The nurse tripped over mine Scarlett ouch!

ScarlettOHorror · 30/05/2014 20:38

Sorry I am posting so much today but I just figured out how to have a shower...as I'm sure many ladies have before me. I have one of those blue and white ikea steppy stools for kids to reach the sink so I put it in the bath and put a small towel on it and sat on it to have my shower and wash my hair. I had the narrow end facing the bath taps (shower is over the bath). I feel so much better for a shower and I rinsed my wound with clean water. Stomach still numb though. But no pain from showering that way.

marymoocow · 30/05/2014 21:57

Don't apologise for posting Scarlett, after all there's not a lot else we can do at the momentGrin .

marymoocow · 30/05/2014 21:58

Managed to go for another little (literally) walk today. Hoping I don't pay for it again tomorrow....

MrsBigD · 31/05/2014 06:11

Scarlett I was told no baths for 6 weeks. The numb tummy will be numb for a while. I still had an area along my C-section that never really got feeling back and ds is nearly 10. Bonus on the weight loss though! Grin. I'm not brave enough to step on my scales.

Buba great news :). I had pre-cancerous showing on my pap once but nothing 'deeper' in but better safe than sorry I'd say

mary well done. I know I'll be paying for my excursion/exertions today... managed to shave my legs (tmi and YEAH!), then drove dh to the doc for his blood test as he's a wooz (sp?) Hmm. After that we ambled through the shopping centre for about 2h (with breaks), had breakfast and some very slow food shopping with me having to stop due to dizzy spells. Then drove back and I headed straight back to bed LOL

Was a good test run though to see whether I'll be able to drive ds to school as of Tuesday and I think I should be ok, because walking him there isn't going to happen in a hurry! Blush

JennyOnTheBlocks · 31/05/2014 08:30

Morning everyone, how are you all sleeping?

I didn't get to have a nap yesterday and was so pleased I'd made it through I had a bottle of cider with my dinner.

BIG MISTAKE.

Spent most of the night sweating and stuck in that awful cycle of extreme heat then freezing cold. Note to self, no more alcohol until HRT has fully kicked in. I don't drink a lot, but liked to share a bottle of wine with a weekend meal, if I'm going to pay for it with no sleep, not worth it.

Having a shower is fantastic, Scarlett, well done!

MrsBigD, that's a mega day out, sounds exhausting to me right now, but so-o-o good. I've done a very short trip round the supermarket, but that's more mentally stressful than anything as DD hates it with a passion. DH had to push the trolley and carry her on his shoulders.

TMI ALERT
is anyone else having cramps and pain in the minutes before going to the toilet? I can feel every slight movement in my bowel so much I have to breathe through the pain as if it were labour. I've been taking buscopan, and this does help, and I'm not constipated at all, just experiencing this excruciating pain. I'm going to make a GP appt for next week, this doesn't feel right.

marymoocow · 31/05/2014 10:17

Hi Jenny. I had a couple of bowel movements like that earlier in the week with extreme diarrhoea (expelling excess medication I think). Since then it has gone better so to speak, but I can certainly feel it differently to normal.
Major moment in the Mary household today as I managed to make myself some toast and marmalade all by myselfGrin . I've also showered and dressed and about to do the grocery shoppingGrin Grin . Don't panic though, It's an asda click and collect, but even that is going to take some concentration...

JennyOnTheBlocks · 31/05/2014 10:56

In other news, I've just swept the kitchen floor

Now sitting with a cup of lemon and ginger tea, go me, huh Wink

marymoocow · 31/05/2014 12:06

cricket Jenny! I'm exhausted at just sitting here choosing food etc. Can't believe it has taken me an hour and half, my brain hurts now.....and I bet I've forgotten loads, or ordered the wrong things. Eating here this week could be very interesting Grin .

marymoocow · 31/05/2014 12:07

crickey not cricketBlush .

JennyOnTheBlocks · 31/05/2014 12:25

I tried to do online shop, didn't have the brain-power,total failure Confused

Easier and far less traumatic for to go and stock up on ready meals for us.
I'm really looking forwards to next week when DD is back at school, she hates free time and needs entertaining and supervision 90% of the time. Adult DS and his partner have been brilliant at popping up to make our lunch and sort the vacuuming and dog, and DD is staying at theirs again tonight to give DH a break.

Mary, how far did you walk? I've not walked outside further than about 50metres from car to shop yet

ScarlettOHorror · 31/05/2014 12:39

My jelly belly has deflated slightly and I can feel my stitches. Two codeine and one diconeflac (sp) make me float into lovely sleep but I feel I may never poo again. Despite movecal and prunes. Grim.

gingeme · 31/05/2014 12:58

Afternoon ladies.
Fortunately DH is pretty good at shopping and generally sticks to the list.
Got a letter today confirming my appt with my surgeon on 14th June. Once he has given me a date for the op DH can work out his leave from work. He has annual leave end of July so may have to mo e it along a couple of weeks. I'm taking the 6 weeks off for summer hols and hope to be back to somewhat normal to start again in Sept. Thats the joy of being self employed.

