Woke up yesterday morning slurring - should I be worried?

My tongue looks 'off centre', which I presume means it's swollen on one side? My arm on the side it's swollen was killing me as well. I'm also having trouble typing this, even though I'm usually pretty quick normally at touch typing, I keep getting the letters wrong.

I have ongoing problems with my arm which I thought was either because of RSI from working on the computer coupled with holding hands with 5 YO DD because as we walk to school and she'd been maybe pulling on it as she dancing/skipped along.

Yesterday I thought I'd maybe laid on my front when I was in bed and it had trapped a nerve in my neck/shoulder or something, but would this affect my tongue?

I've Googled what it could be and can't find anything, tongue not numb and doesn't hurt, I can eat OK, I can get the words out OK just sound slurred.

I'd be really grateful if anyone's got any ideas about what it could be? Otherwise it'll have to wait until Monday till I can get to the doctors and I'll just keep my fingers crossed that I don't have to talk to anyone before then because I really sound as though I've had at least two bottles of wine!

I've been checking back frequently too.

Lizzylou · 15/02/2015 20:48

I hope Agent has been checked over and is ok.
It was DH ringing me one morning last year and slurring like he'd had 10 pints that alerted me to his stroke, he was working 200miles away and it was awful. He had prompt treatment and is making good progress now.

Turquoiseblue · 15/02/2015 20:50

Agent - hope you re ok and get the best outcome possible.

Pooka · 15/02/2015 20:51

A friend's dh woke one day with a headache and slurred speech. He left it for days, until friend realised he was struggling to say his ds's name - like he couldn't get the name out. She rang 111, they rang 999 and he was a stroke specialist centre in 20mins. He's fine now, medicated. Fit and healthy 40yr old.

Hope you're alright agentzz

I very much hope you've gotten to A&E and it's turned out to be nothing, Agent. They are scary symptoms Flowers

ragged · 15/02/2015 21:43

What treatment could A+E do for OP 29 hours after a stroke?

I only know about the 4.5 hour window.

PopularNamesInclude · 15/02/2015 21:48

be well agentz!

BuzzardBird · 15/02/2015 21:57

Only just seen this. Hope you're ok Agent

Adarajames · 15/02/2015 23:43

Ragged they can still help, and one of most important gongs is tht larger strokes very often follow smaller ones, so best to be seen by medical bods to have best chance of avoiding that; also sooner that treatment and therapy begins, the better the outcome, so ALWAYSworth getting checked out, even if you think may have been left too late to warrant it

Ohfourfoxache · 15/02/2015 23:48

Bloody hell Agent, hope you're ok Thanks

WeatherWatchingWitch · 15/02/2015 23:55

Bloody hell Zigzag I hope you're ok!

BoreOfWhabylon · 15/02/2015 23:55

Also Ragged, it may not be a stroke, several other neurological problems (some rather serious) can cause the symptoms described.

VivaLeBeaver · 15/02/2015 23:58

Ragged, if it is a stroke there could still be a clot. So they could be treated with medication and then scanning to see if clot dissolves.

WineCowboy · 16/02/2015 00:03
