I've had it for about a week now. Started off with sore throat, coughing, heavy cold. Now (a week on) it's added fever, lethargy and vomiting & diarrorhea to its repertoire. I feel utterly depleted and was wondering when it's going to end!

Glad you are feeling a bit better musicalfamily, let's hope that it lasts, maybe you should get onto the drs after the weekend to chase up X-ray results as you are feeling anxious, it can't hurt to try, it's truly horrid waitng for results. I am also feeling a bit better,(fingers crossed) still full of a cold though and a bit heady, and also really sweating especially at night time? also been awake since 4am can't sleep properly which doesn't help, but I've been taking sudafed tablets and some of the side effects is insomnia and sweating, so I'm ditching those today to see if I can sleep and stop sweating! Really hoping for a normal weekend after spending the last 3 in bed! Hope everyone else is feeling better too. :)

musicalfamily · 04/10/2013 15:09

You too, let's hope for all of us having a nice weekend. I think I am feeling a bit better but I am very anxious now, like you say I will probably ring up on Monday/Tue if I haven't heard. They did say 2 weeks, so I guess it's very early days...

GhostsInSnow · 04/10/2013 18:02

Interesting reading. I've had head pains, earache and jaw/toothache for about a week. Feel light headed, loss of appetite. Feel like I've got pressure in my head as though I'm about to start with a severe cold that never materialises. I ache everywhere, I'm so hot I'm itchy. Then the runs started on Wednesday, headaches as well and now my stomach just feels like there is a ball of wind in there if that makes sense.

DD (16) had the full on stinking cough/cold about 3 weeks ago, spent a week in bed, partially recovered and then started with the headachey symptoms yesterday the same as me. She's also got no appetite and generally feels shitty.

One of the weirdest viruses I've ever had as the symptoms are so varied!

hillbilly · 05/10/2013 07:35

HI Musicalfamily - I'm on a 7 day course of ABs called Clarithromycin. Last day today. My chest feels much better but I'm still bringing up some yellowy green phlegm (sorry tmi!).

I hope you get better soon.

musicalfamily · 05/10/2013 10:48

Hi Hillbilly, I have been the same.

I am on my second course of antibiotics now and still coughing up stuff but a LOT less than before. My chest also feels better. I had my chest X-ray on Wednesday, fingers crossed we get better very soon!!

Clairemum123 · 05/10/2013 12:29

Hi all, my chest was much clearer after 2nd lot of antibiotics, but still felt really rough afterwards, and I'm still coughing up yucky stuff in the mornings, but the last few days I have felt better day by day, especially since i stopped the sudafed tablets, think I may have taken them for too long as I sweated at night and couldn't sleep, fingers crossed you will all be better soon, unfortunately my little boy is now poorly :( but at least I'm well enough to look after him. Take care everybody and have a good weekend, try and get some sun, that always helps :)

Highlander · 05/10/2013 13:55

OMG, I've got that!

I feel terrible; felt lethargic fir a week, niw I've had the cough fir a week. It's now developinto a febrile illness.

Yuk.

fatmumjane · 05/10/2013 14:36

Me too, it's crap - tricks you into thinking you're getting better then wham.. The bastard pulls the rug from under your feet again! Hmm

Clairemum123 · 07/10/2013 08:08

Hi all, hope everyone is feeling better after the weekend. Well there is light at the end of the tunnel, after nearly five weeks, I feel so much better, still a bit headachy, still have a cough now and again and a bit tired but I can pretty much function normally now, yay! ( finger crossed it doesn't come back)!! Hope everyone else feels this way, never want to be poorly like that again for so long, it's such a worry. I even feel like shopping again so I must of felt really ill! Musicalfamily I hope you get your X-ray results ASAP, keep chasing them till they give them to you! :)

musicalfamily · 07/10/2013 12:13

Hi Clairemum123,
I am soooo glad you feel better!!!
I am kind of the same as you, I still have a cough now and then and my voice still sounds slightly croaky so not 100% yet but I am a hell of a lot better than I was!! This is also my 5th week!!
Still haven't heard anything from my X-rays, I am kind of hoping that there isn't anything horrible if I haven't heard by the end of today/tomorrow as it's been since Wednesday? Or is that wishful thinking?

