Woke up yesterday morning slurring - should I be worried?

My tongue looks 'off centre', which I presume means it's swollen on one side? My arm on the side it's swollen was killing me as well. I'm also having trouble typing this, even though I'm usually pretty quick normally at touch typing, I keep getting the letters wrong.

I have ongoing problems with my arm which I thought was either because of RSI from working on the computer coupled with holding hands with 5 YO DD because as we walk to school and she'd been maybe pulling on it as she dancing/skipped along.

Yesterday I thought I'd maybe laid on my front when I was in bed and it had trapped a nerve in my neck/shoulder or something, but would this affect my tongue?

I've Googled what it could be and can't find anything, tongue not numb and doesn't hurt, I can eat OK, I can get the words out OK just sound slurred.

I'd be really grateful if anyone's got any ideas about what it could be? Otherwise it'll have to wait until Monday till I can get to the doctors and I'll just keep my fingers crossed that I don't have to talk to anyone before then because I really sound as though I've had at least two bottles of wine!

Please, please just go.

Eminybob · 14/02/2015 12:09

OP I really hope you are ok, but why in gods name did you ask what to do, then proceed to ignore the advice?

Please please call 999 and get to a hospital asap.

MsVanRein · 14/02/2015 12:15

Please please go to A&E - ring an ambulance you need to be seen urgently.

Tongue looking off centre sounds like a muscle weakness caused by nerve damage to me (I am a SALT - this is one thing we use as part of speech, lang and communication diagnosis). Really don't want to scare you but I agree with what others have said re stroke symptoms.

Finola1step · 14/02/2015 12:20

Agent you are one of my fave posters. You are always straight and fair with others. You need to listen. Go to A&E. I don't care how you get there, who you need to tell.

You need medical attention. You need it now.

BoreOfWhabylon · 14/02/2015 12:21

Hopefully paramedics will be with OP by now, if she called after she last posted.

Finola1step · 14/02/2015 12:22

LadyFlumpalot · 14/02/2015 12:40

Don't worry about the driving. Call 999 and the ambulance drivers will do that part for you.

Juno321 · 14/02/2015 13:20

Do not put off going to A&E it could be nothing, but it could be extremely serious. Go now. Hope you're ok

WipsGlitter · 14/02/2015 13:23

Yes pacific, me too.

FancyPuffin · 14/02/2015 18:05

Really hope you're getting sorted now Agent and all is well.

Small bossy bit to follow;

Anyone who experiences these sort of symtoms can and should call 999 for an immediate assessment. Stroke type symtoms are not always dramatic. More often than not all is well but ambulance crews would never complain about attending this sort of call.

Thinking of you Agent and got everything crossed Flowers
