I've seen loads of threads like this over the years and never seen one reported/deleted when it's a regular poster like OP.
Mothers of sons discuss erections regularly.
Probably get undescended testicles checked out although I can't remember when they're supposed to be descended by.

SteamWisher · 04/12/2013 21:11

You could have put this elsewhere not in AIBU?!

If you're worried, ask the GP.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 04/12/2013 21:11

I liked the preciseness of the "reported" post. To MNHQ. Not the Prime Minister. Not the FBI. Not the Stiffie Police. MNHQ. Grin

FWIW I don't think DS was getting them at that age either. He made up for it eventually though.

ilovecolinfirth · 04/12/2013 21:11

Oh my god! Baby erections is NOTHING to do with a child pleasuring himself! Get a grip and learn some facts.

My eldest had them from a young age, my youngest doesnt. I wouldn't worry at the moment.

coffeeinbed · 04/12/2013 21:12

Well, if the HV does not know go to the GP.
Don't get upset, it's perfectly normal question.

2Tinsellytocare · 04/12/2013 21:12

I think it's the question mark over the testes that is making me extra paranoid, that's more common in prem babies (which he wasn't) so I'm thinking that I may have done something wrong whilst PG and broken him!

OP posts:
ilovecolinfirth · 04/12/2013 21:13

Wouldn't undescended testes be picked up at birth?

2tinselly- is he under a paediatrician for undescended testes? They would know...

whereisthewitch · 04/12/2013 21:14

Maybe ask to get this moved to the parenting board OP? Don't be upset. ..Some people tend to be a bit paranoid about these topics!

2Tinsellytocare · 04/12/2013 21:14

They have descended out of the abdomen but only as far as the groin not into the scrotum itself

OP posts:
coffeeinbed · 04/12/2013 21:14

No you haven't.
have a Wine get some sleep and ring up GP for an appointment tomorrow.

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 04/12/2013 21:14

Argh. I didn't suggest there was a link!

Do you really need a more detailed explanation of why someone would report the thread though?

Allow me... peadophile comes online. Googles 'baby erection', finds your description of your child. Yuck.

meditrina · 04/12/2013 21:15

OP: if you're feeling upset, report your thread and get it moved to just about anywhere other an AIBU.

I suspect the doc didn't know because the frequency of erections in infants cannot be reliably observed, let alone the studied in populations with specific conditions. but just thinking about the anatomy of it here is no obvious reason why the hydraulics would be related to whether testes have descended.

galwaygirl · 04/12/2013 21:15

With my almost 6 month old it is a sign he is about to pee which is handy - have you seen your little guy peeing? Is there no change?
I'm glad there are threads like these - as someone above said how would we know what to expect otherwise.

VworpVworp · 04/12/2013 21:15

they usually correct undescended testes by around 18mo- have they mentioned anything to you about this?

Hemlet · 04/12/2013 21:16

Erm, Ok mis, I'm sorry I misread the op. No need to get up my arse about it.

It's normal for baby boys to have them or not to have them. All babies are different and unless you notice it's sore looking or at a funny angle I wouldn't be concerned.

You may get the traffic here, but sadly there are a lot who goad on purpose.

bonzo77 · 04/12/2013 21:16

DS2 has not had one to my knowledge (might have done whilst his nappy is on though). He's nearly 1. His testes are descended but he did have a very impressive hydrocele which resolved by about 8 months. DS1 had th more frequently, and they were pretty common between ages 2-3, especially when he went into pants (I suspect for access reasons).

Please don't be upset. There's a huge variation in what is considered normal. I'd get on to your gp, find out about the testes, and if in any doubt get a referral to a paediatric urologist.

Twunk · 04/12/2013 21:16

I never noticed DS1 have one and also worried - but he has now cheerfully pointed out when it happens Hmm (he's now 5). DS2 had them a lot. So they're defo all different.

But make an appointment with your GP if you're worried about husband testicles.

HanneHolm · 04/12/2013 21:17

I am. Uncomfortable with the vagueness of the OP

ilovecolinfirth · 04/12/2013 21:17

Sorry ATruth...jumped to conclusions. Apologies.

notso · 04/12/2013 21:18

FFS what has got everyone at the moment? Period and Truth calm down.

2Tinselly I never saw this with DS1, I thought it was an urban myth.
DS2 had an undescended tesicle and had still has it often. I wouldn't worry about it.

2Tinsellytocare · 04/12/2013 21:18

They wouldn't find much of a description though would they, I've hardly gone into detail. This is so sad, I only posted in AIBU as It seems to be the page most people look at.

OP posts:
Twunk · 04/12/2013 21:18

Husband testicles!!!!! Wtf?!

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 04/12/2013 21:18

Op, to be clear, I wasn't suggesting you'd done anything wrong. Please don't think you have. My point is that other people do bad things online and that subtler wording or posting on a clearly medical board might be less likely to draw attention.

Fwiw, I agree with the others. See your gp if you're worried. Good look Thanks
