I had to wake her this morning (very very unusual) dt2 was already up and it is normally dt1 waking up dt2. she slept her usual 12 hrs and did'nt have a tiring day yesterday, she does'nt seem to be ill in any way and does'nt have a temp, but she has choked on everything I have given her to eat this morning (also last night) her tonsils look normal. She fell into a deep sleep in my arms an hor ago, so have put her back to bed. Any ideas??

how old is she dt? afraid I don't have any answers, you could always ring the NHS helpline thingy.

dolally · 31/03/2006 10:56

sorry don't mean you are dt . should preview..!!

waterfalls · 31/03/2006 10:56

starlover · 31/03/2006 11:03

i'd see if you can get her to the doctor... does she have any other symptoms? rash etc?

foxinsocks · 31/03/2006 11:05

could be that she's about to come down with something - perhaps a tummy thing or the pox?

apart from being sleepy, does she appear poorly?

dolally · 31/03/2006 11:07

It is possible to be ill without having a temperature. Is she drinking, is she pale... these are the things NHS helpline would ask of course.

waterfalls · 31/03/2006 11:11

she is drinking, she is not pale and she has had chicken pox, she does'nt seem ill at all, just very tired, she grew out of day naps months ago, so it is very unusual for her to be asleep now. Her eyes are puffy though as if she has'nt slept all night, oh and I am checking regulary for a rash.

OP posts:
starlover · 31/03/2006 11:15

could just be tail end of the chicken pox i guess.

i would get it checked though, better safe than sorry!

waterfalls · 31/03/2006 11:17

Sorry should have said she had chicken pox last year

OP posts:
starlover · 31/03/2006 11:19

ahh lol! guess not then!

it would worry me as it;s so unusual for her. i once looked after a little boy who had meningitis... the ONLY symptom he had was sleepiness!

not wanting to scare you, but it does happen...

waterfalls · 31/03/2006 11:20

Thanks starlover
You hav'nt scared me, hence me checking for a rash every 10 minutes, think I will call NHS.

OP posts:
starlover · 31/03/2006 11:21

i always think that doctors would far rather see a healthy child, than not see an ill one!

see what NHS direct say and update us!

waterfalls · 31/03/2006 11:30

SHIT SHIT SHIT, nhs asked if she has had a bump to the head in the last week, and she has, she hit her forehead Monday, but was fine, he said these things can have delayed reaction and I need to get her to A+E.

OP posts:
starlover · 31/03/2006 11:32

oh no :( that'll be fun for you! not

let us know how you get on though

waterfalls · 31/03/2006 11:33

Waiting for dh to come home from work, on his way now. but am worried because we dont know how she hit her head, just noticed the big bump tuesday morning, am paronoid about it looking suspicious

OP posts:
starlover · 31/03/2006 11:35

i am sure they won't be suspicious... these things do happen! unless you're in there every week with sometihng then they won't think twice about it.

we were in a&e with Linus a while ago and there were 2 kids in there at the same time for head bumps! I think they see a lot of it

mazzystar · 31/03/2006 11:37

waterfalls, don't get stressed, she is probably fine, but best to make sure. she's probably just using up lots of energy growing. (Ds has a sleepy phase every so often and then all of a sudden he's a centimetre taller). hope she's beack on form very soon.

dolally · 31/03/2006 11:58

docs see loads of head bumps in kids, they'd rather check em all out. Don't worry (as if you can stop!!).

Chapsmum · 31/03/2006 12:24

Waterfalls, please try not to panick.
The front of the head is the strongest part and if she wasn't knocked out at the time she probbably will be ok. NHS 24 are just being cautious. They have to be because they cant physically examine her.
Do go to a and E but dont panick.
Am sure the would have told you but take her straight away if she complains of a headache (particulaly at the back of the head)
vomits persistantly or seems more unco-ordinated than usual.

If it makes you feel better my wee chap has exactly the same symptoms, he has not banged his head but I think his nose is about to errupt with green snot!

RedTartanLass · 31/03/2006 12:33

Nothing useful to add, but hope everything goes ok!

MadameDeMars · 31/03/2006 12:38

let us know how it goes waterfalls. I'm sure all will be well. Smile

waterfalls · 31/03/2006 15:55

She is fine, they think she has a virus, though she does'nt seem ill, but her blood pressure is slightly high.

OP posts:
MadameDeMars · 31/03/2006 16:07

I'll keep praying. Glad to hear that it's just a virus. Hopefully it will pass soon. Smile

I have just put 2 screaming over-tired DTs to bed. They are trying to drop their daytime nap, but need it so badly. I wouldn't normally put them down this late but my head is aching and I can't take the noise a moment longer. They are blissfully sleeping and I will have to wake them at 5.30 and take a LARGE dose of nurofen for my resultant headache. ah........ the joys!

RedTartanLass · 31/03/2006 19:03

Ah good news waterfalls, glad she's ok. Probably wake up with a stinker of a cold tomorrow.