Clairemum123 · 07/10/2013 15:24

Musicalfamily I'm glad you are feeling better too, it's got to be a good sign for you especially regarding your X-ray results, stay positive. On the downside I've had to collect my daughter from school, she had a similar thing for about a week, a week ago, but seems to be feeling the same again :( it definitely come back to hit you! She's 11 and it's hard to get an 11 year old to rest up after they've been poorly. Anyway take care everybody and rest up!

musicalfamily · 07/10/2013 15:57

I can't believe it Clariemum, my DD1 is at home with it today too!!!!
(she is 8 but it's still difficult to get an 8 year old to rest!!!)

LittleNoona · 07/10/2013 16:21

I'm on my third week of this. I posted when the thread was started and thought I'd got over it. Then yesterday evening I started with a niggly dry cough and haven't stopped since.

I have a runny nose and a terrible neck ache, also feeling a bit queasy on and off.

Dd is coughing too so between us, we're a right sorry pair Hmm

Clairemum123 · 07/10/2013 18:32

Oh dear musicalfamily, at least we are feeling well enough to look after them, but I really don't want to catch anything else thank you very much! Just want my normal life back even including school runs &housework etc

Get well soon littlenoona, it seems to come back and hit you when you think it's gone!

theboutiquemummy · 07/10/2013 18:40

We've had this soo much snot, coughing and sinus pain. Don't forget the vomiting

Google Leon's cold buster it's held it a bay for the last three weeks

Clairemum123 · 11/10/2013 18:19

Hi all, I assuming we are all feeling better? I can certainly feel aspects of this virus, it doesn't feel as though it's gone, it's lingering in the background! Musicalfamily did you get your X-ray results?

Have a great weekend if anyone is watching this :)

InMySpareTime · 11/10/2013 20:51

I think the virus is gone, but I've had toothache/jaw ache/earache for most of the week so I don't really feel better yet...

musicalfamily · 11/10/2013 21:41

hello everyone, waves at Clairemum123

I phoned the GP today and they informed me the X-ray results were clear - hurrah to that!!

I feel tons better, although like you Clairemum, I still feel the virus or whatever it was/is, hasn't gone completely. I still cough now and then and if I don't put in my steroid nasal spray for a couple of days, my nose starts to get all banged up again. My voice also still sounds a bit hoarse, as if I had a cold.

Still, I feel much more like myself and it's a relief not to feel like I am on death's door all the time.....hope you all feel better soon xx

Clairemum123 · 11/10/2013 21:53

That's great news musical, what a huge relief for you! :) I'm much the same as you,but let's hope we've had our bout of illness, although dd is poorly again today after doing PE outdoors in shorts & t shirt, she wasn't allowed to wear her track suit as the teacher told her to feel the pain, the teacher will feel the pain when I see her!

Anyway get well soon everyone else, in mysparetime, my neighbour has something similar to you,but she seems to be getting better after 5 weeks of it, hang in there! :)

musicalfamily · 14/10/2013 08:55

Just a quick update for everyone who might be having the same thing that I am finally better (as from this weekend). It has taken exactly 6 weeks to get rid of this horrendous bug, so if anyone has similar try and look after yourself as much as possible and don't be too disheartened, it will eventually go!!

mumof31982 · 14/10/2013 14:49

Hi ive haf this virus for 4 weeks hot n cold dizzy feel weak legs felt like jelly dnv body aching alk over out of breathe chest hurt sniffles had enough all doctors said wad take ibruofen paracetamol fluids and rest saw him 3 times still hasnt gone so went up hospital this morning and get blood tests back in a hourvat last might be able to get rid of this virus

Clairemum123 · 14/10/2013 21:57

This virus is awful, but it might take a while to go, after 6 weeks, I think I'm almost back to normal, (touch wood) so much better than a few weeks ago, felt like I was at deaths door, so there is light at the end of the tunnel, get plenty of rest, drink as much as possible and try manuka honey and natural yoghurt and vitamin c to boost your immune system, hang in there it will get better, stay positive! Get well soon

TheCrumpetQueen · 14/10/2013 22:06

I've had a sore throat for 3 weeks :( can hardly swallow. Had 2 colds in two weeks and now I cannot shift this cough and sore throat :( running around after ds 10 month old doesnt help

Sleep404 · 14/10/2013 22:28

Whole family had just what you describe through September. It was like the virus kept reinventing itself. Then just when we all started to feel better, ds catches hand, foot & mouth and shares it with DH. Luckily Dd and I have avoided this particular joy which given the sores on DHs feet I am exceptionally glad about.
Now if they can all just get better so I can have a rest Hmm
