Constant Toilet Trips & bloating, anyone had same experience??

emma16 · 27/03/2014 18:14

I hate going to the doctors therefore it takes me a lot to pluck up my courage to go & i'm thinking i do really need to go as been having some problems for quite a while now.
I'm roughly 9st 5lb, 5ft8 & have been having problems with my bladder for some time where I constantly feel like i need the toilet, yet i can go & only pass a small amount.
I feel like there's pressure on my bladder & down below pretty much all the time, if i lay down in bed it can feel like something's sitting on my bladder & makes it feel worse.
My stomach is always bloating up but i don't have any excess weight around my stomach, at times i feel so bloated it looks like i'm pregnant :((
I did have a urine test a few months back & it showed a bit of abnormality & was given some tablets to 'cure' it, but they obviously didn't work & it feels like it's getting worse as time passes.
I feel tired all the time, or another great word in the dictionary 'weary', my back constantly hurts, i can never decide what to eat as most of the time i feel full but have ate very little & realise it's more because i feel so full & bloated inside that the idea of putting anything else in makes me feel like i'll pop!!
I probably do need to go to the doc's, i just wondered if anyone had experienced similar & something i could try before going.

Just go to the doctors!!

Could be a kidney infection.

Probably more like mad cows disease though Grin

Seriously, we don't bloody know do we?

justmuddlingalong · 27/03/2014 18:18

Do you have a coil fitted?

emma16 · 27/03/2014 18:21

Haha i wish i did so i didn't have to go! No i don't have a coil fitted justmuddlingalong.
I was hoping for some miraculous diagnosis via here tbh ;)

Go to the dr and ask for a gynae referral, these symptons, can be ovary linked.

Cocolepew · 27/03/2014 18:28

And make sure you take a sample in to be tested

emma16 · 27/03/2014 18:37

I have a sample bottle so i'll do that thanks :)
I have wondered whether it could be related to ovary's as such as my periods have changed over the past year, i get crippling pains in my womb & bowel once i have menstruated until basically my period finishes & my back generally feel's like it's going to snap. Sex can be very painful deep inside at times & i always have to go to the loo afterwards which isn't very romantic :(
I did go to the doctors about it last year but she just brushed me off saying it was normal period issue's, what did she want me to do about it? That really didn't help with my confidence & doctors!!!

Cocolepew · 27/03/2014 18:42

I dont to sound alarmist, but you should definitely go back and make sure you are seen by gynae. Do you have a well woman clinic near you?
DONT let your dr fob you off. Im sick of hearing everywhere to go to the dr as soon as, possible, then when you do go you get brushed off Hmm

tallulah · 27/03/2014 19:23

Can I second cocolepew and tell you to go to the GP. Explain exactly what you have said here, leaving nothing out, and ask for a referral. Don't be fobbed off waiting for blood tests, you need somebody who can identify what is causing this combination of symptoms.

Cocolepew · 27/03/2014 19:42

I've pm'ed you emma Smile.

emma16 · 27/03/2014 22:05

Thanks for your message Cocolepew & everyone else's kicks up my bum :) I will ring tomorrow & hopefully get booked in, feeling nervous already!! :(

OP posts:
Ledkr · 27/03/2014 22:11

Can I also add to the arse kicking and say go to drs and do not be fobbed off at all. You need a pelvic scan and bloods.
I am an ex nurse and massive bossy boots Grin good luck

Cocolepew · 27/03/2014 22:13

Steel your nerves emma Smile

When I was gong to the dr about gynae issues I went with a list of symptons, I forget everything the minute I walk in the door .

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 27/03/2014 22:18

That sounds rubbish. Def go back to the GP armed with a list of symptoms and a pot of wee.

emma16 · 27/03/2014 22:20

I was thinking of doing exactly that, writing my symptoms down because my nerves will overcome me & he'll ask me how I am & i'll just say im ok lol! Thanks for the advice :)

Good luck Emma. Writing a list of symptoms is a good idea. If you find it difficult to be assertive for yourself (I get that impression) just imagine if it were your best friend/mum or whatever with your symptoms, you'd want them to get the treatment they deserve.
It would be worth keeping a record of how often you go to the loo, with your comments (pain, discomfort, felt like bladder did/didn't empty completely, if it's any worse when you have period). This will be useful for that gynae referral you're going to get! Good luck.

somedizzywhore1804 · 27/03/2014 23:28

Another voice saying GO TO THE DOCTORS and write down what you want to say. I have loads of bladder trouble and you do feel like you're nagging when you keep going back- my GP is from the school of "have you had an STD test?" And "let's do some vague swabs" so you have my sympathy- but your health is worth nagging over.

basildonbond · 28/03/2014 04:57

Please go to the doctor now - don't want to be alarmist but those could be signs of something v serious so much better to get it checked right now

emma16 · 28/03/2014 08:06

I've made an appointment for 6.40pm tonight, was his only one available so now i have all day to worry! The Joys! I'm amazing at standing up for everyone else & asserting myself but when it comes to me im very much 'oh its ok ill be fine'...a woman/mum thing perhaps? But yes, the kicks up the backside have done me good & pushed me into actually doing something! Thank you :))

OP posts:
Ledkr · 28/03/2014 08:41

Don't worry! It's only if you ignore it that its a problem.
Have you written the symptoms down? Don't forget the pain when you have sex cos that sounds very ovary related.
Good luck

Cocolepew · 28/03/2014 08:49

good luck emma.

2old2beamum · 28/03/2014 10:08

Good luck and stick to your guns.....says me the biggest wuss out!
Are you my daughter like you can fight anyone elses corner but not my own.
Try not to worry too much.

Cocolepew · 29/03/2014 09:17

Hoping it went ok.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 29/03/2014 10:09

emma16,

How did you get on yesterday?.

re this earlier comment of yours:-

"I have wondered whether it could be related to ovary's as such as my periods have changed over the past year, i get crippling pains in my womb & bowel once i have menstruated until basically my period finishes & my back generally feel's like it's going to snap. Sex can be very painful deep inside at times & i always have to go to the loo afterwards which isn't very romantic"

I would see a gynae with those symptoms because all that can be indicative of endometriosis being present. Many GPs are simply not experienced enough to properly deal with these types of problems; you need specialist help.

If GP is unhelpful see another doc within the practice or change GP practice. This is not normal!.

emma16 · 29/03/2014 14:39

I did go & gave him my list of symptoms, he weighed me, examined my stomach, took bp etc, and has arranged for bloods to be done on tuesday morning for several things & has also sent off for a ultrasound scan to be done on my pelvic area.
Does this all sound reasonable for a first appointment?
He mentioned Polycystic (not sure how you spell that!) ovary syndrome which i have no experience of but i thought that was associated with difficulty falling pregnant? I fell pregnant with both of mine very easily but he said it can develop in women aged late 20's to 30's?
I'm a bit cynical of it as i had a look at the symptoms of this & i don't really match up with any of it, barring irregular periods & mine have been a few days early or late the past 5 months but i wouldn't class that as 'irregular' as such.
Obviously i'll have the bloods & scan done & if that doesn't show anything up then should i still ask for a Gynae referral?
Thank you for your help & advice everyone :)

OP posts:
Cocolepew · 29/03/2014 15:35

Thats sounds pretty reasonable to me, if the scan shows anything then you will get a referral stating what it showed. Just make sure if it doesn't show anything you get a referral for further tests, rather than 'oh theres nothing there do it isnt anything' type of attitude

I had polycystic ovaries, in my case it meant that my ovaries and tubes were full of chocolate cysts. I can't say I really had any major symptons of PCOS.

Good luck!
