A week down the line and I'm still passing out (tho not in H+M)...

Last week I posted here about my very scary experience and feeling very unwell..passed out in H+M with weird chest ache and cramp.

I saw an OOH doc and them my GP who thought virus..possibly labrynthitis because I can't stand up for more than a minute or so.

By Saturday night my family were scared enough to call a paramedic.. if I tried to move my heart rate went through the roof (DH is a cyclist so has a monitor). They took me to A+E. Not an experience I ever want to repeat.. they monoitored my heart for a whole 2 mins lying flat (so calm at that precise point) then left me there all night between a couple of drunks and someone who had taken an overdose:(
Next day I was seen briefly by a neuro as have past history of ataxia (balance problems). They felt it was the ataxia back but presenting differently and want me back in their clinic asap. That would be fine but it's NOT the same...I may be unable to balance again but the cause is the chest pressure and pain which makes me faint! In between I can balance fine!

So I'm stuck.. I should be at work but can't because more than a few paces and the world spins as my chest pounds. Have docs on thursday..again.
Evidently whatever is wrong is not killing me (yet!) as I'm still here and the symptoms started last tuesday, BUT something is WRONG and it's not bloody ataxia either. I'm not usually anxious about my health but right now I want to know what the HELL is happening.

I need the GP to be proactive (she was indeed worried but not useful if you kwim!) I THINK I need a heart monitor.. I'm not being dramatic but I think as it keeps feeling weird..well I can FEEL it and I can't normally and I'm going faint, it needs checking for more than 2 mins.

Any experience anyone? thoughts? suggestions? I'm staying away from google as I know I'll only scare myself shitless!

I just want to feel normal again!

hellymelly · 11/11/2012 16:45

Hope you are getting seen medusa and that you are getting proper assessment and treatment. Good luck.

LadyMaryChristmas · 12/11/2012 11:54

I really do hope you're OK, Medusa.

GreenEggsAndNichts · 12/11/2012 12:51

I was made aware of this thread via the one in Chat. I do hope you've been seen by someone, Medusa! I wish I had advice to give.

MedusaIsHavingABadHairDay · 12/11/2012 18:58

Thankyou everyone for your concern..and nagging. Mumsnet is the best.

I did indeed go back in.. was hooked up and drugged up! It appears that my genetic ataxia has thrown up a whole host of new problems, one of which being autonomic control.. ie heart rate, nervous system stuff is all wonky. So it appears I won't die from my heart going nuts..it's just a new add on :/

I have now had my ataxia meds whacked up and my heart isn't misbehaving quite as frequently so I guess they are helping. Side effects from the meds are pretty vile (tingling lips and fingers etc ) but ho hum.

I'm back at the hospital tomorrow to see them and ask a LOT of questions about how this is going to affect my future, as it's a massive deterioration from previous attacks.

Thanks again tho everyone!

Oh, Medusa - I'm sorry that your diagnosis is complicated and the meds are nasty, but I am very pleased that someone is taking you seriously at last and that you are going to have the chance to ask lots of questions.
Good luck and I hope your side effects settle down soon.

CrikeyOHare · 12/11/2012 19:07

Really, really glad you're OK. Was so worried about you!

Thanks
OhYoubadbadKitten · 12/11/2012 19:09

Good that they are now looking after you :) what are they doing with you tomorrow?

LivesInJeans · 12/11/2012 19:15

A couple of people have already mentioned POTS. Please check out the website

OhYoubadbadKitten · 12/11/2012 19:18

I'm having a tilt table test tomorrow for POTS so if that is on your list of tests I'll be able to say what it's like.

TotallyEggFlipped · 12/11/2012 19:43

So glad you've been sorted out. I was really worried for you reading your earlier posts and couldn't understand why none of the medics seemed that concerned about your heart rate and symptoms. Fortunately I've only just found the thread, so I haven't been panicking about you too long!

digerd · 12/11/2012 19:46

Thought and hoped you'd be in hospital having proper tests, so glad you contacted us. Hope they will take extra care of you now, and wish you all the best
