Bea, I have had trouble with ds and his eczema for about the last 10 months and have tried all kinds of creams etc. I have tried natural creams and all kinds from the doctor without any really controlling it until now. I have been going to the hospital for the last month and saw a different nurse and doctor last week who both agreed that enough was enough and they needed to do something for him, at last. I dont like steroid cream, but compared to his pain and itching I decided to give it another go. I have steriod cream (which they gave me a chart as how much to use on different parts of the body and how to measure it), 50/50 cream which is like vaseline and no extras as Im sure ds was reacting to some of the things in other creams, some antibiotics for the infection, bath sfuff and shampoo. I cannot believe the difference, within two days ds had clear skin and has not itched now since Friday, he is sleeping and is a different baby, happy and less clingy to me looking for a b/f for comfort. I dont want to use the steroid cream forever but the 50/50 seems to be moistrising enough to help.
I know this isnt probably the answer you were looking for as I havent even heard of the cream you mention but there is hope which ever route you take. Good luck.

Bea- It worked wonders for our son and we had it recommended from another Mum who swore by it.
She sends samples (so no need to buy if you are unsure).
What I have found useful with Elena- I have met her she lives 10 minutes from us (coincidence)is that she will talk to you about your son and you can ring her to discuss progress. She is all for finding the root cause of the eczema not just masking it.
She was a burns unit nurse in East Grinstead and developed her creams for burns patients, she then realised that they were very efficient against baby eczema. She claims 90% success.
She will also give you loads of tips on things to do to improve the eczema.

I am one of those mums who has recommended her stuff on other threads.

Pupuce · 11/03/2002 09:38

Bea- one more thing : I did write the following on a board:
I know that people who belong to the eczema society use her products with great success but the society cannot endorse products and hers are not "medically" tested...

Joe1 · 11/03/2002 09:41

Pupuce I remember you mentioning it to me before, can you give me the number again please. We have his under control now but I am always looking to take the sterioid away. I didnt know though that some natural creams contain a natural steroid which still be used in a controlled way, do you know if a natural steroid is contained in her creams?

Pupuce · 11/03/2002 09:45

I don't know Joe (I don't think so but I may be wrong) but she is friendly enough that you can call her and ask. I didn't find her pusgy (trying to sell her products).

Joe1 · 11/03/2002 09:47

Thanks pupuce Ill give her a call and have a chat.

Pupuce · 11/03/2002 09:58

Joe and Bea - if you speak to her or use her products, I would be very interested to hear how you found it.

Joe1 · 11/03/2002 10:56

No worries will let you know.

mollipops · 16/03/2002 13:01

Hi all

Dd has had eczema since she was a babe (she is now 5)...we have tried all sorts of things too. My latest discovery is chickweed gel! Made from chickweed (obviously!) with aloe vera and teatree (smells much better than some of the others we've tried!). Very soothing, stops her scratching and helps the dryness. Really good stuff - and natural too! Has anyone else tried it?

florenceuk · 18/03/2002 14:09

Pupuce

Just to let you know - I ordered Elena's products(the Trinity soap and the Triangle oil and creams) on Friday, got them on Saturday and while it is very early days, they look like they have made a real difference - DS had red and scaly cheeks, forehead and flaky scalp, and they now look much better, after a day and a half! DH was very sceptical at first, but agrees with me that there does seem to have been an effect. Initially DS actually looked a bit worse - a bit red and spotty. But today his skin looks very calm. Before this we were using Diprobase and Emulsifying ointment in the bath.

Not sure about going down the route of eliminating dairy yet in my diet to eliminate the source of the problem - it seems so hard! But thanks for the tip - cross fingers the early signs of progress continue.

Pupuce · 18/03/2002 15:18

Wow... I am glad FlorenceUK.
I found that within days I could see a very big difference - I don't know what it is with her creams but DH (who is also a skeptic person) was very impressed.
Please keep us posted. I think if it does work for several of us then we need to let others know... eczema is such a common problem.

