A week down the line and I'm still passing out (tho not in H+M)...

Last week I posted here about my very scary experience and feeling very unwell..passed out in H+M with weird chest ache and cramp.

I saw an OOH doc and them my GP who thought virus..possibly labrynthitis because I can't stand up for more than a minute or so.

By Saturday night my family were scared enough to call a paramedic.. if I tried to move my heart rate went through the roof (DH is a cyclist so has a monitor). They took me to A+E. Not an experience I ever want to repeat.. they monoitored my heart for a whole 2 mins lying flat (so calm at that precise point) then left me there all night between a couple of drunks and someone who had taken an overdose:(
Next day I was seen briefly by a neuro as have past history of ataxia (balance problems). They felt it was the ataxia back but presenting differently and want me back in their clinic asap. That would be fine but it's NOT the same...I may be unable to balance again but the cause is the chest pressure and pain which makes me faint! In between I can balance fine!

So I'm stuck.. I should be at work but can't because more than a few paces and the world spins as my chest pounds. Have docs on thursday..again.
Evidently whatever is wrong is not killing me (yet!) as I'm still here and the symptoms started last tuesday, BUT something is WRONG and it's not bloody ataxia either. I'm not usually anxious about my health but right now I want to know what the HELL is happening.

I need the GP to be proactive (she was indeed worried but not useful if you kwim!) I THINK I need a heart monitor.. I'm not being dramatic but I think as it keeps feeling weird..well I can FEEL it and I can't normally and I'm going faint, it needs checking for more than 2 mins.

Any experience anyone? thoughts? suggestions? I'm staying away from google as I know I'll only scare myself shitless!

I just want to feel normal again!

Oh Medusa I hope that you get properly diagnosed and helped soon, this does seem to have dragged on for you and it must be really frightening. Please update when have been seen again. Good luck.

Ilovecake1 · 09/11/2012 22:32

I hope you have had a better day today..please update when you have so e news.

MedusaIsHavingABadHairDay · 11/11/2012 09:39

Just updating again.. sunday.
Now have horrendous vertigo with it.. has been getting worse. Struggling to sleep because my head pounds/room swims when I lie down , managed to get just over na hour asleep last night before waking with a hammering head and heart and throwing up. No sleep since because I can't lie down without the room spinning.

Really struggling to walk now:( I'm not sure whether the tablets are making it worse but there is no one to ask on a sunday and I'm waiting to be called to the neuros (they should be ringing tomorrow). My heart rate is still majorly erratic and after 12 days of this, getting worse, I am SCARED.

I'm usually a practical person , no health anxieties, getting on with my life and job . I'm really worried about my job, and frankly now I'm scared that on one of the major 'episodes' this will be IT.

I've also really lost my faith in the NHS. I've never needed them like this before and now I do, they are not very helpful and they don't LISTEN.

I will update again tuesday (assuming they have seen me and I'm still alive!) Sorry this is the longest health thread but it's the only place I can put how SCARED I am. My 4 kids are scared enough as it is without my saying anything:(

Oh, Medusa :(

I know that there are cardiac nurses & even a cardiologist amongst Mumsnetters. Would you mind if I put a shout out for you to see if we can get you some support? Traffic is never high here.

I'm really worried for you, but that's a fat lot of use. I'm so sorry.

Go to A&E. Now. If necessary cry until someone listens.

Write down everything from last 2 weeks do you don't have to keep repeating it.

Somebodysomewhere · 11/11/2012 10:16

Please go to A and E. Insist they monitor you overnight, please.

larrygrylls · 11/11/2012 10:18

I agree.

A&E. In this day and age, no one should suffer as you are without being properly assessed in a hospital. Take someone with you for support if possible.

YankeeAlphaBravoUniform · 11/11/2012 10:26

You are scared and think you have cardiac issues. A and E now, as you feel your problem is escalating.

CrikeyOHare · 11/11/2012 10:31

Medusa - really, really, really A&E NOW

digerd · 11/11/2012 10:32

I phoned NHS direct twice, but my symptoms were obvious as a life threatening allergy, and an ambulance was sent for me within a few minutes and was taken straight in to a bed, and a DR came immediately, on Easter Monday. Phone them now

RancerDoo · 11/11/2012 10:34

You need to go to hospital. Can you take someone with you (someone assertive who can do some insisting on your behalf)?

Please go to A&E. refuse to leave until they treat you properly.

CrikeyOHare · 11/11/2012 10:46

Ruby I'm going to PM her. Perhaps you could too?

Also, could people bump the thread for me so that any one with cardiac experience has a chance to see it?

ggirl · 11/11/2012 10:51

Jesus ,I am shocked that you haven't been admitted to hospital for proper monitoring!

LadyMaryChristmas · 11/11/2012 10:58

Medusa, you need to go to the hospital. Call 999 and ask for an ambulance, chuck, they will be able to monitor your heart and do an ECG before you even get to the hospital. Tell them that you're in an episode of SVT and you feel as if you're going to pass out. Don't try and get there yourself, the hospital need the heart trace and the ECG from the ambulance crew.

Some0ne · 11/11/2012 11:08

Medusa, if I were you I'd be calling an ambulance by now. Please don't wait to be seen on Tuesday.

piprabbit · 11/11/2012 11:15

Please go to A&E, I'm really worried for you as it sounds so frightening and painful.
At least A&E on a Sunday morning should be a calmer place than on a Saturday night.

I don't think I can add anything but I would have pushed my GP for a referral to a cardiologist and a neurologist much earlier in the week. I would also have said something like, if I am not seen quickly is my health likely to be permanently damaged.

I cannot believe you haven't been referred as an emergency. When you get to hospital refuse to leave until you have been seen by a consultant cardiologist and a consultant neurologist - at the very least leave the hospital with appointments to see both.

I hope you are OK and on your way to hospital right now.

Sunnywithachanceofshowers · 11/11/2012 11:55

Bump.

I hope you're getting the help you need Medusa.

Twosugarsplease · 11/11/2012 12:01

A & E and refuse to leave until your satisfied your going to be ok, you are better in hospital than at home, please go x