LackaDAISYcal · 31/05/2014 13:07

Jenny, I was having horrible crampiness before having a poo. doc said it's because the bowels are settling back into normality after being shoved around and out of the way during the op. It continued on and off for a few weeks iirc (amazing how quickly you forget!)

Please though ladies, donl;t overdo things as it will set you back. Like sweeping the floor! I did all this and paid the price with pain and exhaustion and discharge.

I can honestly say that 8 weeks post op I am only now beginning to feel normal, but I know my connective tissue disorder and the new medication I've started taking (mild dose of a chemotherapy drug) haven't helped. I'm hoping to be back at work in a couple of weeks now.

In other news, off to see 1 Direction in Manchester this evening. I'm more excited than my DD Grin especially as I thought it would be too soon post op to drive all that way. thank goodness they brought my op forward by a couple of weeks!

marymoocow · 31/05/2014 13:26

ginge DH is also very good at shopping, it was my rather pathetic attempt to help out and be useful.
DC are also back to school next week, they are older though so have not needed too much entertaining. Will be glad to be able to sit and watch what I like, rather than minecraft Grin .
Jenny it wasn't far about 200m at the most. Took me 5 minutes thoughGrin . Am going to wander again today, it was lovely just to be out in the fresh air for a few minutes

JennyOnTheBlocks · 31/05/2014 13:43

Thanks for that about the poo-cramp Daisy, and to clarify the sweeping was more walking about with the brush in front of me honest Grin

I've hardly lost anything in the way of discharge, probs because I've spent most of my time sitting or laying. My arse is definitely chair-shaped :( tomorrow I'm going out with DH and DD on a dog walk. There's a bench about 200m from our house, I'll sit there and read while they carry on, and collect me on the way home.

marymoocow · 31/05/2014 14:47

Think I may just have overdone it. DS's gf is coming round and the house is obviously looking 'lived' in. DH was running around trying to clean, DS1 attempting to Hoover, DS2 tidying, DD pretending to do homework (hiding). Felt really guilty so tidied up a few letters and made a pot of tea. Think I underestimated how heavy the tea pot is. Now have nagging, twingy, throbbing sensation in my groinSad . Still the house is fairly presentable, DH is cutting the grass and I've given up for the day.
Liking the idea of walking the dog by sitting on a bench JennyGrin . Don't get tempted to go further, you have to get back too

gingeme · 31/05/2014 21:51

Evening all. Sorry to keep on but when I have my appt is it my pre op appt ? Will he explain the op and what will be happening etc.

JennyOnTheBlocks · 31/05/2014 22:22

Hi ginge

When I met my consultant, he talked through my proposed procedure along with my symptoms and then told me he didn't agree with the other doctor and that I was not a good candidate for keyhole surgery after all.

He passed my case onto the other gynaecologist whose list was shorter than his, and asked me to call admissions in 2 days time to chase up my surgery date. I did that, and 20days later had my operation!

I'd had my pre-op assessment the week before - totally mixed up, but it seems the consultant was pushing me through asap.

So, in answer to your question - no idea, but is there a secretary you can call?

gingeme · 31/05/2014 22:45

I have seen the gynecologist six times now for various tablets, injections, implants, pills and my hysteroscopy. She told me everything looked ok and my appt with my surgeon will come through soon. That will be 14th June. Guess I'm just getting impatient now and want a date (hmm)

ScarlettOHorror · 31/05/2014 23:09

Hi all

V sore today and really hurts to get out of bed to the loo. But not unbearable. Still no poo. Keep marvelling at my 6lb weight loss.

Gingeme it's such a pain waiting when you want it sorted.

The biggest of my cats doesn't understand why he can't lie on me and treadmill my stomach and keeps miaowing sadly.

How is everyone?

JennyOnTheBlocks · 01/06/2014 06:35

Morning all

Still in bed, but feeling pretty good by comparison to recent mornings. Hot flushes were still there, but not as intrusive, hell, I might even let DH sleep next to me again soon ;)
That's been a sad bonus really - I miss him, but not his snoring, and having the bed to myself means I can prop myself in all angles with loads of pillows.

Sorry you're in so much pain, Scarlett, it does subside, honest. In my earliest days I had the most awful burning sensation either side of my wound. It's either settled or I've got used to it, but I don't notice it so much now.

marymoocow · 01/06/2014 09:29

Scarlett silly question but are you taking your pain relief at regular times? I was given a timetable by the hospital of what time to take which. It was only when I tried to cut back on them a bit that I had any really uncomfortable pain.

marymoocow · 01/06/2014 09:31

Jenny I've had no choice but to put up with Dh snoring, although for the first few days I think I may have been as bad since I could only lay on my backGrin

ScarlettOHorror · 01/06/2014 10:23

Yes I'm taking my pain relief - I have one diclonefac three times a day and two codeine four times a day. Missing my morphine pump :)
