I had a failed endoscopy in jan this year...the sedation didn't work...no idea why..it's worked before...I think I they gave me a different drug (something beginning with m and I didn't have a canula in either?)
I know I need the proceedure...my gerd and pain is still bad.
I had an appt at a bupa hosptial last night (Dh is covered with work so I am covered for some tests) but can't have the proceedure til next Friday!
Have told the dr I am very worried about the sedation not working again.
He said he will give me a mixture of drugs to sedate me.
But...it's a long time til next week and I am really really worried.
Come on...tell me I am being an idiot!

Badvoc, I'm glad you're ok.

I notice you said you had your gallbladder out - were you given meds for any side effects? The reason I'm asking is I had mine out in May and have been left with bad indigestion. I was given lansoperazole and it seemed to help at the start but in time I kept feeling nauseous all the time and I had constant stomach ache - I was convinced I had pancreatitis again.

I saw a different GP to my usual one and he referred me for an endoscopy and talked about increasing the lansoperazole. For some reason I re-read the leaflet with the lansoperazole and realised I had many of the side effects. I decided to stop taking it and gradually started feeling better. I spoke to my own GP who was happy I was off the pills (she'd never intended them to be permanent) and cancelled the referral for the endoscopy. I still get indigestion (and various other side effects of the op) but nothing Rennies can't deal with.

I hope you get answers soon Thanks

BTW, I'm not suggesting you stop taking any meds!

Gaviscon is good for reflux type indigestion because it forms a physical barrier that floats on top of stomach contents to help prevent the acid coming back up into your throat .
