I Found A Lump In My Breast

Found it on Friday.
Managed to get an appointment with my GP yesterday morning,he was really nice and tried to put my mind at rest.
I have just had an appointment through the post for Wed 12th Nov.It says I will be diagnosed on the day.
The weekend was so long waiting to phone my doctor and now I have to wait over a week for the next step.
I think the not knowing is the hardest bit so far.

Thinking of others going through this.

And of course good luck for your op x

cleanasawhistle · 20/01/2015 20:10

Thank you so much Malt.

Hope you are doing OK.

Is it true you should wear dark nail varnish for the chemo ?...not sure if I read that here or somewhere else.

Will the NHS send for me to have a wig fitting or do I get in touch with them ?

Hi cleanas, I just wanted to say I hope tomorrow is completely successful and they get it all this time. I feel for you having to go through this twice. Why not pop over to the tamoxigang thread afterwards, you will probably find its much busier over there and you'll get lots of support. Good luck.

cleanasawhistle · 22/01/2015 22:03

Thank you

I've been thinking of you and hoping your treatment was going well. I hope the operation goes well tomorrow. I think the breast cancer nurse will talk to you about wigs etc. There's a forum called Breast Cancer Care but I think the tamoxigang thread here is very supportive. Best wishes.

helzapoppin2 · 24/01/2015 00:18

Thinking of you today, cleanas, and best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Sorry you have to have chemo. Science will, hopefully, soon find an alternative. Until then it's our best bet! Anyway, you have a good rest now. Take it easy!

cleanasawhistle · 24/01/2015 13:28

Yesterdays op went well.
I am home now feeling ok but very tired.Going to bed soon.
They said the nipple has gone but haven't seen anything due to the large banage.
Hope everyone is keeping well and looking after themselves xxx

Thumbs up, cleanas!

savemefromrickets · 27/01/2015 04:02

Hi Cleanas, sorry you had to go through it twice. So did I, the first lumpectomy didn't get it all so I've just had a mastectomy and recon. I hope you are getting plenty of rest and healing well.

Lifeloveandlaundry · 27/01/2015 21:12

Hope you're recovering well cleanas. Thinking of you.

cleanasawhistle · 02/02/2015 17:26

I have been fine since my op on the 23rd Jan but by the 25th I had the flu.
It totally wiped me out.Fine now just feel like I have a cold.

I received a £90 wig voucher through the post and a list of 4 suppliers 50 miles away. The lady on the phone said to come before I start chemo because I may not feel up to the journey later.I had to make an appointment so I will go next Monday.Heres hoping I find something I feel comfortable in.

Hope everyone is doing ok x

Oh cleanas, I'm so sorry to read your updates. I send you all the best wishes that I can & pray that this time they manage to kick it out.
I had a mx, lost the nipple & so on. I had an LD flap reconstruction & it does look OK, all things considered.
I hope that the chemo gets completely rid of it.

cleanas, so sorry you've had flu, as well as having to recover from the op.
My wig recommendation is definitely go for a synthetic one as they are so easy to "wash and wear", and relatively natural looking. I bought mine online, not too expensive. I also had a couple of stretchy hair bands which helped it grip, just from the equivalent of Boots. (Remember I was in the Land of the Free at the time!)
The best wig to wear was one that was close to my usual style and colour, right down to the dodgy highlights!
Hats and earrings were very useful, as stuff that distracts from the wig.
I also had my friend cut my hair short just before it went of its own accord!
I hope I'm not being TMI. Just be assured there's loads of us who've been there. It's worth it in the end, just b*dy hard in the meantime!
Let us know how it all goes for you.xxx

savemefromrickets · 02/02/2015 21:29

So sorry to hear you got flu on top of everything else. If I were you, I'd be having a strong chat with my body about it actually being on my side. Mine seemed to forget that little fact too but I'm hoping that seeing both breasts disappear as a result of bad behaviour will remind the rest to behave itself!

malteserzz · 02/02/2015 21:29

Wigs can be really natural looking these days, people who didn't know just thought Id had my hair cut ! I hope you find one you are happy with Smile

Littleham · 05/02/2015 20:29

Hello. Found this thread - really hope you don't mind me posting.

I have just had an urgent referral to the breast clinic (lumpy and painful breast near to one side / intermittent shooting pains). No appointment as yet. My Mum and cousin both had breast cancer. My Mum pulled through. I'm below the age for normal mammograms.

Is it likely to be bad news? Doctor did say it could just be a cyst. All I can think about is that it is really rubbish timing as I have one child doing A levels and one doing GCSE's. Sad

alexw · 05/02/2015 20:33

Me too, today. Luckily have got appointment in the morning for mammo and ultra sound etc. totally rubbish though. Dds 10 and 4 - have to be positive.

Littleham · 06/02/2015 09:23

Hope your appointment goes well & that it is good news alexw. Keeping my fingers crossed.

mrsrhodgilbert · 06/02/2015 11:45

Littleham and alexw, I hope that both of you have your appts and are sent on your way with nothing to worry about. That's the most likely outcome and keep that in mind. However, if you do find yourselves in need of further help and support there is a very long running thread in general health called the tamoxifengang. It is a very busy thread with many of us on it, all at various stages from waiting for a diagnosis to those who are going through treatment and those who post many years on to give us all a boost. You might just find its a bit busier than here with more women who are actually going through this and are very happy to share experiences and offer support.

mrsrhodgilbert · 06/02/2015 16:23

Sorry, that should have said tamoxigang.

Littleham · 06/02/2015 20:58

Thanks mrshodgilbert. That is very kind of you. I have my appointment now, not next week, but the week after.

alexw · 06/02/2015 21:41

Thanks all. Had appt this morning. Mammo, ultrasound and exam. Got results too (thanks to Bupa) - all ok. Phew! Littleham - hope all goes well for you appt.Smile

cleanasawhistle · 06/02/2015 23:02

LITTLEHAM so sorry to hear that you have quite a wait for your appointment. The waiting I found was the worst bit,you will be worried sick and imagining the worse.
I so hope it is good news for you .
All I can say is if it is bad news then the breast care team are amazing and nothing is quite as bad as you would imagine it to be.I have had two operations within 5 weeks of each other and came through both feeling fine.I have amazed myself with being able to cope with whatever has been sent my way.
And MRSHODGILBERT is right the most likely outcome is you will be fine but if not I can recommend the Tamoxigang thread too.You will find everthing you want to know there.
Please update us and fingers crossed for you.

ALEXW so pleased to hear your good news, what a relief for you.
