Hey it's me HND !!! Just waiting for my leeches to be brought round .... Had two today (sooty and sweep) these two will be called
Pinky and perky ! I see topsy has been keeping you informed ..... The surgery has been more traumatic and painful than I thought but still glad I have done two ops in one ! Hope you are all doing Ok, I've not been awake enough to read much ladies x

overthemill · 12/01/2013 19:20

happy birthday smee!

jchocchip · 12/01/2013 19:52

Happy Birthday, Smee :)
hnd sorry to hear that it has been traumatic. Not had any experience of leeches myself, but think I would find them fascinating...
parkrun pb today and two friends from work came for the first time. Rather a nice day for it, we haven't had snow here yet...

MaryAnnSingleton · 12/01/2013 21:31

hnd - lots of love for a speedy recovery !

Copthallresident · 12/01/2013 21:48

Happy Birthday Smee , hope you had a lovely time walking by the Thames. Girls are feeding goon dog mussels, unless sheepdogs have some long forgotten beach role and Baywatch missed that story line I fear the consequences....

Copthallresident · 12/01/2013 21:51

hnd you could start a soap, leachenders! You are obviuously feeling better and I am going to be so envious of your tit.

topsyturner · 13/01/2013 00:48

Evening

HND was soooo much better this evening . She still has a way to go , but def going in the right direction .

Have just drunk an entire bottle of my fave wine all to myself .
Gonna regret that in the morning ...

I want to go shopping tomorrow .
Want some new day dresses .
I have lived in jeans and trews for years , and am trying to wear more dresses .
Where would you recommend a Woman Of Substance fat goes to buy her dresses ???

Copthallresident · 13/01/2013 09:25

Topsy ( though my iPad wants to call you tipsy!!) I' ll whisper and put a litre of fat coke on the table as it is the morning after the night before....

But just read about coley's immunotherapy , infection that put me in hospital after first chemo was strep, perhaps that is why I am still here too?! Hmm Hmm but what was that article recommending? That you grow bacteria and then infect your self??

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/01/2013 09:38

day dresses sounds very genteel tipsytopsy

Gigondas · 13/01/2013 10:35

Brew Topsy?

Maybe I could offer parts of my house as coleys clinic as they must harbour a good few bugs .

I like fat face /white stuff tunics/teeshirt dresses and m and s skinny jeans. I think surprisingly nice whatever size you are as aren't too fitted. Also I get too cold in tights and am a bit self conscious of the shark bite out of my bum in anything too fitted.

M and s also been good for day dresses tho must say its better in store than on line.
Am sure I would be shot down on s and b if saw this.

Anyone seen the thread on annoying things on Mn? I nodded on a lot of those.

My Onc explained Coleys Bacterium thus -
Coley used to inject live bacteria into and around people's tumours . The theory being that it would spur your own anti bodies into over drive super fight mode .

Only problem with Coleys work was that the treatment killed a high percentage of his patients !

He did eventually figure out a way of using non lethal bacteria , and he was getting a 50% success rate with this . He was a bone cancer specialist though , was a top oncologist at Sloan Kettering in USA .

Anyhow , my Onc thinks my body did its own version of Coleys Bacterium when I got a fairly horrific post op infection . And whilst I was being treated for that in hospital , I managed to get pneumonia too .

Bingo Bongo , spontaneous remission of my lung mets .
Odds are less than 1 in 100,000 people will have this type of remission .

CT results a week on Monday will tell me if Coleys Bacterium still working , or if I need to go rub some dog poo into an open wound ........ Grin

Gigondas · 13/01/2013 10:41

Can't you just get pig dog to lick the wound?

OP posts:
topsyturner · 13/01/2013 10:45

Gratefully accepting all cups of coffee !

Think my house might rival yours though Gigs in the harbouring bacterium .
DS was once learning how to include verbs and nouns in sentences at school , and he wrote "my house is big and dirty" !!!!!
HND then gave the classic reply of "it ain't big dear" ........... Grin

And Mas one is verrrry genteel .....

topsyturner · 13/01/2013 10:46

Pig/dog licks everything !
Think I must be immune to him .

Gigondas · 13/01/2013 11:45

Would pig dog eat a furby? If so he can come round here.

OP posts:
topsyturner · 13/01/2013 12:07

Pig/dog would love it and squeeze it and call it his very best friend !
then he would systematically destroy it

Copthallresident · 13/01/2013 12:29

Next thread can be under the trampoline clearing up goon dogs poo! I now realise there is some benefit to having to get down on my hands and knees to clear it up whilst he stands back and laughs I am sure it will be particularly efficacious after those mussels he eat last night work their way through .

So now we have cracked a cure for Cancer, next .....

Actually it isn't that woo to focus on your immune system. Tipsy (sorry ipad again) I am sure once kickstarted like that your immune system will stay in overdrive

Dress wise phase 8 was where I had biggest choice of dresses that covered my multitude of lumps and bumps , including fat tit and way too small fake tit. I gather you have them in NI now. And I'm a white stuff fan too though resent fitting into their demographic which is a wee bit too smug middle class IYSWIM. You have them now too. Used to be a time when friend in NI bemoaned that no good shops opened in Belfast.

Btw smee Thanks for prompting me, now have appointment to get new NHS fake tit fitted, not ever had that before, as this one ordered online from HK. Feel trepidation as such potential for BCN to be a pain, odds on I have to have the why haven't you had reconstruction conversation.

Off to see Les Mis this pm, I regard myself as les Mis aristocracy having dragged my parents to see a musical with really grim reviews in its first week just because it was on in the building I was studying in. We loved it , so it caught on and Cameron Mackintosh owes us, back then Michael Ball was letchworthy rather than Luvvy and pet hate worthy. So I am very excited [saddo emoticon] though I'm worried about Eddie Redmayne , his lips remind me of the slugs I battle in my garden, especially with the palid slug coloured lippy they used on him for Birdsong. And Russell Crowes singing Hmm

I love White Stuff and Fat Face though found nothing I really liked apart from scarves and mittens this winter...the dresses /tunics always look nice though.

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/01/2013 14:38

waves to amber - are things still a bit Confused at the mo ?

topsyturner · 13/01/2013 17:16

Evening All

Bought a pair of boots (Clarks , Majorca Villa in black)
Bought a dress in M&S
Dress is just above the knee , in greens and neutrals .

Think I might have to go back to Clarks and buy the boots in tan now too ..... Grin

Gigondas · 13/01/2013 17:17

Those boots are lovely... I blame you if you have set me up to buy some boots.

OP posts:
HerNextDoorAt21 · 13/01/2013 18:32

Agggggh topsyturner ..... I was stroking those in Clarks before Christmas :( can I am how much and any left and would you mind us being twins ?

PenisColada · 13/01/2013 18:45

Well I am almost ready for Tuesday, I do feel like a prisoner on death row awaiting my punishment as I feel really well and know I will not feel so good soon. I don't do pain very well.

Legs waxed, new toothbrush purchased, freezer filled. Just the packing to do.

Did you tell your dc's school ? My 2 are at different schools and will be staying with grandparents more than usual and am not sure if the teachers will. Lice of they are worried. The homework will slip over the next couple of weeks so I guess I should ring them.

Oh and does anyone know if free wifi is a feature of hospitals these days ? My iPad is wifi only and I need it !

Gigondas · 13/01/2013 18:50

Yes tell the school- big gigs were lovely and even put extra notes in about what they had done so I wouldn't miss out .

I had free wifi but was private- I think it was all over hospital but not sure if had to pay.

It's natural to be nervous but think of it as massive step to getting rid of this. Also it may not be as bad as you fear.
