tracyk · 22/03/2006 10:38

God I hope you don't get a PE on your lung - I had one after ds was born - it is THE most painful experience of my life - 10 times worse than labour.

Bramshott · 22/03/2006 10:48

God how horrid for you, and what a pain to have to go up to the hospital every night for a week. Can they not move the time by an hour (or half an hour) each day, so that at least by the end of the week you are going up more like 6.00 than 8.00? Seem to remember having to do that when I missed an injection once.

Good luck - hope they can get you on the lovely warfarin tablets or on long term injections soon.

claire7676 · 22/03/2006 11:37

Hi, don't resign ureself to long term anti coagulation yet sc. I had recurrent PEs, and was told it was warfarin for life, but the latest research shows that the length of time you take anti-coags for reduces the risk of a recurrence IYSWIM. I took warfarin for 3 years and they agreed to try me off it again, but I have to do cleaxane injections at times of risk. I doubt you'll be on clexane long term, as there is a risk of osteoporosis with long term clexane use, and the normal treatment for that is hormonal, clearly not an option!! Also, you can now self adminster warfarin, reducing the need for the INR clinic. I know its miserable, but keep ure chin up hun!

claire7676 · 22/03/2006 11:38

Meant to say, the best thing is to arm ureself with information! Most of what I know was certainly not volunteered by the hospital / doctor!!

spacecadet · 22/03/2006 13:46

thanks claire-spoke to the dvt nurse today who said that i only have to go twice more after today and after that they will prob put me on warfarin, she said i would probably only have to have warfarin for 3 months and then clexane if for example i had an op.

Thats great! Look after yourself x

Bugsy2 · 22/03/2006 15:55

how are you feeling now SC - has the pain & swelling subsided?
My cousin had a dvt when she was pregnant with her first & has been able to come off all the thiners now, other than asprin. She would have to go back on again if she was going to have any kind of surgery.
Sounds like you are not quite ready for the knackers yet!

spacecadet · 22/03/2006 16:52

bugsy-its still tender but i can walk on it, the most painful time was when i woke up on monday morning.
tbb-sorry i missed you, someone else rang tried to return youir call, but you are out!
