i am so fed up feeling bloated after i eat

i try and pay attention to what it is im eating that makes me feel like this

sometimes i feel 6 mths pg!

i am kind of thinking its bread (i eat tons of the stuff)

could that be it?

OP posts:
Beauregard · 27/06/2006 13:44

I get this too, think that it probably is bread but i couldn't give it up!

hermykne · 27/06/2006 13:44

nailpolish - stop the bread whether its white or wholemeal, its a stodge builder, i can only have it occasionally - try some crakcers instead and then try to eat natural yogurt with some fruit or prunes if u dare.

moondog · 27/06/2006 13:45

Err...it's called eating too much NP.

(A lot of guff talked about bloating and food intolerance.)

nailpolish · 27/06/2006 13:45

but bread is my favourite food!

ill give it a try

nailpolish soory have ot reprimand u here but 4 slices of bread already today!! you deserve that bloated feeling - you have to STOP

moondog · 27/06/2006 13:47

Sounds like too much bread though.

I love it but give it a miss these days.
Have it about once a week now.

Try lentils,chickpeas,quinoa,beans and rice.

moondog · 27/06/2006 13:48

Also Ryvita,spelt bread and oatcakes.

nailpolish · 27/06/2006 13:51

MMM i do like ryvita

i always have a good teatime meal, but mostly toast for breakfast and lunch

with delish healthy toppings i may add

but thanks for clarifying my fears

Since i laid off doughy things at lunch,I have felt more alert and energetic too.
Used to always want to sleep at about 3:00 pm.
Not a good look in the office,or indeed at home when supervising wild toddler.

nailpolish · 27/06/2006 13:54

LOL! nope thats not a good idea

OP posts:
Bugsy2 · 27/06/2006 13:54

can't eat bread at all these days without serious bloating if I do.
I eat corn cakes (like rice cakes but don't smell of poo) & oat things are fine, as long as they are genuinely oat, without any extra wheat added.
White wine makes me bloat badly too, so that's gone as well.
It has taken me ages to cut out the bread & I do occasionally have a croissant or something like that - but I always notice it the next day.

nailpolish · 27/06/2006 13:57

bluch rice cakes are horrible

i shall have a look in the shops for bread alternatives, thanks bugsy

interesting what you say - i am glad its not just me iyswim

OP posts:
nailpolish · 27/06/2006 13:57

so should i stay away from all wheat?

what else is wheat in besides bread??????

OP posts:
moondog · 27/06/2006 13:58

Pasta
Noodles
Breakfast cereals.

Consensus seems to be that we all eat too much of it so cutting down can only help.

nailpolish · 27/06/2006 14:00

sigh

is muesli alright

OP posts:
moondog · 27/06/2006 14:02

Muesli is fine.Make your own. It's much better for you.
Rye flakes
Oats
Barley flakes
Linseed
Wheatgerm
Poppy seeds
Dried fruit
Nuts

I have it every single morning with fruit and plain yoghurt.

nailpolish · 27/06/2006 14:06

MD you are the perfect person to settle a small argument:

do you think its important to wash fruit thoroughly?

we buy ours from a local farmshop

sometimes pick our own

nailpolish - do u like porridge, as it really helps clean the intestine out!!! and it fills u up in the morn, i put blueberries and pureed pear on mine. helps me say no to toast!

i wouldnt kill yourself giving up all wheat but stopping the bread will help
and then a big lump of naan or garlic or whatevers your favourite at the weekend wont be so bad!

hermykne · 27/06/2006 14:07

i often give my kids non washed fruit if we are out and they want it from the basket.
is that bad

nailpolish · 27/06/2006 14:09

ive never tried proper porridge, takes ages to cook does it not?

although i have heard there are quick cook ones now

OP posts:
nailpolish · 27/06/2006 14:10

mum has porridge with salt

OP posts:
hermykne · 27/06/2006 14:15

it taKES NO TIME
i put one cup of porrdige and two a bit cups of water in a pot and its ready in 5/7mins, usually will i empty dishwasher on morn.
but no salt, and the fruit makes it nicer

hermykne · 27/06/2006 14:15

that serves 2 adults and my ds.

moondog · 27/06/2006 14:29

I can't see that it matters much re fruit. If there are loads of chemicals on it,a quick rinse under the tap isn't going to shift 'em. try to but don't always and |I eat at least five pieces of fruit a day.

Porridge is a piece of piss to make (and you being Scottish-the shame!!)
Costs absolutely bugger all too.
Don't go in for all those oat based over packaged things.Waste of time and mark up is phenomenal.Big bag od oats is all you need.
My dh takes kgs to Turkey with him and has lost about 2 stone in the last six months.
