What other medical disciplines could deal with Mouth Ulcers?

I'm seeing Oral Health; earlier than expected as my routine appointment has been brought forward by the dentist after he saw my ulcers today (from July to the end of the month). I have about 9 at the moment & there are problems under my tongue.

But when I saw them last time they said they could do nothing as it was a virus or the menopause or stress or I was run down.

So if they still can't help, I was thinking of trying maybe:
Autoimmune (is that even a dept?)
Gastro (is that bowels?)
Allergy (maybe as antihistamines are helping)

I'm not really sure what other things to consider as we don't really do a "look at the whole of your body" doctor like in 'House'

Katy I remember you from the 'Ulcerative Colitis' thread last year - sorry you're still not well. I had terrible mouth ulcers with the Crohns & they still flare up from time to time. Have you seen the Gastro doctor recently? Are they still saying you've got IBS? How is your B12 level? Sorry for all the questions Smile I have to have injections now as I don't absorb B12 because of where the Crohns is & I sometimes get mouth ulcers & cold sores when my injection is due. Hope you get to the bottom of it soon x

Yeah; IBS, CFS & FM oh & I'm depressed too

I think anyone would be with that lot

Not a diagnosis between them just an absence of anything else

Have you tried lysine and b12 supplements? Life changing here.

KatyMac · 08/04/2014 20:25

Pernicious Anaemia is a possible diagnosis now - so B!2 supplements are a possibility

I'm so sorry to hear that you're in such pain KatyMac. I also had this a couple of weeks ago, and I am, touch wood, gone through the worst of it now, and slowly building up my strength as well. I went ahead and detox'ed myself by not eating so much junk, and I just have a basic gruel diet. Just mushy rice with water boiled in a soup. It got me through that detox phase.

To get rid of the ulcers, I had to use Corsodyl which did help. It took a few days to numb the ulcers though. I was more careful with what I drink, and eat during this period of time. I also started to use Theramed toothpaste as well as a backup. On the diet side. I eliminated all juice drink. I just drank water. I did not eat very much, but I let my stomach go through a detox. I just boiled some stock as a base, and got nutrients this way, without chewing anything, and this got me through the worst part. I think my body went into its own detox phase, and it did flush out the bloatiness I felt. For some reason I had so much gas.

I am now building back up my diet now and try to stay clean. I started to find methods to detox my liver. I am trying hard now to follow the TCM method. Which is to eat food which is good for the liver and flush out the toxin that it is stuck there for a long time. I've started to drink lime diluted juice, or lemon juice. Sometimes apple juice. This is a first thing early in the morning to flush through my system before I have salad type food.

I also have a clogged system too. I have eliminated all carb/sugar/caffeine/bread/pasta which could have been the cause of bloatiness. I had decided to also eliminate pork too. (This was what caused me to have a buggy stomach to begin with.) I try to eat less now and let my body flush through what I eat. I tend to not eat as much if I can remember it. I do not know if my advice will help you but hang in there. You will get through it.

Hmm

Detoxing is a bit bollocks tbh. And it won't help pernicious anaemia.
