speeded-up at the same time.

Going to try answer any questions!
Thank you for all the responses.

I don't have heavy periods and those who have suggested an overactive thyroid, I have an under active thyroid! I take levothyroxine for it and seems to under control

I'm not an outdoorsy kind but I did get a bite on my arm when in a hotel at the weekend but I think the symptoms may have started before then

I have these symptoms too for the last year. I have some kind of vestibular migraine as a result of labyrinthitis / bbpv.

RockinD · 20/02/2015 17:51

These are all potentially symptoms of an under-treated thyroid. How well controlled is yours, really?

ProfessorPickles · 20/02/2015 18:07

I will request for my thyroid checking again cause maybe my dosage is too low?

My parents are convinced it is pure exhaustion because that can cause visual problems and vertigo

What dose do you take of thyroxine?

Karmaone · 20/02/2015 18:19

I felt exactly the same when I had lost ferritin. I was much worse in the morning.

ProfessorPickles · 20/02/2015 19:33

I take 50mg on a morning on an empty stomach

No danger of you taking too much with that dosage - unless your own thyroid has miraculously started working normally again and you are now over treating?

Threeboysandus · 20/02/2015 22:13

Do you suffer with anxiety? I do and when I was very bad in the last, I had all of these symptoms.

Karoleann · 21/02/2015 00:24

High blood sugar in uncontrolled diabetes usually causes refractive changes that are longer lasting - so days/hours rather than minutes.

Do your symptoms get any better when you have a hot bath?

ProfessorPickles · 21/02/2015 15:53

I do have a bit of trouble with anxiety yes, I can feel adrenaline being released a lot over small actions it's weird.

My symptoms have been none stop for approximately a week now, they don't get better if I have a bath etc but do get worse if something stresses me out but that may just because I'm tired out by it all too

It maybe that. Before I suffered with anxiety, I would never believe the amount of physical symptoms I get.

Beachcomber · 27/02/2015 17:35

Definitely get your b12 checked, I had similar issues to you and that's what it turned out to be. Ask to see your results, lots of doctors are happy with levels around 200 but lots of people need to be much higher to feel good (at least 500). I had a high resting heart rate, palpitations, coordination issues, fatigue, anxiety, lightheadedness, felt faint, poor memory, confusion, etc. I thought I had a heart problem. Has your MCV been checked? Mine was high and I had b12 deficiency anemia, hence the faintness and exhaustion. Good luck.

Beachcomber · 27/02/2015 17:38

Forgot to say, b12 can affect your vision.
