Worrying about possible op

So it's 4am. I'm yet again lying awake. I'm a single parent and suffer with really bad loneliness and isolation so this is my low point anyway.

For those who haven't followed my threads ive been diagnosed with an ovarian cyst. Seeing gynae in a few weeks as I have what is called a 'bilocular' cyst. Doc says it's unlikely to go of its own accord. Herein lies my problem I'm absolutely PETRIFIED of having a GA. I've never had one maybe it's fear of the unknown? Ever since I was little ive had this fear.......... I don't know where it stems from? This fear is taking over my life I'm not functioning. My GP has put me on beta blockers. I know lol of you will say this is a mental health issue, I agree partly, but I DO have something to be scared of! I'm not 'imagining' things, ive been diagnosed with this awful bloody cyst, and I'm scared stiff. I really don't know how to cope? I'm so alone.

I wish I had someone, especially in these wary hours. I'm so lonely I look longingly at others who have support, either from partners and/or family.

HmmHmm

Oh I was exactly like you. Every twinge I ever had gave me palpitations thinking I'd need surgery for something. I got to 2014 without needing a GA and then had two in 6 months. They rock! The premed is like a huge G&T and you just go aaahhhhh. Then they're chattering away and next thing you're in a different room. There's no recollection of having being put to sleep or woken up. It like you become aware that you're somewhere else. Grin You will feel like you've had the best sleep of your life. My first op was a life or death emergency. I had a ruptured ectopic and had lost nearly a litre of blood. I woke up after it all snuggly and warm and the pain was gone. I've also given birth and would rather a hundred ops over one birth. The drugs are amazing!

Carbon rod if you were me and facing an op,having gone thru two, would you be worried?? X

I wouldn't be worried to the degree I was before having my first op. I was a quivering mess. There will always be some degree of concern as ops are a serious thing. Honestly I would be looking forward to the drugs! Grin

Shoegal0305 · 01/01/2015 21:15

That's how I'm feeling. A quivering wreck lol x

Right....... Deep breath...... Just saw doc....... Was lovely. He says cyst 'not scary' and is 'clear'? So no surgery as yet, watch and wait for 3 months and repeat scans and bloods then. I feel like I could pee with happiness and relief!!!!! Xxx

Shoegal so pleased your appointment went well. I'm currently having two cysts monitored but I've had to have surgery before. It's fine so don't worry.

Shoegal0305 · 02/01/2015 11:58

Very pleased for you shoegal :) So did they say it was definitely bilocular but still non scary? I have my follow up appt next Wednesday. Being referred for MRI etc.

nikki1978 · 02/01/2015 12:11

Oh and thanks for the PM. Husband is ok just not able to drive or work for a few weeks :(

Shoegal0305 · 02/01/2015 12:16

Hi Nikki glad hubby is ok. Yes doc said it was bilocular, 'clear filled' (which I presume not dermoid or blood filled?) and not scary. Another scan and bloods in 3 months xx