Did she give you loads of advice as well (i.e. not just sold her creams)?

I did eliminate dairy in my diet for a few days and I did see a difference, I then re-introduced it very slowly and when DS got on to solids and formula (he was bf until 8 mo), I avoided cow's dairy - I have found that bit very easy to do.

Pupuce · 01/04/2002 22:14

Bea, Joe1 and FlorenceUK... just wondering how the creams are working for you ?
DD has just started a bit of eczema on her knee (nothing like what DS had) but I used the cream and in 3 days it's almost completely gone. I remain amazed so I'd like to know if you too are impressed.

Joe1 · 02/04/2002 11:09

Pupuce, have to say I didnt get any because the 50/50 cream I have got from the hospital is brilliant, keeps ds skin lovely. Only flare ups we have had is during his cold, but even then they werent anything to speak of. We have a check up today at the hospital, but dont expect to be going back for another appointment unless we have a major flare up.

florenceuk · 02/04/2002 21:48

Joe1, what is in the 50/50 cream? ES cream helped almost immediately (see my post below) but lately DS has developed a red scaly rash again on his cheek - maybe because we were getting a little less careful about applying the creams all the time, maybe because he has a cold (his first - ugh) and is constantly dribbling. I'll report back if it doesn't clear up soon.

Joe1 · 03/04/2002 09:20

50/50 cream is 50% liquid paraffin in soft white paraffin. Apparently it is something they have used for years and years and use if all else fails, I just wish they had thought of that first.

Quimble · 04/04/2002 19:31

My 16 month old son has had ezcema patches on his legs and ankles, and occasionally hands and face for about 10 months now. We've tried lots of different creams etc, but it always seems to come back. I would really like to try Elena Schalburg's stuff but having looked at the website I wondered which ones to go for? FlorenceUK would you say get the ones you got? Perhaps I should just email or phone her and ask as she sounds friendly from what everyone has said?

Pupuce · 04/04/2002 20:45

I would call her if I were you. I had the day and the night cream myself dor DS.
BTW DD's eczema (small in comparisson to DS) has now gone after 4 days of the day cream 1x a day.

florenceuk · 08/04/2002 14:15

Quimble, the ones I got were recommended over the phone and I think they are the basics of the range. DS is looking better, but not completely clear - he still has a few patches on his cheek and his head. So not 100% but quite good compared with Diprobase. Maybe I should try the Eureka cream?

honeybunny · 08/04/2002 19:04

I've just started using the Trinity shampoo/soap followed by the Eureka cream on ds's itchy patches. He also has these on his face and chin, with random small 1p size patches on odd parts of his body. His skin goes through periods of being excellent, then gets sudden flare ups. I thought due to dips in his immune system, but he's been clear of bugs for 2weeks now and suddenly his skin has got worse again. Wonder if he's picked up on imminent new arrival, baby brother arriving, probably on Monday!! Anyway, back to the point, after just 4days use (x2/day) they're almost gone again. Just ordered the day and night cream after chatting to staff over the phone, so that I can save the £££ eureka cream for really stubborn patches. I'd highly recommend it.

Quimble · 10/04/2002 22:47

thanks for the replies,I think I'll give her a call, that seems the best thing.

Thewiseone · 11/04/2002 12:15

I have also used her creams to amazing results. It's all very natural, I think her secret is also in the quality of what she puts in those jars. I know 2 other mums who use it and swear by it as well. They were the one who recommended it to me.

Puffin · 12/04/2002 10:50

I would like to try these for my daughter (16mths), can anyone give me the web address, as I can't find it.Thank you

Puffin · 12/04/2002 11:00

I have just found it on the other ezcema link, all the comments were really helpful. Someone did tell me once that Oilatum contains a peanut oil stuff that could irritate and possibly lead to nut allergy. Has anyone else heard that, if so has anyone got another water softener that they use?

melsam · 23/04/2002 21:01

Just started using Elena's creams I rnag her for advice - very helpful. Will feedback on progress..
