Uterine Polyp the size of my thumb...are they really going to just "snip" it out without any sort of anaesthetic????

brief history; has a teeny tiny polyp removed via a hysteroscopy in February. Very fleshy and nurse unsure she had got all of it due to amount of bleeding.

six months on I started bleeding and three months later I haven't stopped. I knew there was something not quite right when I investigated myself, and gynae confirmed yesterday that polyp has grown back, but is nbow godzilla in proportion and is the size of my thumb and growing down through my cervix into my vag Shock

She has referred me back to hysteroscopy.

Now....my previous experience was very, very unpleasant indeed. No anaesthetic, and much discomfort followed by pain, cramping and bleeding, and the last one was teeny, teeny tiny (< 2mm at the base). This time I have an actual finger of angry, bleeding tissue sticking out of me; surely they can't just snip it off?

Can I demand an anaesthetic? I really do not want to be conscious to witness the removal of this monster!

mid cycle bleeding, then pretty much constant bleeding with intermittent flooding. It was horrendous. From the beginning of August until now I have onkly had about seven days of no bleeding, and another ten or so of "just" spotting.

A week and a half after the procedure...nothing Grin

Mr Daisy thinks he's on a promise Hmm

I had a polypectomy in August and my polyp and symptoms were the same as yours sound.

Had my 1st ever g a and afterwards felt immediately better, no cramping, no bleeding etc. was all very straightforward.

I went to get my results of the biopsy yesterday, they weren't available and the main Gynae man happened to be there and offered to do a hysteroscopy there and then (yikes!!!). Strangely enough, the suspected polyp (?) seen on the ultra-sound was not there. Apparently it could have come out with my last heavy period, or just been blood clots building up prior to it. So, he then suggested inserting a Mirena coil - there I was, on my back, legs akimbo, and having to make a decision about something I hadn't even considered. Well, he convinced me that in my case it would be a good idea, to protect the uterus from further endometrial problems/thickening, etc. so I said yes (with the promise that it could be removed later, if it didn't agree with me). Has anyone else been put on the spot like this, or have this Mirena coil??? Not sure if I made a stupid mistake! Thanks xxx
