Over here for the hand holding.
One in five women in the uk will have to have a hysterectomy at some point in their lives.
Come and join us if you are waiting, pre op, bleery eyed on the ward or recovering afterwards.

Sorry gingeme I didn't mean to dishearten you Sad but wanted to share that I didn't go straight from referral to booking surgery.
I was different to you in that I didn't know what I wanted other than relief and have also had prolapse issues which have been corrected by the same consultant.
You do sound like you have had enough Sad

gingeme · 30/01/2014 18:54

Its ok twinkle lol. I'm just pleased to say it didnt affect my fertility as endimitriosis so often can. I have 5 handsome boys Grin . But it's got ro the point now where I'm bleeding every day some days very heavy ans some days it doesn't touch the pad !! I have a constant headache which wakes me sometimes Sad through the night and my energy is pretty low even with a fairly good diet and vitamin supplements recommended by my gynea. Enough is enough now.

fullasagun · 30/01/2014 22:16

Doing very well here, I've dropped the painkillers and have got back on the treadmill (only walking obviously but its a start).

I haven't done any housework at all - dh has taken a lot of time off work so I'm making rhe most of it.

I've no idea about waiting times as I was only given 2 weeks notice about my op due to it being for cancer. .. still getting my head round it tbh..

flouncymcflouncerson · 31/01/2014 00:35

Popping in to see how you all are.

I'm feeling quite down, I fear I may be getting depressed if I'm honest. I'm struggling with everything, occ health and work and then the mess my bits are in. Consultant has said he will not operate prior to six months from my initial repair surgery which means late may at the earliest. It's going to mean I need to return to work in the interim which is going to worsen my prolapses which will result in a more complex repair. I'm not even 30! My initial repair seems to have failed and my bladder is dropping again as well as my womb and it's all such a mess. Add that to the fact I've been told hysterectomy is the only optional just feeling very low.

fitflopqueen · 31/01/2014 08:26

Flouncy, you need to go and talk to Occ health, they should be recommending to your manager that you need to be in a sedentary temporary role whilst you wait for your next surgery. Whilst this would be a pain for your manager to arrange, surely better for you to be in work albeit not in your substantive role rather than remain off sick.
This would be better for your mental health too and give you some degree of normality.
Have OH written to your consultant, if not suggest that to them

Ledkr · 31/01/2014 09:53

flouncy poor you! it must be horrific for you a prolapse is my worst fear.
I lost my boobs at 28 so I know how you feel, it's so unfair, you just want to enjoy being young and you have to cope with older women's issues.
I had good counselling at the mars den which helped and I have to say I've never felt less of a women even now after my egg cups have gone too.
You shouldn't be doing anything which makes your problems worse though, can you get signed off until your surgery or do a more sedentary role?

Kevinsbowel · 31/01/2014 13:25

Poor you flouncy. It's young to have a hysterectomy. Is your family complete?

Gingeme, I was offeed two weeks from consultation to surgery but had to delay it two more weeks as I couldnt get myself freed up fast enough at work. So it does depend.

gingeme · 31/01/2014 17:03

Oh dear flouncy. Dont really know what to say. Thanks Is there no way they can move it forward due to the prolapse etc ? You cant live like this !!

gingeme · 31/01/2014 17:09

Kevinsbowl Shock 2 weeks !!

mummylin2495 · 31/01/2014 17:20

gingeme I think I remember you from scuttle !

gingeme · 31/01/2014 17:23

gingeme · 02/02/2014 09:43

Good morning. How is everyone ? Smile

Ledkr · 02/02/2014 09:58

I've been feeling good but woke with horrible belly ache and some bleeding but I think it's just par for the course.
In laws coming today but for once are making a day trip rather than moving in indefinitely so I may be gracious.

Twinkletights · 02/02/2014 10:28

Morning Smile
Good luck with the in laws Ledkr, did your GP sign you off for a bit longer and give you some hrt? The bleeding must be very frustrating.

I am trying get organised today, DH goes away tonight so I will be managing the DC and school runs by myself next week. He has said that he will come straight home if I can't manage and is really worried bless him.

I am feeling a bit grotty and having trouble with my bladder, seeing the GP on tues so hopefully get some advice then.
I was very proud that I managed to wear a dress and tights for going out to lunch on friday , small triumph but it made me happy.

Gingeme, wow 5 boys you must be super woman. I also had 4 weeks between my appointment and surgery with the choice of 2 hospitals the same as Fitflopqueen.

Ledkr · 02/02/2014 11:11

Hi twinkle, I was pretty much alone from week one but had plenty of help and dd was going through a sweet phase thank god.

I got the dds appointment wrong and arrived an hour early Blush I couldn't stay cos had to pick up dd from ballet so have another appointment on TUesday.

I can't imagine he won't give me a note after the way he's let me down.

I'm going to spend two more weeks getting fit ready for work, swimming and walking a bit, I've lost a bit of weight so I'm feeling pretty good too.

Pil are ok but have an annoying habit over overstaying which annoys me but with my lack of hormones I'm hoping not so much.

gingeme · 02/02/2014 15:14

Some positive things written here. Glad to read them. I've been spring cleaning in readiness of when I can't clean lol. DH is good with the vacuum but that's about it. Went to my chiropractor yesterday. She wants me to see her after my op so she can give me some core muscle stuff to do Smile

fullasagun · 02/02/2014 20:41

Gingeme your dh may surprise you. Before my op I'd have sworn down my dh couldn't cook and clean (as would he) - he is now loving having a chance and made a fantastic roast dinner today :)

gingeme · 02/02/2014 22:26

Ah fullasagun that is one thing DH can do is cook. Hes a better cook than me. I certainly won't starve Grin

shewhowines · 03/02/2014 10:28

Hi guys,

twinkle and fit glad everything went well. Thanks

led make a nuisance of yourself. Hope you get something to help you in the meantime.

full did you get the biopsy results from your lymph nodes? Have you got the all clear?

flouncy Thanks sounds as if you are going through a hard time.

ginge keep preparing. Again, the wait is the worst.

Some months down the line, it all seems like a bad dream and a distant memory. You just have to get through the shit stuff first Smile

shewhowines · 03/02/2014 10:30

that should have been a Sad

Ledkr · 03/02/2014 12:42

I am such a nicer person since my ovaries went.
It's remarkable, no temper, dh and I having a second honeymoon, I was even nice to my pil yesterday.

Wtf?

gingeme · 03/02/2014 18:34

Oh Ledkr thats what I'm hoping for. I was talking to my chiropractors Secretary and she said her friend had the op and is a totally changed woman in a good way Smile Yes have to admit I cant wait to get it over and done with now. I'm not planning anything more than 2 weeks ahead at the moment. Roll on the 12th when hopefully I'll have a date to tell my Mums !!

Ledkr · 03/02/2014 19:13

Well I'm scared to get too excited but I just had such bad pmt before which lasted most of the month.
I thought the menopause made you depressed!
It's been over 4 weeks since my op though so surely all my oestrogen has left the building, so far too I just get a couple of hot periods overnight but Im Happy, losing weight and my libido has returned too.
It's very weird, I'm not sure I want my hrt now.

gingeme · 03/02/2014 19:18

gingeme · 03/02/2014 19:18
