Q1: How old are your kids? 8, 6, 2.5
Q2a: How many times have you called an ambulance for them? Never
Q3a and b: How many times have you been to A&E with kids? DS1 - too many to count, he had weak joints and used to dislocate his elbows on a regular basis. We were advised to always go in as after a certain amount of 'pulls' they would then refer him to a specialist.
Went in after he fell down MILs stairs and then started vomiting, but it was just a virus coincidental with the fall.
Fell over and fell face first on DS2s potty, his teeth went through his top lip - returned later that night when a piece of plastic from the potty gouged out by one of his teeth started to come out of his lip (his mouth had been too swollen to see it embedded in before) - cleaned him up, removed plastic everything else fine.
Fell over at school face first onto some playground equipment (quite soon after accident above, and another where he'd fallen face fist from his bunkbed) because it was the third time he'd damaged the same teeth we were referred to the maxillofacial department to see if there was any underlying damage to his face and adult teeth (baby ones were well and truly dead by now) He was monitored until they fell out naturally last year, they though they might have to surgically remove them.
Hurt his toe playing football in bare feet at school, took him in and was diagnosed with a broken toe.
Last time (last year) he went in on NHS Direct advice, because his throat was so swollen he was having trouble breathing, and was drooling - was given antibiotics.
Oh and just remembered possible calpol OD when I stupidly left the open bottle on the floor when I was trying to dose DS2 post vax, must have been 2.5? He was fine - the bottle was emptier than I thought (in my panic)
DS2 - high temperature, dry nappies and refusing to feed or take water for a day at 5 months, went in on NHS Direct advice - after waiting there 4 hours the little bugger started feeding (diagnosed virus)
last time was about 5 years ago when he was 1, he lost his balance just the right angle and distance from a concrete doorframe to land face first on it. He had an huge indentation from hair line to chin running down the center of his face, blood everywhere. We went in and had an Xray but it was fine, just very scary looking.
DD absolutely nothing.
DS1 is a nightmare............I'm sure there are more with him. I have a vague recollection of him falling off the back of the sofa and having a bump so huge and gross I took him straight in. IIRC by the time we were seen he was full of beans and completely unconcerned and we were sent home with a head injuries leaflet.
Sorry this is so long. I wouldn't have started if I realised how accident prone we are!
