I know this is s long shot but can anyone in the Poole, Dorset area recommend a child friendly, NHS dentist (preferably with a surgery carpark!) It's a lot to ask I know.....

Not a presonal recommendation (ie I don't use them) but there is an NHS dentist attached to the Madeira Road surgery in Parkstone, I think. They are generally full, though, I understand.

Thanks Oakmaiden but unfortunately we used to go there and after being messed around with numerous changes of dentist (seem to have a high turnover)and an obnoxious receptionist have hence decided to go elsewhere.

ooooooh - you must be near me then

starry · 15/01/2004 20:15

Oh Gawd, hope you aren't close personal friends with aforementioned obnoxious receptionist !!!

I'm in Upper Parkstone BTW but i'm not a local girl so still finding my way around the area.

Hi Starry, I know a very nice one in Moordown, a bit of a trek for you though.

BTW, we are arranging a meeet-up if you're interested. Sont know details yet but let me know if you're up for it.

suzywong · 15/01/2004 21:58

This is a great thread, I'm looking for one in my area as I am still exempt from paying cos of new baby and DS1 has a chip or erosion on front tooth.

Won't high jack yours though but maybe I will suggest it to the site to put a list of people's NHS recommendations.

PS am enjoying reading posts and hearing place names as used to go out with a chap from Broadstone many years ago and spent more than a few nights under-age drinking in The Helmsman and the Mariners.

starry · 16/01/2004 12:17

Hi Bunny3 - does the dentist at Moordown have a carpark? I'd be prepared to try if it did as otherwise dragging around DS1(almost 4) and DS2 (21m) trying to find parking place in nearby streets, etc is a nightmare.

Are the details of the meet up on another thread? Looked briefly but did not see anything for Poole/Bournemouth area.

Starry - I'm in Upper Parkstone too. Um, quite near the Homebase roundabout (don't want to be any more precise, cos, well, you know....). If you ever want to email me I have an address with Hotmail.com - Oakmaiden is my name there too.

bunny2 · 16/01/2004 19:03

Starry, when I took ds last week, I parked right outside. There are free 1 hour parking bays all along the road. It's on the Wimborne Road but the quiet end not the busy end. I'll get the phone no if you want.

Re the meet-up, its under Southampton. I thought the nearest Mumsnetters were in Southampton. I love meeting people so am happy to arrange something more local. We go to Poole park at least once a fortnight (we jump on the train as we are almost next to Pokesdown station). In fact we went there today. It would be easy to arrange to meet there. Oakmaiden, are you interested?

Oakmaiden · 16/01/2004 19:09

Absolutely - we could all take bread and wear macs and pretend to be secret agents meeting in the park and feeding the ducks....

Or we could meet in the cafe next to the pond?

Kittypickle · 16/01/2004 19:30

I love feeding the ducks, but those geese are nasty! Don't mind being a secret agent or going to the cafe.

Oakmaiden · 16/01/2004 19:40

I got bitten by one of the Canada geese when my son was small. Bl**dy things. I am normally all green and fluffy and wear hairy jumpers and everything, but everytime they do a cull (which they try to keep quiet cos weird people object) I just celebrate....

bunny2 · 16/01/2004 21:37

Ok, Poole Park ii is, we'll bring bread for the ducks, Oakmaiden, you bring stones!

Kittiepickle, do you know Poole Park?

I cant meet till w/ 26th Jan. For me Mondays are usually ok, or Wed, Fri or Sat. What's good for everyone else?

Kittypickle · 16/01/2004 21:59

I do know Poole Park, we lived in Poole when DD was born and she took her very first steps in Poole Park - think she was trying to run away from the geese! What about Monday 26th ? Can everyone do that ?

Oakmaiden · 16/01/2004 22:01

Fine for me!

bunny2 · 17/01/2004 15:28

Oh no! Cant do Monday. Sorry, we are going to be in Spain and dont get back here till Mon afternoon. Drat. I can do Friday or Saturday, is that any good for you?

Oakmaiden · 17/01/2004 15:40

Again - both fine for me (Hm, I have no life...)

bunny2 · 17/01/2004 15:41
Grin
Kittypickle · 17/01/2004 15:46

I can do Friday. Spain ? Sounds lovely Bunny2, very jealous !

starry · 17/01/2004 19:45

Is that Fri 23rd or Fri 30th? I can do either but only after 11am.

OP posts:
starry · 17/01/2004 19:46

Are you one and the same bunny2/3?

OP posts:
bunny2 · 18/01/2004 21:03

Yep, I am Bunny 1/2 and 3. Dont know why I have to keep changing it but I do. Spain will be a working break, no time to sit in the sun we used to live there and have a few business things to sort out so it'll be sitting in a hot smokey lawyers office for hours on end.

I can do the 30th after 11 is fine. If you want to go ahead and meet before that I wont be upset! Can I put it in my diary then?

Kittypickle · 19/01/2004 11:10

Friday 30th 11ish is fine for me

Oakmaiden · 19/01/2004 11:34

OK - I'll put it in my diary. Hope you realise that my daughter will be EXTRA grumpy, cos she likes to nap then. Ah, well.....

bunny2 · 19/01/2004 17:17

Fantastic, it's a date! Where? the playground or the cafe?
