Name changed for obvious reasons.

I had a minor gynae op four weeks ago. All is well with that, all bleeding from it stopped some time ago. I now have a horrible discharge, had it for about 5 days. It is like a very heavy period in flow, but is pale pinky yellow in colour and watery.

The worst thing is (embarrassed) is that is really stinks. Horrible rotten meat smell. It's almost like pus. I can't have pus dripping from there can I?

I called the dr surgery and spoke to the triage nurse FridY and have an appointment tomorrow for a swab. But I will have to do the swab myself in the loo, no way am I having some poor cow go anywhere near me in this state.

I have a period like pain as well.

Pus-y pussy. Fucking marvellous.

Shocking of the nurse from your surgery to triage that you can wait in my non medical opinion, hope you get sent in the right direction

BoreOfWhabylon · 21/04/2013 18:41

Pleased they have called back. Hopefully you'll be getting treatment soon now.

And don't worry about stinky yoni - no need for embarrassment.

QOD · 21/04/2013 18:48

The swab yoni take a minute, you'll yoni be embarrassed briefly ;)

GaryMcGuigan · 21/04/2013 18:57

Lol at the yoni stuff Grin

I am waiting for doc to call back from the out of ours, the nurse from NHS direct said that I need to be seen today. I think I will wait for the OOHs appointment, I know what my local A and E is like, it will be heaving on a Sunday evening but the OOH docs are generally very efficient.

I don't know whether it is psychological but in the last nor or s I have started to feel quite unwell and the stomach pain is more pronounced now. So hope they will give strong Antibs for it and get rid of this fucking awful stench.

BoreOfWhabylon · 21/04/2013 19:03

It's good that you will be seen soon, but I think it quite likely that you will be referred onward to hospital, so be prepared.

This sort of infection often needs IV antibiotics to knock it on the head quickly.

Do you have a thermometer? Have you taken your temp? Would be a good idea to do so if you can.

UnChartered · 21/04/2013 19:03

so glad you rang them, OP

get well soon x

MrsFrederickWentworth · 21/04/2013 19:06

Keep the pressure up. Bore is right.

GaryMcGuigan · 21/04/2013 19:07

Thanks very much, hopefully will get it sorted. Urgh at the thought of IV Antibs, mind you XP had septicaemia from a cut and he became ill quite quickly and was in hospital for a few days on IV antibiotics.

I bet Brain from Hull could make it better with his healing hands.

BoreOfWhabylon · 21/04/2013 19:08

Thanks MrsFred Grin

3littlefrogs · 21/04/2013 19:08

Another one saying you probably need IV antibiotics tonight. Please don't be fobbed off. Septicaemia is a real risk.

SoupDragon · 21/04/2013 19:09

When you go, go prepare for a hospital stay just in case.

Hope all is well!

redwellybluewelly · 21/04/2013 19:11

I think if you start to feel much worse you should head towards A&E if you can. Can anyone go with you? Can they be packing an overnight bag while you wait for further instructions?

Hope you get treatment soon, I've only ever had an infected toe but that was eye watering.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 21/04/2013 19:13

And please, please don't worry about letting the nurse take the swab - they will understand that it is an infection, and they will be more concerned about making sure that the swab is taken properly so you get the treatment tht you need - any smell is a secondary concern for them.

I hope you feel better soon. Thanks

digerd · 21/04/2013 19:14

Have you tken your temperature to see if raised?

FannyFifer · 21/04/2013 19:19

You poor thing, foul smelling discharge after an operation on any area needs checked, please don't be embarrassed, I am a nurse and honestly an infected yoni is no different to me than a leg.
Best of luck.

Gunznroses · 21/04/2013 19:19

Do hope you are alright, it sounds like a major infection, please don't faff around with OOH, you need to get to hospital.

BoreOfWhabylon · 21/04/2013 19:24

Believe me, there are far worse jobs than swabbing a whiffy yoni!

And it's easy to tell infection from filthy minger, IYSWIM.

cjel · 21/04/2013 19:32

Reluctantly - thats not fair making me laugh at memory of Brian this is serious !!OP hope you are getting treatment?

tribpot · 21/04/2013 19:32

I do hope the OP presents with the words 'Hello doctor, I've got a whiffy yoni'. If the doctor is a MNer, no more need be said.

Agree about taking temp, and don't wait too long for OOH to call back.

On the plus side, kudos on avoiding the 'UCM is that you' scenario.

Garymcguigan · 21/04/2013 21:40

I have just got back from the hospital, very mortifying experience because it smelled so bloody awful, I cried like a twat (doctor was very kind). Anyway taken swabs and has given me these enormous antibiotics which I have never heard of. No fever which is good. And she told me if I feel worse tomorrow to g straight to GP.

Thanks everyone for your kindness and reassurance. Nest of vipers my arse, Thanks

FannyFifer · 21/04/2013 21:43

That's good you've got an antibiotic, if no improvement in next couple of days go to GP.

Sparklingbrook · 21/04/2013 21:43

Oh that's great. A couple of days and you will be all good. x

tribpot · 21/04/2013 21:48

Thank goodness for that. Mortifying, yes, but definitely necessary. Hope you're feeling better very soon.

cjel · 21/04/2013 21:50

Well done you. Hope they work really quickly.xx
