I have had an itchy left nipple on and off for the past few months. Last night whilst in the bath I noticed it looks different to the right one. It is much larger, and the milk ducts on the underside of my nipple have all joined up and lok swollen.
I have made a GP appointment for 10.50, but am scared sitting here at home all alone....

Oh Sonnet, poor you. I have no idea what it is or what it could be, just wanted to send you hugs. {{{{}}}} I'm sure one of lovely medical bods will be here soon to offer you a couple of possibilities.

shewhoneverdusts · 11/07/2006 09:24

sending hugs and to let you know you're not alone. Well done for making the appointment, that's a big step.

Sonnet · 11/07/2006 09:25

thank you so much.....
Horrible possibilites keep going through my mind and i didn't help myself much by "Googling" itchy nipples last night!

shewhoneverdusts · 11/07/2006 09:27

Never, never google symptoms, you end up with everything going!! Mind you, we all do it, don't we. I spent days googling when I was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease. Most of the sites were in relation to feline kidney disease though!!

mell2 · 11/07/2006 09:30

Sonnet - well done for getting an appointment. Don't be alarmed if they refer you to breast clinic and they put it as urgent. GP's do this so you can be seen within 2 weeks.

It maybe swollen because you have scratched it in the night?

Thinking of you - not long until your appointment nowxxxxxxxx

Sonnet · 11/07/2006 09:30

Yes - I so wish I hadn't - but it did kick me into action this morning and I was on to the Surgery before they switched the answerphone off....I am very lax with my own health - always something "more important" to do...

How is your polycystic kidney disease?

Aww i am sorry please try not to worry, my sister found a lump on her breat about 2 weeks ago & was feeling very anxious & upset, she went to see the gp who tried to put her mind at rest has been referred, please try not to worry to much the gp will help.

Goodluck i have my fingers crossed for you xx

Sonnet · 11/07/2006 09:32

Thanks Mell2....I am hoping I won't be faffed off - I owuld have prefered another doctor to the one I've got but thought it best to grab the first appointment

OP posts:
shewhoneverdusts · 11/07/2006 09:35

As far as I know it's plodding along. I only get checked once a year and that's just bloods and urine tests, oh and also the dreaded weight check. I usually stand on the scales and say "these bloody cysts much weight a tonne", trouble is the nurses just glare at me!!
Things is there's no point stressing about mine because there is no cure. So I tend to have a very chilled attitude to the check up, because it makes no difference what the results show iyswim. Anyway, this thread is about YOU and we're supposed to be helping you pass some time. So how about a coffee? my kettle's just starting to whistle,

mell2 · 11/07/2006 09:36

Yes, definitely don't be faffed off - GP's are not specialists so should refer you to breast clinic. Let them know it has been like it for a couple of months and not to do with your cycle.

If you are like me, you will want it checked out by specialists!xxxxxxxxxxx

Sonnet · 11/07/2006 09:43

Would love a coffee shewhoneverdusts.... was thinking of maybe waving a duster around, (god I must wat to keep busy)but woudn't want to upset you ....

You are so right Mell2, I DO want it checking out by a specialist. Even if this is nothing sinister, there is definatly something not quite right about it

OP posts:
shewhoneverdusts · 11/07/2006 09:46

You wave your duster as much as you like , I wish I could be as motivated, I hate housework, it is soooo repetitive, you do it once and it needs doing again. That's probably just the hussy in me talking

mell2 · 11/07/2006 09:48

No sugar in mine

shewhoneverdusts · 11/07/2006 09:51

Oh bugger, have i got to make another one. See it's like I said, you do it once it needs doing again.!!!, oh and do you take milk?

mell2 · 11/07/2006 09:54

Yes please!

What time do you have to leave Sonnet? Hope you're not letting the side down and dusting

Sonnet · 11/07/2006 09:56

Hehe - well I feel much calmer and lighthearted than I did a while ago....

I too hate housework, but alos hate it when it isn't done - IYKWIM!. Havn't waved the duster yet though..
Coffe is nice by the way, any biccies??

OP posts:
shewhoneverdusts · 11/07/2006 09:57

SONNET - your coffee's getting cold and would you like a hobnob with that?

shewhoneverdusts · 11/07/2006 09:58

Or a chocolate chip cookie, I made some yesterday?

Sonnet · 11/07/2006 09:58

Need to be ready by 10.30 - currently still sitting in PJ's drinking virtal coffee and hopefuolly soon munching virtual biscuits!!
Not much cleaning done....

I don't work on Tuesdays and it is my "housework and doing jobs day", got sports day this pm...oh what fun

OP posts:
Sonnet · 11/07/2006 09:59

shewhoneverdusts · 11/07/2006 10:00

Not the dreaded sports day, I hate that, All those ultra competitive mums trying to look glam while tripping each other's children up!

Sonnet · 11/07/2006 10:03

I see you've been to our sports day then
It is the ones that come all dressed in tracksuits and trainers ready for the parents race that make me chuckle...I've been known to kick off my shoes and run barefeet what is wrong with that eh??

OP posts:
shewhoneverdusts · 11/07/2006 10:08

Absolutely nothing wrong with that, but be careful they don't spike you with their running shoes!! I'm lucky I don't have to do the sports day thing anymore. Mine are older and their schools take them to different venues. The youngest gets taken to the local private school (to make them jealous of the facilities!) for a morning of competitive sports and the oldest goes to our sports centre with the whole school and they compete in house groups. DD is 13, 5 foot weighs 6 stone and got made to do shot putt. She was not impressed.

Sonnet · 11/07/2006 10:11

You lucky thing you!! - I've got years of sports days ahead of me!!
Thanks for chat, coffee and bsicuits. Must dash in shower now!!
