green jelly nappy - very worried

dd 12 months had a normal dirty nappy this am on waking, then a bit later had a nasty greeny jelly slime type stuff in nappy - had nothing to eat or drink between waking and this happening.

then bottle at 8am, shreddies, sandwich, yoghurt and fruit for lunch, bottle moid afternoon and then another green nappy late afternoon.

I put her onto cows milk as a drink 11 days ago - could this be the cause? She also tried yorkshire pud yesterday and had the teeniest bit of double cream on fruit crumble - both new foods. She seems well, no temp and quite happy - big appetite as usual, no sickness.

I go back to work tomorrow and she starts nursery - advice please !!!!!!

gingernutlover · 29/08/2006 16:42

know this sounds selfish but really need to go into work tomorrow and am worried if this happens at nursery they will send her home.

obviously if she was ill I would stay home - not complete bitch

take her to the gp
to get her checked over
sounds like a tummy bug but am no expert

gingernutlover · 29/08/2006 16:44

If you are worried, get yourself off to A&E, don't hesitate. Or ring NHSDirect. x

gingernutlover · 29/08/2006 16:45

would she have a temp with a tummy bug?

OP posts:
gingernutlover · 29/08/2006 16:45

could it be something really sinister then?

was going to wait and watch this evening

OP posts:
VeniVidiVickiQV · 29/08/2006 16:46

Its snotty botty. If she has no other symptoms, is weeing and eating, no temp, no rash etc etc please dont waste A & E's time with it.

desperateSCOUSEwife · 29/08/2006 16:47

sometimes there can be no temp

if she has green mucusy bowels, signs of tummy bug most likely

which gp would give out diarohlyte and no food for a few hours until clear motions

gingernutlover · 29/08/2006 16:48

i will not rush up a and e - will watch her tonight I think

desperateSCOUSEwife · 29/08/2006 16:49

phone nhs direct at least

VeniVidiVickiQV · 29/08/2006 16:49

She'll be fine I'm sure. It often happens if they have had a runny nose and swallowed lots of mucuous in their sleep.

gingernutlover · 29/08/2006 16:50

think will carry on with normal food and drink but keep things as plain as poss unless it gets worse or more frequent.

It has been 2 lots of "slime" over 9 hours - and quite small amounts so not convinced it is a tummy upset unless it gets worse to be honest - just a bit shocked at the sight of the nappies :-)

VeniVidiVickiQV · 29/08/2006 16:51

Why? You are just scaring GNL. There is no bright blood, no dark blood, no temp, still weeing, no rash, still eating.

gingernutlover · 29/08/2006 16:51

just a thought - vvv it was after big nights sleep and big afternoon sleep - maybe mucous had collected

OP posts:
VeniVidiVickiQV · 29/08/2006 16:51

Yes, brings back memories of meconium

Now THAT is awful stuff....

gingernutlover · 29/08/2006 16:53

i do not find NHS direct helpful - they convinced me I had an ectopic pregnancy and misscarriage on 2 occasions, and also that dh had meningitis - on arrival at hospital dopctors were amazed at what I had been told with the symptoms I described

OP posts:
VeniVidiVickiQV · 29/08/2006 16:54

Quite likely. When up and about it normally exudes out of every facial orifice, when they are laying down it has nowhere to go except down.......

gingernutlover · 29/08/2006 16:54

however i am sure they were being overcautiuos and that they do help in toher cases - no harm done

OP posts:
gingernutlover · 29/08/2006 17:39

just wanted to say thankyou for the advice and reassurance - I don't 'alf panic!

noddyholder · 29/08/2006 17:44

There aer green jelly like crystals in some disposable nappies that can escape at times.Could it be those?Especially as she is well otherwise

VeniVidiVickiQV · 29/08/2006 17:46

No probs
